CAN A CARBON GRAVEL BIKE SURVIVE BIG MTB FREERIDE JUMPS?

Спорт

Can a carbon gravel bike survive big MTB freeride jumps? I push the Canyon Grizl gravel bike to the limits on a huge stair set, massive bike park jumps and even europe's biggest indoor skatepark, how long will this bike last?
I ride the Canyon Grizl as hard as possible all while holding onto the drop bars in this crazy video about pushing this bike to new limits on big jumps at Twisted Oaks bike park and even getting upside down on the biggest skatepark in Europe! Gravel biking is awesome and I show you just how wild you can go on these kind of bikes. From normal MTB trails and huge jumps to blasting through the woods at full speed, this bike can really do a lot more than I ever imagined! Would you ride that big pro jump line on this bike?
I hope you enjoy the video!

    If I worked for Canyon I'd be trying to get Sam to help make the best gravel / bike advertisement ever. Some sort of insane cuts from road and gravel group riding then splitting off on a shortcut to some other genre's, an intense mtb and park hit, a trials move, a skate park, and back to the streets doing some street move then stairs meeting back up with the group at a coffee stop.

  • @Shub-23

    @Shub-23

    Uhm... this is exactly what happened here. If they´d advertise this directly as canyon branded, it might bring a bunch of lawsuits to their mailbox. It remains a fact that this bike is in no way designed to withstand the forces presented here on a regular basis. Who knows, maybe there were even a bunch of snapped frames/forks/wheels during filming ? I sincerely hope nobody will try to mimic this. Sams skills are mad, ordinary people would probably just die from some of his stunts :)

  • @willjones7132

    @willjones7132

    @@Shub-23 LOL! No it's not, unless I missed the group road and gravel ride and the "shortcut" edit to meet back up with the group at a coffee stop, LOL; read before you write; this is a typical good video for this KZread channel, not produced as commercial advertisement. You also seem to be confused and contradict yourself saying this is a commercial but not really and somehow immune from repercussions made by the same company that would be sponsoring this if it was an advertisement; plus who said anything about random people mimicking these stunts? Do you really think Sam broke a bunch of frames and wheels, really? You obviously know nothing about how strong and capable this level of bikes are, ever heard of "Road Bike Party" or seen the number of videos attempting to destroy this level of components without success, until cutting spokes, etc. Are you an engineer at Canyon, doubt it, but you somehow know for a "fact" that this bike isn't designed to take these forces huh, doubtful your an engineer, have ever designed or made anything yourself, there is more to it than simply designing something to be as weak as possible for said use, it could very well be designed to take these forces without ever being intended to do these stunts for all you know. No it would not bring "a bunch" of lawsuits, if you can't do these stunts on any bike no court is going to rule a pay out because you got hurt trying it on this bike; if you can do these stunts on another bike, Sam just showed it can be done on this bike(very highly doubt Sam's replacing his bike or parts at all in this video), just because a rider isn't Sam doesn't mean the frame is suddenly going to snap doing the same moves, and in any case this is known as an inherently dangerous sport and why you don't hear of people winning lawsuits all the time, if your logic had any basis the car manufactures would be out of business for paying out lawsuits on broken trucks and car wrecks doing what is done in advertisements, and why there is fine print at the bottom of such ads to protect against the morons who try to sue for being morons or participating in inherently dangerous actions where part of the known outcome is breaking things and getting hurt sometimes. Go waste your time and money trying to sue a company for such nonsense if you believe you're right.

    not everybody knows how sponsorship deals work, seems like this guy thinks it's the same as a commercial. it's not. he did not say outright at the start that "THIS VIDEO is sponsored by Canyon" and there was no "advertisement" label which is required by UK law, which you can see on any GCN video that is sponsored by only one brand. plus, it included mentions of GoPro and Halo Wheels, which a directly sponsored video would NOT include. so this falls under his standard sponsorship the general details of which Sam has dicussed before, where he gets paid by mentions of the sponsor, in this case being GoPro, halo, and of course Canyon. I didn't notice if he was wearing a Swatch, but if that was there then it includes them as well. if he does anything inappropriate with those products then he could lose their sponsorship, but I don't think he has to clear the standard videos through them before posting. Directly sponsored videos however usually WOULD have to be cleared by the brand before he was allowed to post it, but that might vary depending on his contract. Regarding the dangers to viewers who actually try the stunts, EVERY one of his videos is like this, and I would think if there was any danger of that, he straight up wouldn't have ANY sponsors by this point. to address the other issue if he ever snaps a frame, or bends a wheel, that shit is KZread gold, and there is no way he would ever leave that out of the video.

    This video is just crazy. Crazy skills, crazy action with the bike. :) What's almost as crazy is that Canyon sells the Grizl as a "Bike Category 1CX" bike: Bikes of this category are designed for riding on hard-surface roads where the wheels remain in permanent contact to the ground. These are in general road racing bicycles with racing handlebars or straight handlebars, triathlon or time trial bicycles. The permissible maximum overall weight comprising rider, luggage and bicycle should not exceed 120 kg. Under certain circumstances this permissible maximum weight can be further limited by the component manufacturers’ recommendations for use. Proven cyclocross and gravel bikes with racing handlebars and cantilever or disc brakes are a special case in this category. In addition, these bikes are also suitable for gravel paths and off-road trails where a short loss of tyre contact with the ground due to small stairs or steps at a height of 15 to 20 cm can occur. 15-20 cm... That is no more than a high curb. Made me question the sturdiness of the bike once. Not anymore. :D
