Experiencing this difference is the biggest eye opener. Heat can be damaging but if used correctly it can be used a tool to avoid damage. Thanks for watching. ❤️

Hey Shanika! Thank you so much for this video! In the natural hair community it has been my observation that alot of natural hair youtubers don't address this huge issue. As much as i love my curls I decided not that long ago to start straightening my hair because I had so many ssk! I just see them, feel them and cut them out. Sometimes they can be way up high in my hair strands! Now mind you before I did this I would try to unknot them with some minor success. I just was so done! I never had them till my hair grew long. I was very careful with my hair routine so it wasn't from neglect or careless practice. But like you I have decided to try with as much minimal damage to keep my hair straight...so blow dried. I don;t flat iron and just use the Revair. My thinking its minimal damage by using less heat but...I don;t get that smooth shiny and really straight hair that you do. Also my hair will tend to start reverting at the ends. which is why I'm trying to put blow dry serums and light oils and braiding, pin curling the ends at night. With some success. So it seems easy to catch damage when my hair is curly and not straight, When I started to relax my regimen and blow dried it for the first time in a long time I was shocked it was AT THE MIDDLE OF MY THIGH IN LENTGH BUT VERY DAMAGED on 1 side. I had my husband cut off 9 inches. I was so upset and cried. That's why I'm keeping it straight weather permitting. I can't even be sure what caused this bad ends or fall out from the surgery I had the year prior. I wish I made this comment shorter so apologies to you and your viewers. Your hair is thick and long and whatever you are doing it's WORKING. Thank you for all your great videos Shanika. ❤❤❤

Thank you girl. I appreciate everything word in your comments. Make them as long as you desire. I'm here to help and inspire. And I agree that not enough people are talking about it. If you, like me, notice that stretched hair is easier and less stress than stick with it. As much as people say heat can be the empty, heat can also be the element that can save your hair and your sanity. Surgery and the change in stress hormones from being in pain and meds used for recovery can for cause an impact on our hair. In thr sneakiest of ways. Your hair was longggggg. All the way to the thighs. Damnnnnn. As you experience different lengths in your hair sometimes a change in routine could be needed. I like the stretching and the serums and light oils. I can picture the pin curls. They probably come out amazing. I have such a big surprise coming for everyone soon. 😊

Thank you! Now I feel more confident in my new method of styling my hair. I will keep you posted. I guess this hair journey is alot of trial and error. I know no one who has hair like mine and its kinda unfamilar territory. I'm glad I found your channel. ❤ @@shanikacorb

Thanks sis I learn so much every time you post a video...thanks so much, so recently I took my braids down to detangle and stretch my hair and there were a lot of "fairy knots" so the next time I take my braids down I will do a serious trim.

You are so welcome. 😊😊😊. Those knots will haunt us forever. But it's good to have some practiced to keep them down to a minimum. A good trim will be coming for me soon too. I can't wait.

I end up cutting them out all the time. I get more split ends from wash and gos. When my hair is straight, it is actually healthier. The only thing is I don't have enough time. How did you style your hair when your son was a baby?

Heyy. Thanks for watching. Wash n gos are soo sneaky. Very good question, I had my hair in a lot of mini braids and buns . It took months before I got back into straightening and wanting to style my hair. Being a mom with a toddler is still a bit tricky at times with my hair. When I'm home, it's always pulled back and tucked out of the way. 😊

@shanikacorb thanks for replying. My hair has just been in buns but I think that it might affect my nape hair . When I have time, I will try to do mini braids. How often do you normally trim?

@@debbiereid9419 I like to trim every 3 to 4 months. I don't let it go past 6 months. It helps to keep the split ends from traveling up the shaft.
