So during my summer job I wore my hair in a wash n go for 3 weeks and didn't detangle it. Worst mistake, so when I got back home for a break my hair was so matted. It was so bad. So I detangled my hair for 5-6 days. Every morning I went under the shower and detangled it until my patience went away(I only tou he'd it when I know I could be gentle). Then I stopped touching it braided it into four chucky braids and repeated the process every morning until my hair was tangle free. I saved a lot of hair and I retained the length I grew. I also finger detangled.

I'm sorry that happened to you. It gets hard in the summer and we don't realize how bad the matting is until it's too late. Very scary. Consistency in the detangling is key. I won't be washing again until I'm sure my hair is tangle free. 🤗❤️🤗

My hair is crazy tangly as well, and I'm sure you'll never let this happen again, but if you do, detangling before you shampoo will save your hair. If your hair is already tangled, the shampoo basically locks the tangles in place and makes them almost dread-lock. I've been there a million times. Anyways, your hair is still awe-inspiring!❤

Horrific that I did it to myself. I just hang my head in shame. I won't let it happen again. I underestimated that 1600 strands. I should have detangled first. Thanks for watching and supporting. 🤗

Lol. There was one time I had the worst matting on the back right side of my hair. I was so fed up I just ripped the comb through. After that day is when I changed my shampoo technique because I felt so bad for ripping my hair out like that. Months later I saw the consequences of my actions when I noticed that side of my hair was thinner. But I lived and I learned. Just getting it back to health now. Since watching your videos i actually started being more consistent with washing my hair between 1 to 2 weeks and nothing more. I also use the Cantù moisturizer you use as well. I’ve been very pleased with the health of my hair. Thank you for sharing your hair care with us!

Heyyyyyy. Thanks you for watching and supporting I am glad you have been enjoying . My top goal was always to make content that was real and helpful. I'm soo sorry that happened to your hair. It's scary. Tangles can derail a hair Journey that has been progressing very well in an instant. This wash day was a big reminder to me, never to neglect washing and detangling. I learned from my mistakes. And I am sure I will see the damage when I go to wash my hair again and Straighten. My scalp still hurts from the pulling. Ser backs happen but thankfully we listen to our hair. Cantu has been such a staple for my hair. I need to restock before it hikes in price at the store. ❤️🤗❤️

I literally sit and shake my head every time you post a wash day as to how beautiful hair is, and yes I had a detangling upset this week, I was able to detangle easily but I lost a lot of hair, my stylist said it was expected because I wore my hair braided for three months but still I was in disbelief at the amount of hair loss. I know you were frustrated I could see it all over your face but your hair looks a-ma-zing.

Thank you for watching. My optimism for that day vanished soo fast. I wanted to cry. My next wash day I'm going to be soo nervous. Braids are beautiful and I will definitely do it again. But I'll be watching for obstacles. Cause I see the split ends already. But this is a good example of how heat damage can be avoided and manipulation damage while styling can be way more severe.

Thank you soo much for watching and supporting. I haven't had a stressful hair session like this in a long time. Even having a sun burn on my scalp wasn't as bad. I think perhaps remembering perming my hair and watching chunks of hair come out after and seeing mushy hair strands. It's a blow to the spirit. But a learning lesson. Scalp still feels tender. 😩 I feel like I need a tub of crisco for next time.

Oh no! I’ve been there with braids and mini twists. I can still get two to three weeks with those protective styles, however what I do differently now that prevents horrific tangles is I detangle thoroughly with conditioner or coconut oil before any shampoo touches my hair. The shampoo plus shed hair and product buildup almost behaves like a glue and the matting is so intense.

Yes! Doing a pre shampoo deepcondition / pre poo really helps to keep tangles at bay. In fact it is my favourite way to do my hair because once I am done deep conditioning, I then shampoo and use a rinse out conditioner and I am done. I was able to cut my wash day time from 4 hours to 2 hours with this. Hopefully i can get it down to an hour soon.

