My Worst Bails, Fails, and Slams of 2022 - 40 Year Old Surfskater edition
Спорт
This is a video that can be appreciated by both my lovers and my haters! 3 minutes of me getting decimated while trying to spurn innovation in the sport of surfskating. I did get some injuries over the course of the year but I was still impressed with what my 40-year old body was able to withstand through a big year of progress. Should I post a highlights video to go with these "low-lights"?

The wheel falling off at 1:12! 😂
Ouch! Munch! Grunch! Slam! Ouffph! Splat! Zonk! Bonk! Bail!...Great video Mark especially liked the wheel run-a-way over the lip, how does that even happen? Too funny! I guess you decided to bail when you saw the wheel roll away? LOL! Thanks for the stoke 🤙 and hope you have a full recovery ⛑ so you can do it again next year!

Thanks Jay! Quite impressed with what my body withstood this year! I guess the more you fall the more you get used to it.
You’re a real Mark, no doubt about it. Thanks for sharing behind the scenes of how legends are made 🙌🏽 Keep it up mate, you’re an inspiration for a lot of us 🫶🏽
Cheers as always dude. Makes me feel better knowing that everyone else takes a few too!! 👊 Atb pal.
I remember when you lost that wheel on the spine transfer. Freaky 😳🙏✌️
BODIEEEEEEEEEEED! Happy New Year big M 🤘🔥
Watching this after 4hrs session at the skate park. Can relate pretty well, also because I just turned 40. Yew 🤙
Loved it!!!!!
I take no pleasure in your misery... if you are not falling, you are not progressing or learning. Mahalo for sharing,, ALWAYS fun content Mark!

Thank you! I agree, if I go for long stretches without falling, I take it as a sign that I’ve gone into the comfort zone and remind myself to keep pushing. Plus I always love seeing the background work that went into a great clip, including the misses.
You are a good skater Mark, I think that you would shred on ace trucks and a nice shaped board. Come back to your skateboarding roots! Jk man, I respect what you do, but sometimes I think you are avoiding the right equipment for what you are doing.

Haven't tried Ace trucks so I can't say for sure if I am missing out, but I just love the feel of surfskate trucks with the deep lean and sharp turns and ability to correct while rolling. I practice flip tricks in the basement on independents but put them in motion and I feel like I can barely push. If I have the opportunity to try some I wouldn't oppose it but have trouble imagining myself going back.
I think at least a few of the bails on your short cruiser could be avoided by using a regular popsicle board, with a longer wheelbase, and designed for those tricks. No?

I assure you that I am more than capable of falling on any board! But yes, more of a nose would have helped on the treflip attempts.

Thanks for sharing Mark! I strongly believe that being authentic like you and sharing experiences is what makes the surfskate community different and keep it growing this way. I did my first drop at 40 in my life. Encouraged by surfskaters which I met for the first time. 🫶🏼
