    In 2006, Israelis didn't just pull out of Lebanon because they wanted to. Hezbolla made them leave through gorilla war. The Isrealis left because they were losing many soldiers.

    Can you support that claim or is it just something you're saying? They attacked in 1929 and 1936 because they didn't want Jews immigrating to the region. Now you say they attacked because they want a state?? What about from 1948 to 1967 when Jordan and Egypt controlled Palestine? Why didn't Jordan and Egypt give them a state??     The bottom line is that we don’t torture and kill innocent people. Period. If someone was persecuting you, Jon, I would not accept it. No matter what silly excuse they gave me. I don’t ate what religion you are. Nobody cares what religion you are - except weirdos. Normal people want the basics - a good life and they really don’t care what religion you are. It is not about religion - it is about freedom and opportunity to travel and support their family in peace. Israel is not allowing them freedom. Just like you and Ivwant and deserve freedom, they deserve it too.

    @@newidealism3894 Many Jews left Israel long before it was conquered, years of drought, a search for a better way of life, etc. A good portion of Palestinians are in fact the original Jews. They stayed while everyone else left, some converted, others paid the Poll Tax, even David Ben Gurion knew this. Lastly, during the Arab Conquests, the Arabs were smart conquerors for their day, they didn't force conversion, they generally left local customs and religions intact, thus making it a bit more palatable to pay the taxes the Arabs demanded. Jews would eventually go live in all of those surrounding Arab countries for over 2 millennia in relative peace compared to what they went through in Europe.

    I'm not all in on any position on this, but it really feels like he repeatedly avoids dealing with all the difficulties that would obviously follow as a result of his prescribed course of action. What is the right course of action? I have no fkn idea. Everything seems like a bad idea at this point. But this guy is incapable of 2nd order thinking

    Well, I’m an Israeli and there no Israeli who studies and reaserching geo strategy who think Israel doesn’t face an existential threat. Saying Israeli doesn’t really need to worry about the threats around it or non of them and especially all of them together are not existential is very American of him to say.     Democrat USA are an enormous liability not just for Israel but for US allies in general. In Israel, all the upper echelon of the army is basically taking orders from the Pentagon and loosing the war on Hamas in spite of the tactical prowess of Israeli officers and soldiers on the ground.

    I have been listening for a while and this episode is the episode that made me subscribe. Noam was amazing! Noam, I wish you could take this show on the road. People need clarity. Israel is the only democratic force in the Middle East so how would all of these anti-Israel people feel if it didn't exist and the Arab states aligned with Russia? Not to mention all of the "liberals" who would be executed in three seconds if they lived in some of those countries? It is shocking how smart people can not see their internal anti-Semitism.

    ‘Most people’ are irrelevant. Informed people read history and understand that Palestinian rejectionism played a significant part in the suffering of Palestinians. The world community recognized the need for partition and the Palestinians refused to compromise and began a civil war that led to their displacement. Facts matter.

    Mearsheimer is well reasoned and well respected and courageous enough to speak against the Neo Con concencus of the Military Industrial Complex in Washington D.C. Jeffrey Sachs is also a courageous hero for speaking out and leveraging his stellar reputation to tell the truth. Same with journalist Glen Greenwald.
