This channel is for all the landlocked surfers out there looking to find a surfing fix through other avenues! Surfskate is my main way of getting that surf fix right now so expect a ton of surfskate tutorials, product reviews, and inspiring surfskate short movies. Mixed in, you'll find some powsurfing content for surfing the ski slopes; some Great Lakes surfing as the winter storms kick up mushy waves on the lakes; and some river-surfing content for those of you who look to the freshwater for your surf fix! Happy to have you along for the adventures.

That’s awesome news, thank you, Sophie
The essence of freedom, so nice.
Lots of creativity !
Thank you!!! That is what I try my hardest to bring to the scene.
Look's so cool! 😎
Noice
I have the trucks and i put it into my Madrid valterra board
The whole world is our skate park.
Awesome video Mark, I loved that enclosed pipeline and the drone coverage outside at the banked pipeline. Your friend led you to some really cool spots and you explored them in your usual surfskatorian style 😃🤙
Thanks Jay! It was a ton of fun.
Always blowing my mind with new ways to surfskate 😎
Taking a swelly on a skatepark? Dont you like your bones as they are? Its like taking a shopping trolley downhill!
Thanks, great tutorial, vital info!!
Glad it was helpful!
The ditch and tube section were really enjoyable to watch! Anything outside the skatepark always gets my vote! Great video Mark! ❤
Yo, thanks Tony!
❤
I love how you went from "I'm 8hrs away from the ocean so I need to surfskate to get that surf feeling" to "I'm going on a trip to the ocean I still need to find the best skate spots to be able to release a nice video part", this video feels like you're not that landlocked anymore, just enjoying your skate journey to the fullest and to those like me who got to skateboarding and surfskating from surf and end up, for various reasons, to skate far far more than surf, it sends really positive vibe. You also feel a more positive vibe about finding remote spots our even sharing one with skaters rather than how crowded surf line ups end up to be, with lot of tension, localism and you sometimes just get 2 or 3 good runs in a surf sesh while surfskate often feels like you can go on forever. Sometimes I'm like "I'd really miss surfing and I'd like to take a nice trip" and then I see videos of the crowded spots and I'm more like "No I'm good at my local skateparks and bowls, I'll go surfing when I'll go surfing"
Thanks for this really well thought out comment! The beauty of this trip is that I still managed to surf every morning! Then when my arms were dead, "let's go find some skate spots!" Surfskating started as a substitute for my passion and ended up as a whole new passion. It is great to have multiple things that can bring you this much stoke!
Great work Mark 🙌 keep it up!👍
Thanks!
My heart stopped on the fall 😰 The different angles and views are awesome! Love the ending clip. Love how you can feel both the intensity that comes from the more skateboard tricks, and the sense of freedom of the surfskating. Great video Mark!
Counting my luck that that I didn't need another costly Hawaii emergency room visit after hitting that huge rut at speed! Thanks for watching and the nice words!
Powerful and spectacular. Could have watched even longer. 💥
Thank you for the kind words!
Dig the BS Bert to ride on grind as the ender 👍👍
Thanks Greg! So much potential in these new places but so little time to fully explore.
Love it, Mark! Well done! 👏
Thank you for tuning in!
I was really confident droping-in on four foot, so i thought i could move to 6 foot something. Although i was a bit scared i thought i could do it...I landed right on my face and broke out my teeth. I guess i looked to much down, because it wasn't an issue of commitment ;).
Ouch... Sorry to hear that, hope you were able to heal up.