I need to comment on this video. I soooo go through this!! I am usually in tears when this happens. I cannot 2 strand twist my hair anymore because for some reason my hair gets soo soo tangled the next day and is hard to untangle😢. I love my hair but it can be so hard to manage sometimes! I use a satin cap at night I usually wear twists for a protective style but I'm thinking I've just been using the Briogeo curl charisma line and it has proteins in it that makes my hair strong but dryer feeling and much more defined curls. which I love...however I think this product is more for wash and gos which I'm afraid to do as I've had bad experiences with doing them. Tangles and single strand knots for days! But doing braid outs and 2 strand twists are what I'm use to doing. I shouldn't be using these products for that. 1 of many of my mistakes! The tangle was massive 😢. But you gotta try new products sometimes. I went back to Pantene Smooth and Sleek. Its the best detangler than anything I've ever used. I actually kept it on my hair after awhile as a leave in which probably isnt necessary . I don't know if that contributed to some damage I incurred as I cut off 9-10 inches of my which was down to my thigh. So its still longer but Im trying to keep it healthy whilst growing it. If this ever happens again which it probably will... use the Pantene! It has so much slip! It detangles most any mat, but if not then I go to the bad boy of dentanglers kinky -curly knot today. Which everyone knows about...lol. Anyway I don't comment much but I feel for you! My husband is tired of me asking for help with knots. 😂 (Thanks for your content and education. Also putting yourself out there to educate us) ❤. It's not easy but I'm still hopeful that i will eventually get a routine that is not only great for growing healthy hair but is easy to to do. Love your channel! 😘 ❤❤

Heyyyy thank you soo much for commenting. The comments matter to me alot. I have now repurchased Pantene cause it is soo slippy. I used it back in the day before I started the Tresemme. The tangles and knots that can form are deadly..sometimes they come out soo easily and other times, I can feel my blood pressure rising cause I know there is no saving the strands. You got some long hair girl, it's normal to need some help with it once in a while. Wish we could clone ourselves to help with the hair styling. Lol. I have also noticed that if I use too much of a product with protein or means for strengthening the hair is a bit crispy so I lean more to moisture. Finding the balance is tricky and the change in weather makes it like a science project. Such a wonderful journey hair is. 😊😊😊

Hmm, although you thoroughly rinsed out the head and shoulders shampoo, I wonder if there was counteraction with the head and shoulders and the tresemme shampoo at the molecular level that can't be seen from the untrained eye. This happened to me when I used the Vo5 shampoo out of desperation because I didn't have any shampoo left. The moment I put on the shampoo, my hair literally contracted into itself and maybe it is because it did not react well with the oils I had in my hair. I know you have used the combination before and it did not give you any trouble. Hair is so unpredictable.

  • @shanikacorb

This is definitely a possibility. This combination has always been fine. But my hair has never been drier with so much shedded hair still intertwined. Soo spots where the entire process went wrong. Lol. Head and Shoulders works but it's very tricky. That's why I only put on roots. Can you imagine how bad this would have been if I had used it on all my hair

@@shanikacorb You would have definitely had to cut it or give yourself a good trim if you used it on the whole hair strand. I was just about to do a wash and go since I’m over heat styling during the summer months - I’ve been a straight hair natural for almost two years - but after watching this video, I think I’ll pass. My hair is like yours. It loves to tangle and wrap around itself. Detangling disasters are part of the reason why I’m a straight hair natural. How did your braid out curls treat your hair? Was your wash day easier after?

  • @shanikacorb

    @shanikacorb

Heyyy. Thanks for watching and joining the family. Heat styling in the summer is like a losing battle so I try to do less straightening. But goshhhhh I miss my straight hair. My straight hair is usually almost 90 percent tangle free with no worries. Perhaps in a past life we had dreads and that's why our hair dreads soo easily. Lol. When I do my braid outs and wash it's always very easy and manageable. But this wash day kicked my ego down to the floor. I still haven't recovered from the stress of trying to deal with those tangles. But experimentation helps us learn when not to push out boundaries. I'll be very careful going forward with my hair. 🥰 What's your fave summer style?

I usually can’t sit for the long periods of time in order to get braids in the summer, so I torture myself through the heat and straighten, but I’m about to try braid outs because it’s too hot in NY this summer. 😊 Glad to hear that your braid outs treat you well and the tangles are not so bad.
