Chris Horner

Chris Horner

Hello, I'm Chris Horner; I was a pro cyclist for over 20 years. Throughout my career I've participated in countless races and won many of them. The biggest achievement of my career came in 2013 at La Vuelta a España when, at the age of 41, I became both the oldest and only American to ever win the Grand Tour. Now my days of racing are for the most part behind me: however, I remain in the cycling world as a commentator for NBC Sports. Now I'm hoping to bring my many years of experience in racing to KZread, so I will have a platform to share some unique stories and helpful tips to a large audience of both up and coming amateur riders and hobby riders alike!

    Do you think that right now Primoz Roglic is clasping his hands in excitement because he thinks he has a good shot at winning the tour de France?

    So pleased to see team Tudor performing so well at the Giro. They showed up this year and have been on my radar at a bunch of important races and in some great placement at a really high level of cycling.

    Arensman did switch bikes when he flatted, your own screen shot shows him on the #8 bike when he's getting pulled back.

    Tim was free welling so much in the last 5km, when he saw the lead out guys with question marks faces he thinked fast cause he knew where milan was, pulled all the way to the right just in the start of his sprint so nobody could take a draft, he had the Royal Flush here! it was really an amazing win. As always thaks chris and garret, giro would not be the same whitout you guys, greetings from brazil <3

    Agreed. They needed to stay upright and have Thomas & Arensman finish in the main group. Not sure what else they were riding for.

    Why would Ineos keep riders back to support Arensman (6th in GC) when they have Geraint in 3rd spot? Doesn't make sense. I think you're over analyzing things, Chris.

    Milan is for sure. The amount power he puts into the pedals and the length of time he can use energy is very impressive. Today I very much liked how calm he looked even while way out position. Never did he panic and start getting reckless like we have seen many times with other sprinters. 🤔💪🦋👊🙏

    Chris - amazing tactical analysis as always. Pog has the Giro won barring an injury. Given Pogi’s form, can anyone seriously challenge him in July at TdF?

  • @ChrisHornerCycling
    @ChrisHornerCycling15 сағат бұрын

    Yes. The TdF will be great. Who wins is anyone’s guess out of the top four favs. Pog, Jonas, and Roglic are the hot favorites but I will throw Remco in there also because there something he was showing at the Basque Country, before the crash happen. Unfortunately after the crash we never got to see it because the harder stages were still come. But I saw glimmer of something in Remco there that looked like he went to another level. 🤔🦋👊💪💪💪💪

    what do you think about wout saying after today's tour of norway stage that hes still struggling and he also feels discomfort after training. he had crashes out 10 days earlier than vingegaard, so that means that jonas is probably having difficulties as well. how much does it affect his preparations for the tour and his overall tdf form?

  • @kjaime7030
    @kjaime7030Күн бұрын

    I totally understand your advice that Tadej conserve energy to go for the Giro-Tour double, but even following that prescription, his chances of winning the Tour are not 100% (of course). And rather than joining a group of seven career riders to achieve that, wouldn't it perhaps be better to try to (1) join the more elite THREE career riders to have stage wins in all three Grand Tours in the same year and perhaps get the most or second-most stage win among the then group of four; and (2) (a) ensure jumping ahead of Roglic in number of Grand Tour stage wins AHEAD of this year's TdF to perhaps gain a psychological advantage; and (2) (b) aim for a career ending in like fifth place, ahead of Hinault, in total number of Grand Tour stage wins? I do agree with you that le Tour is the pinnacle of achievement for those in the European peloton. And Tadej could possibly get a record number of TdF wins (and most Grand Tour wins). I'm just saying that Tadej could (and perhaps should) be pursuing OTHER goals for the record books, and number of stage wins perhaps should be one he goes for--I definitely think that beating Hinault to take fifth in most Grand Tour stage wins--if he started focusing on this now--would be more achievable for Pogacar than beating Hinault in TdF victories. (And this from someone who hates that Tadej makes winning stage wins look so easy...)

    Hey Chris I enjoy the strategy. I would also like to understand the role of the domestics. What do they do. How important are they to winning. What is the difference between a team lead and a super domestic and when to change roles.

    I said the same thing yesterday watching. Actually it looked like only EF or Trek had any sort of plan. I say it again, if Tadja wasn't in the race it would make for a much more exciting and competitive event. Never get tired of watching the Giro even if just for the scenery.

    I guess everyone expected there would be no real fight for GC unless something bad happens. But the way Pogi rides everyone off his wheel without even trying that hard is scary