@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer Hi Mark, thanks for the wishes. I hope my dentist can fix it. I’m taking a break from surfskating, though i really love the sport. I have to get out of the Valley of despair (do you know the Dunning-Kruger effect? I guess i just fell literally off mount stupid…) Cheers Joachim
i have zero empathy for people who cannot handle negative criticism. People just don't want to accept that not all they do is amazing, so they get butthurt if someone doesn't say "you are great" and act like "i don't listen to those people". That always reminds me of Gorden Ramsay calling out people for being in denial and people just not wanting to see it. Personally i see just this big market of people trying to rip of newbies with they surfskate classes. Its a big epidemic and no one tells the newbies they are beeing ripped off because "keep your negative criticism for yourself". I think if you do surf skate because you just like to to it, the feels and stuff - ok. But get rid of that surf training illusion, fuck classes, fuck posers.
Thanks
Thank you so much for the channel support!

I'm going to try these out
Hi, I know this is an older video so the bus rules might have changed, but were you walking from the hotel out to the road with your boards and then taking long boards on the bus? I'm wondering if that is a possibility.
We didn't try. On a quieter time of day they may have allowed it but the bus can get crowded and it definitely wouldnt work when full.
Great review, wouldn't you like to test our board as well?
Hi, You should also try our boards ;)
"PromoSM"
I think you should get your wife a one wheel to follow you and film you on the boards.
Never heard of this brand I will check em out
Nice. 2 years ago I build my own surfskateboard... great move❤
I got surfskates because, as someone who has surfed for 40 years, and taught snowboarding for a while, too, I have found most skateboards and longboards to be disappointing. I like having the ability to flow, turn hard, and gain speed from it. I do think there's way too much talk about which truck systems feel exactly like a surfboard. What surfboard? Every surfboard I've ever ridden, from vintage longboards to sub-5 foot boards made for acid dropping into river waves, feels different. Every run of the mill 6' something tri-fin has felt different. So don't overdo the "surf training" thing. Just enjoy surfskates for what they are. They will let you use your surfing and snowboarding flow, whereas doing flip tricks on popsicle stick skateboards won't. Enjoy that as a different sport if you like doing it, but recognize that skateboarding departed from its surfing roots 30 years ago and never looked back. Where it used to be an offshoot of surfing, it stands alone now as an Olympic sport. Surfskates are a deliberate effort to go back to those surfing roots, for those of us who want that feel when we screw around on the driveway, or even in the skate park. Still, a surfskate does have its own characteristics. Feel free to ride what you like, without worrying if it's exactly like a surfboard. That's really not a thing. 🙂
Are those the Cx or c5?
These are actually Solride trucks
Thanks for making this video.
A video on the spine transfer please Mark!
Hi Mark, had you got a chance to test in park or flat the 70mm 81a ? If they give a small additional speed without being too slidy, they could be a good choice.
Yes, my favourite are the 84a, but the 81 are a nice in-between
@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer With 70mm 84a, can you still pump hard on a very smooth Park surface without sliding ? EDIT : I've received today 70mm 81a and 84a, i will test them soon in park + pumptrack. First approach is 84a on Soulboardiy Meda Revolution 34, 81a on Kahuna 48 (both Carver CX trucks). If i feel the rear too slidy with 84, i'll mix 84 in front + 81 on rear. I'll keep in touch.
awwwww ahaha you look so happy this is filling my heart to watch
you're great Mark! thanks for continuously helping my surfskate skills grow (:
I just bought some for my C7 did you remove the risers?
I use qwiktruks, they are a little shorter than the 2 stack Carver risers. Might be a little tight with nothing.
Super cool
How are these compared to Yow legasee trucks in terms of pumping?
Legasee pump a lot better, more like a surfskate. You can pump these similar to Ace Af-1 but it doesn't feel as much like a surfskate.
Angled riser might help with the turn radius.
Kelly has hosted Carver at his surf ranch and there are videos on KZread of him carving hills on a 90s model surfakate.
Would these be pretty loose? I was thinking about getting the trucks for a 33inch deck. (I prefer looser trucks)
They ride very similar to smoothstar thruster 2, so you can get them fairly loose
Amazing love it
What trucks do you use in your boards?
For this trip I took Grasp, Carver C5, and Solride
I can't skate loose trucks
