A Revolutionary Product for Winter Skaters in Withdrawal

Спорт

I thought this product would be a fun novelty to test out for a video. But I actually love it and look forward to every day with good conditions to use it. It makes me the most popular person on the ice, as I zoom by all I can hear from everyone around is "murmur murmur SKATEBOARD".

Good for you for finding a frozen pond with no ICE POLICE. Yes, true freedom and a great demonstration of these blades and the possibilities they have. I watched some people play ice hockey with surfskates last week but I can't remember the channel name but they were sure having fun. This pond seems really smooth compared to most. Good job finding this place and it looks huge, enjoy it before it starts warming up. You having way too much fun and for free, no $200 a day snowboard pass needed here!

Haha, it”s started. I used to ice skate and played hockey at local rinks when I was younger and when I began surf skating, I notice that my hockey muscle memory would take over, specially when I did long distance and my arms would swing like a speed skater or when a hockey player is chasing the puck for an open breakaway. Like you I immediately thought of playing ball hockey on surf skate and that someday surf skate hockey would be a thing.

Yes! We gotta make this happen! Same thing when I was learning to pump, I was drawing on my skating muscle memory: push off trom the back skate (wheels) and glide with the front skate (wheels), switch sides and repeat.

That's pretty freaking legit. Except for the "frozen lake" part. My blood is too thin for that bro! lol Just letting you know I got a surfskate setup on the way because of your content. Some Carver CX's on a DogTown deck, second hand. I hope to be able to use it in some bowls and maybe on some bike trails. Just saying thanks for being the first to introduce me to it. 🤙

Very cool. The only product I own that helps save me from winter is a copy of Skate 2! 😂

Interesting but it didn't even snow here during the last ice age.

That's rad. Personally i don't mess around on questionably frozen lakes. (they are all questionable to me 😂) but this is cool.

Pretty awesome. Snowskate trucks works the same way. Def recommend you take up snowboarding, you’ll love winter instead of hating it.

I don't hate winter, it is the period in between that sucks. When there is not enough snow for winter activities, but too much snow for skateboarding. I snowboard, powsurf, and snowskate, but we don't have enough snow yet, just enough to render the skateparks unusable

Snowboarding passes have almost doubled in price in my area in the last few years. I used to go a lot when I had week days off but now that I only have weekends off it isn't even fun to go when it's so packed on the mountain every weekend. Especially since I have no friends so I'm always in the singles line riding with randos

Nice review! One question: don’t’ you loose glide with that blade profile? You get traction for sure but can’t use the same physics like ”normal” blades does.

I'm not an expert in physics, but to me they definitely feel like they were well designed to push off the shorter rear blades and glide on the longer front blades. The razor sharp single edge seems to have less friction as well.

Curfboard trucks and blades ordered! What height risers do you recommend for this setup?

  • @MarktheLandlockedSurfer

You don't need much! I am currently just using the back truck wedge that comes with the curfboard trucks. But I've used them with qwiktruks which gives a tiny bit of height and that worked fine too. The curfboard trucks can't jackknife or wheel... bladebite? Adding risers can help make them feel a little more leany if you like to get the board more on rail.
