Avenue Suspension Trucks - Reviewed by a normal low skill average skater!

Спорт

Avenue suspension trucks are a really intriguing product that looks to improve upon the standard skateboard truck. There are several reviews out there already, but they are mostly reviewed by very talented ultra-skilled skaters. I think a lot of the benefits that this system supposedly offers would be most appreciated by skaters like me - Ones who are not actually that good and trying hard to get better. I am good at flowing on surfskates, but recently I have been getting back into regular skateboarding and relearning how to do things like flip tricks and actually ollie into grinds rather than just ride onto them. So, lets test out how the Gen 2 Avenue skateboard trucks work for a regular guy in his 40s trying to improve!
These trucks were provided to me free to review, but I have no affiliation with the company, nor anything to gain by saying anything dishonest. These are my honest thoughts and Avenue will see them at the same time as my viewers.
If you have any other questions that I don't cover here, please let me know in the comments!

I have been using these Avenue Trucks with my SmoothStar for about seven years. They are excellent. Both kingpins broke off so I drilled through the plates, stuck in reverse kingpins and are now working well again.

Angled riser might help with the turn radius.

Hi Mark - Can you tighten or loosen these like a regular truck? Are you still skating them?

There is a kingpin and bushings for fine tuning, but the suspension part is what it is, no adjusting that. I am still using them, working on frontside bluntslides on them!

So you would say that you can tighten them or loosen them a little but not as much as regular trucks? @@MarktheLandlockedSurfer

@@scottiano747 Yes, so much of the movement comes from the suspension arm, so even if you crank them as tight as possible, they will still feel on the loose side.

Thanks dude. I guess I'll have to wait for them to restock. Options to get them here in the UK are very limited sadly.@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer

How are these compared to Yow legasee trucks in terms of pumping?

Legasee pump a lot better, more like a surfskate. You can pump these similar to Ace Af-1 but it doesn't feel as much like a surfskate.

I've just placed my cx trucks on a egg shaped normal skateboard just so I can learn to drop in.... But I find the big surfskate wheels still are going to make the drop in heavy... Might get these trucks rather for drop ins

An idea I have been playing with is one of these in the back and a C5 up front to get the benefits of both worlds

I didn't think about that normal tucks at the back and normal wheels front and back will seriously lower the board on the coping and also to remove the riser blocks under the truck bases@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer

Where do you see yourself going as far as percentage of skateboarding vs surfskating?...Such as 50% skate 50% surfskate....where and why?

Being in Canada, the options in winter dry up for the surfskate. If stuck in a tunnel or a flat parking garage, a skateboard can be a little more interesting. But generally come summer I expect to be mostly back on the surfskate when I have lots of room to flow and roam.

Hey ill own some too, i don´t like them at all! I feel very uncomfortable with the bending of the trucks. So for me a 3/10

Thanks for sharing your experience! Could I ask 2 follow up questions? How would you describe your skill level / experience as a skater? And What are your preferred trucks?

You can always get bones hard bushings if you like your trucks tight

With my weight these trucks would be bent beyond use after 2 Ollie’s

Haha, I don't know, they seem pretty robust, but I don't know if they have a max load recommendation
