Stranger gives us his 4x4 to travel Australia - EP 103
This is a NEW continent on our WORLD TOUR JOURNEY: we have finally made it to Australia! Vegemite on toast, flies in the eyes, red dirt on the road sides, sleeping under the stars in an Aussie Swag…
In this episode we go for the full Australian camp set up to explore the South Western coast of the country.
The journey begins as we land in Perth, the capital of Western Australia. Almost 60 days ago we put our Land Rover Defender, our home on wheels in a container from Uruguay to Australia. As we fly to Oz we learn that the container is delayed and are left with extra days on our hands. No way we stay running in circles in the big city. We did not come all the way across the world to sit still. We are hosted by the most generous and welcoming friend of the channel, Frans, who opened his home as if we were family. Frans also saved the day when he offered to lend us his 4x4 and camping set up for our little adventure to the South. With his help we were ready for our first Australian adventure!
We love trying a different set up for once. What a change from the Albatross! With our Western Australia plate, our "ute" (pickup truck in Australia) and our "swag" (cocoon-shaped tent from Australia) we feel more local than ever. We take-off to discover the endless roads of the desert and the gorgeous coastline of the South West: Hyden, Billion Beach, Esperance, Lucky Beach, Wharton Beach.
Thank you to Matador for travelling with us, the past 6 weeks, our backpacks were like home! Matador does fantastic high performance travel equipment that we have been using during our adventures over the last 2 years. Click on the link to check out their gear: alnk.to/a42nDqX
See you next week for more Australian adventures!
Until then, take care.

It is so heartwarming to see such open, friendly, trusting people like Frank, who offered you the use of his 4 x 4 for a week. Maybe it sounds incredible at first, but I believe that many many people in the world are like this. We have just forgotten sometimes how to trust each other because of all the bad press that we are fed. Thank you, Frank and thank you Nick and Matilde for redressing the balance and restoring our hope and trust in humanity to do what is right by each other. I loved wave rock I am going to do some more research about it 😊
So pleased with the real map idea! I LOVE maps. Nothing is like a weathered map, so as a book, well read and travelled ❤ One can read and watch so much about Australia, but discovering it through your eyes is going to be absolutely fantastic. It is getting so real! Thank you!

Beautiful oceans. unfortunately the Rip currents in Australia are very strong, narrow seaward flowing currents that start from the shoreline and can take you quickly out through the surf and a short distance beyond the breaking waves. Rip currents are one of the greatest, and most common, hazards on Australian beaches. On average, rip currents are responsible for at least many drownings deaths in Australia each year. You also have a lot of sharks, I hope you get to enjoy those beautiful oceans in the land downunder! Just wondering if the Oceans are cold?

Hmmm. Not as many flies as I remember camping in Australia, though that was mostly in Queensland. I highly recommend a horseback ride where you can experience the joy of cantering along while being pursued by a black cloud. Take in Tasmania. Very pretty. Though I’m an American, my grandmother was born and raised in Tasmania. Funny place to think of as the old country. Apps have their merits, even strong merits, but a paper map gives perspective. A road atlas book is a bit easier to deal with than folding maps.

@@NextMeridianExpedition Thanks. Yes, that drone is like 8K, though my TV is only 1080 it is still very clear and like being there. Well worth the money. You are only going to those places once, so why not use the best drone you can afford? You will never be sorry. I can imagine when you are all done, and sitting in a chair at home, seeing those drone shots is going to pul you very hard to go back. I know I could never hold a normal job after doing what you are doing and having seen what you have seen. Do whatever it takes to get the subs up so you never have to work again and can keep traveling. This is another thing, if you can, post twice a week and make them longer with more scenery. My wife made the comment, "just show me the pictures, I do not care about the people or what they say." I do, but I have a feeling most people are like my wife. Eva talks a lot. That works for a single cute woman traveling alone. That was her hook. Especially in the beginning when she was in some pretty sketchy or very remote locations. You guys are relatively normal. Beautiful shots and locations should do it for you. You also need thumb titles that are click bait. Stuff like "It died", "Stranded in the Outback", "Eaten by a shark". Answers to the preceding. A kangaroo roadkill, Someone else, and a fish. LOL. Yes. When I watched it it was about 11AM in New York. I assumed the difference was about 12 hours.

Oooh dreamy list
You got stitched up with that much vegemite! Much better having vegemite with your butter, not a chunk like you had. Too bad you didn’t see kangaroos on Lucky Bay!

Bonjour d'Aix en Provence/Hi guys, I follow your voyage on YT and find it very inspiring. Apart from all of Europe, and 10 years of work and travels in Africa, I did the Halifax to Inuvik/Tuktuyaktu drive, then down to Frisco via the Inside Passage and back to Baltimore. After 35+ countries that I lived in and traveled, I can tell you that I always loved to cook local dishes, go to local markets, see local art and culture. That is unfortunately a bit missing in your videos. Why not show local bars, music events, local diners, restauants, street food?? Just a thought. Stay safe and have a great trip. hey Andreas, merci de ton retour. tu as raison que ca n'est pas tres present. on a nous aussi habité dans plusieurs pays étranger avant ce voyage et on adore cet aspect. on réfléchissait et une de nos limitations on s'est rendu compte que c'est qu'on est timide de filmer des endroits avec du monde. filmer des gens sans demander l'autorisation nécessairement au préalable. et ca nous limite vachement pour avoir justement le cote plus culturel... on va travailler la question... je suis déterminée a améliorer cet aspect. hahaha
Matilde you are losing your french accent when you speak english😁 Salut du Portugal
