3000km in 6 days (Ushuaia to Buenos Aires) - EP 99
3000km+ in Argentina from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires, 7 days of non-stop driving, temperatures raising from 5 to 35 degrees Celcius, half a million Magellanic penguins, 548 pee break, 2 border crossings, a ferry crossing and… a big announcement.
Last week we completed officially our drive through the entire length of the American continent. 18 months on the road alongside the Pan American, a super journey but not the end of the road for us. Our world tour continues and we are not yet ready to go back home. In this episode we leave Ushuaia and complete in 7 days a drive through the entire east coast of Argentina. It kind of felt like it would never end but thankfully we were with our good friend Tom and we made it, right in time for the big announcement…
We hope you are as excited as us for what’s coming up next on our journey,
We show you all the detail of that little project in next week’s episode…
In the meantime, take care!
Nick & Mathilde

I drove a Big Truck (tractor-trailer driver) Depending on the speed limit. IE 100 K / hr. I divided 95 into 1000. I get approximately 10 and a half hours. We can't do exactly 100 k/hr because of stops and road conditions. I used to drive 900-1000 k depending on the terrain
Awesome video as always Nick and Matilda. The South America chapter is coming to a close it's been a epic chapter of y'all's journey around the world. But Australia's chapter is about to be opened up can't wait to see all the epic places y'all are going to explore and epic adventure y'all are going to have. Thanks for letting us ride along with y'all on y'all's journey around the world.

I know how you feel, when a freeway is wide and straight you can see everything coming for so long and you never see any of it up close because the shoulders are so wide on these highly developed routes. I used to drive all over Canada and I can go forever on back roads without getting bored but on the freeway I go insane with boredom!

I once drove 1000km in an old car with a gas tank that was wired up to the frame. From the end of the Gaspe (mouth of the St. Lawrence River) to northern NY State. Took about 13 hours. We would have stopped, but it was the same all the way. Water on the right, big hill or cliff on the left. Every once in a while we would go through a town. I just wanted to get back because I was worried that the gas tank would fall down. Never did. I drove it like that for another year before the clutch pedal broke off in my parents driveway. 😀 You are doing it the right way. My logic, being a broke graduate student in fine art photography was, I have to do it to get pictures! I never had good cars, so I was used to it.

Guys… We have seen ALL your episodes. We love to travel too. Since you are stuck in a strict schedule and are under a lot of pressure to produce as many videos as you do… Perhaps it is a good thing that someone else puts you with your feet back on the ground. You have said AT LEAST 40 times “ah… we’ll be back here”. But you know very well that it is impossible to visit all those places again unless… you do the same route again. So… Why not cut the rest of the route in half, or even less, so that you have enough time at those places to not have to visit again ? Traveling is NOT about quantity but about QUALITY ! You have been racing like contenders in Paris Dakkar ! Why not take a break of at least a year between continents ? What do you have to wish for in the future if you hurry your way through such fine areas ? If you don’t slow down, i will guarantee you that in a few years you are so confused by the incredible amount of impressions, that you will not be able to trace your memories back to the places. So… SLOW DOWN ! You have more than enough time left ! I don’t think you will follow our advice so… Stay safe while we enjoy your adventures !!

Hi thanks for watching the episodes! And for the kind concerns. From what we saw and discussed with other travelers 18 months is not an uncommon timing for the Americas. And we actually ended up being slower than many others (faster than some of course). So it comes to what one wants on the moment, we saw people doing the entire panamerican in 7 months and at the time it felt almost absurd until we thought that if it was their trip and they chose to do it that way then why not? And yes we believe that if we want to come back on day we could. In some of the places we had already been for instance, Nick in peru, mathilde in Argentina. We re surely making choices. But that how everything is in life. If we feel the drive to see all the continent at the moment. It s like an urge. We know we re already very lucky to do this trip which is a dream and we want to complete the loop before being able to have a family. Which is something you can’t delay forever. So yes many things come into play. But I think you re right we should not rush. That s why we make choices in every country we visit. We don’t do everything, just things that inspire us at this point in time :) we promised to each other that if we are tired we d stop or slow down. So all I have written might very well no longer stand in a month a year or two years. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and caring about us in this way!
