    Awesome video as always Nick and Matilda. Hang in there y’all will be back on the road in no time. Thank God for putting people like Julian and his family on your path when y’all need a helping hand and the awesome Land Rover mechanic that y’all meet earlier. Also are y’all going to have to change the papers on Albo because of the new engine?

    Tough luck on the breakdown, but what a blessing that it happened where somebody could come to your rescue. So far, everyone you've met in Australia seems to be good people.

    PLease be sure you have the top level roadside assistance. A recovery from the middle of the country to a city on the coast could cost you $10,000. Also be sure you carry 50lt of water and top it up every time you get fuel. Oh, and one last thing, make sure you have a steel mesh stone guard in front of the radiator.

    Engine shopping is a nightmare! Try a BMW N47, there are 3 different configuration bases for it, one doesn't swap with the other, they are also a real stupid design and the cam chain doesn't get lubricated so only lasts 70-ish thou miles... The 300tdi on the other hand, is a lot easier, one engine fits all and the Def just has a bracket for the air filter that can be modded to look right and not need the head bolts removing. I think that's why I loke the older engines as less complicated and less to go wrong. they just work.

    This man helping you out is a legend. Amazing what he did. Hopefully all turns out fine in the end. I still believe a Toyota Land Cruiser is the better deal on reliability worldwide.

    Sorry to hear about your misfortune guys. Glad that you met a legend like Julian ... single handedly restoring faith in humanity. I guess though, mechanical setbacks are expected after 81000 km's or so. I'm really glad you're continuing your adventures. I've only just caught up after watching all your adventure videos. I donated some cash to your GoFundMe to see you back on the road. Looking forward to seeing you in Brisbane or Queensland at least. Take care and keep safe.

    Do some modification in your videos! Instead of showing your faces in entire video and ending up your videos with your faces. That's we called as boring. Take some guide from video experts and keep your face 10 to 20% and make your videos with good content.

    Hey Guys Just watched your video. I’m so happy you found a replacement engine for your rig. Great people in Australia I actually have two friends that live in Australia one is in Perth where you are at. It’s unfortunate that this happened a second time for you guys. Being that it happened here in the U.S. Nick, you should of driven that nice Red FJ40 parked next to your rig. Get a feel for them rigs. Anyways good luck to you guys you will be running in no time. Cheers my fiends Jorge

    Great video, I do like the old production a bit more the way Matilde made the videos herself but I do like the captions to the places you are at. Still enjoy watching the content… & Matilde I’m assuming you’re not vegan any more? What made you want to go back to eating meat? Just curious, I’m vegan myself.

    Hi, New subscriber here, I joined off Eva's channel when you parted ways in Alaska. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I didn't get notified you had new uploads and I had been waiting to watch your new adventures since you left South America. I just binge watched since you arrived in Australia. I hope your new engine swap goes smoothly! Aussies always seem like good people!

    Now I also see you’ve been fiddling in the ECU for more power…. Oh dear. Unfortunately this is the result. EGR delete, ECU fiddling, cracked piston… All totally avoidable!

  • @English_Speaking_Fox
    @English_Speaking_Fox6 күн бұрын

    I have read through the comments and see that you have got an EGR delete. This is a very bad idea on these engines and very few people that do this really understand what issues it can cause long term. When the vehicle is running at moderate load at cruising speed, the engine’s computer (ECM) is expecting the EGR to be open and some exhaust gas to be entering the combustion chamber. Because the exhaust gas is now oxygen depleted, the air / egr mix has a lower overall oxygen content than air alone, consequently it combusts with the diesel at a lower temperature. If you block / blank / delete the EGR, your engine is receiving 100% air, so the combustion is hotter than the engine is designed for, and on long overland cruising for extended periods of time, this gradually causes metal fatigue in the pistons. These engines are not designed to run for long periods of time without EGR reducing combustion temperatures! We have seen a number of vehicles coming to our shop that have had piston failures, including the 2.2 Puma. Sometimes the owner is honest about having blanked the EGR, other times when we have inspected the EGR we can see the witness marks on the bolts telling us that they have just been in there to remove a blanking plate before bringing the vehicle in. These engines run at high compression, high stress and changing the operating conditions without proper compensation in the fuelling is death to pistons in the long run. There is an enormous amount of misinformation about EGR delete on the Internet. Be careful with what you choose to believe. You will find plenty about what I’ve just told you, please have a major rethink because you’re just going to go and damage your new engine in the long run. Talk to Ford / Land Rover engineers, most regular mechanics don’t really understand this matter.

    We've been following your journeys from Washington State in the US. Love your videos! So glad you found such a kind and helpful family to help you through the engine troubles. Reminds us that most people in the world are kind and we need focus more on the good than the bad. Can't wait to see the next leg. Sending you our best 🙏🏻
