I have always been divided when it comes to the Israel/Palestine issue. I have never been told in the media that Hamas is hiding among civilians or establishing headquarters in the basements of hospitals. the media only writes and talks about how Israel murders innocent Palestinians. My question to the public is: what should Israel do? Pretend like nothing happened? Complain about Hamas murdering civilians? Turn a blind eye to the fact that Palestinian civilians die because Hamas hides among them and uses them as shields and propaganda? If Israel doesn't do something about this, it will happen again and again. When does a nation have the right to defend itself against attack?

Having lived in South Africa, I believe it's intellectually lazy to use the term "apartheid" to describe what's going on in other places of the world. Apartheid was a uniquely South African system of racial oppression designed to consolidate the dominance of white South Africans (and white Namibians) over their non-white fellow South Africans (and non-white Namibians). It's a gas field off the coast of Gaza belonging to the Palestinians. There is also oil under the West Bank. Worth well over $450bn. Netanyahu granted new gas exploration licenses to BP and Eni AFTER 7th Oct 2023. Israel was talking about building a gas pipeline between Israel and Cyprus but this was disbanded just before the war. Go figure!

What Coleman is conflating is an exact equivalency vs. an analogy in the fundamentals of an argument. Not every argument against war should simulate the exact conditions of World War II for the argument to hold! That's just basic understanding which I wonder why a smart guy like Coleman is willfully ignoring. I think he's tendency to embrace the Right is taking precedent in rationalizing arguments. At the end of the day, one either chooses to go with the power or against the power. I don't blame Coleman to go "with" the power. It's a rational position but alas self serving rather than in the service of the truth.

Anyone who is critical of the IDF’s conduct in Gaza, brings up casualty numbers, etc., should be confronted with what John Spencer says. He’s arguably the foremost expert in the world on urban warfare. You will gather that from the introduction. Plus, unlike the critics, he’s been in Gaza. It’s long but educational. He’s previously written that the IDF has done more to minimize civilian casualties than any military in history. In terms of civilian combat casualties, the numbers are better than wars we have waged.

In mid May, Bibi claims 14,000 "terrorists" have been killed and 16,000 civilians. However, only about 35% of the people killed in Gaza are men of military age... half of Gaza's population are kids. So unless Hamas suddenly got big into women's lib, that 14,000 is a joke. (Oh, and the estimate of the total number of Hamas+allied combatants which existed on Oct 7 was about 15,000.) FWIW: Hamas's Oct7 attack (by IDF's numbers) killed 1139 people, 373 or who were security personnel. A 1:3 combatant to civilian ratio.

Egyptian refugees playing at being victims forced off land need to take their Muslim Brotherhood roadshow back to Egypt. The Brotherhood is the #1 threat to the Egyptian government, that's why they wont take the Gaza or its people back. Egypt cut it off and built a super wall sealing its own people in Gaza, stuck between a wall and Israel. Go learn some facts people, Egypt annexed the Gaza in 1948, lost it in the 6 Day war in 1967 and refused to take it back when offered.

How is starving a population more moral ? How is keeping thousands of palestenians in prison without charge more moral ? How is raping palestenians prisoners more moral ? How is seizing land in the west bank and killing palestinians with no consequence in the west bank more moral ? How is killing over 40 000 people with artificial intelligence more moral ?
