Hey, we're Jordanna and Grant, a married couple from England. We've quit our corporate jobs to backpack around South East Asia.
Our plan is to explore new places, soak up the culture, eat fantastic food and generally have an amazing time. We decided to document our travels so that we would have something to look back on, but also so that we could inspire other people to travel, and give some amazing recommendations to people who are planning a trip to this part of the world.
As well as travelling (and learning how to vlog), we'll also be running our business, Shot in the Dark Games, whilst we're out here. We design and create fun, affordable and inclusive games, which are sold in the UK, US, Europe and Australia.

Being completely useless with chopsticks and not keen on noodle soup, banh mi came to my aid more times than i can remember. I loved the restos that served up rice and pork chops too, I ate plenty of them. Worth mentioning the plentiful cheap beers too, i had more of them than the pork chops 😊
At this resort at the moment after watching your video….this place is unbelievable, I’m speechless at how good it is. Thank you
what’s the nearest airport?
I am so beyond convinced to go! Also I have a funny question like did you use a gopro to take videos while you were on the rides or something? the video is so clear I wanna do it myself 🤣
We are waiting video at Indonesia 😊
Don't think denge fever gives u diarrhea.
I travel around the tropics with a mosquito tent. Even in air conditioned rooms, I find them necessary in places like Thailand.
Could you recommend the Rafting Company you used?
We went with Bali Bintang Rafting and they were great - we’d definitely recommend them!
Are you guys still travelling??
Informative video, thanks.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
How did you get an $80 deal? Great video, thanks for sharing.
We booked on Booking.com, we’ve used it so much we sometimes get a bit of discount, so it might be that maybe? Either way it was a lovely hotel. If you’re looking for something a bit cheaper we LOVED the Muong Hoa Valley and next time we visit we’re going to stay at an Ecolodge / homestay in the valley just outside of Sapa town, and the scenery is amazing. And we’ll just get a taxi up to Sapa town for things like the visit to Fansipan.
Sir Edmund Hillary might have conquered mountain peaks, but he didnt do it wearing flip flops! Way to go!
😂😂😂 thanks! We still do this all the time - we never learn our lessons haha!
before you go travel to tropic country do first you home work. you just jump in plane en go for it,,so stupid.
Do they have accommodations?
Yes, there are a couple pretty much next door to the theme park which are owned by the same company. There is the Melia VinPearl Phu Quoc which is a fantastic 5-star hotel and then the much more affordable (but still nice) Vinholidays Fiesta. Other than the Safari, and theme park there isn’t loads nearby though (this is on the north tip of the island). If you want to be nearer to the action you could always stay nearer to town and get a taxi to the theme park? If so, our favourite hotels nearer to town are Camia Resort (mid range) and Palm Bay Resort (lovely family run budget hotel)
Its help if you do a little bit of research before trying all these foods to be able to enjoy them. Haidilao famous hot pot chain restaurants througout southeast asia. When ordering stick to what you're familiar with. just throw everything inside the soup and you'll be able to enjoy it after a couple of minutes. Thanks for the vid...
On sleeper bus yesterday from airport to SaPa...nice large bunk, nice aircon. Daytime with views. Good driver... no over speeding.
Glad you had a better experience than us. Which company did you use if you don’t mind me asking?
How many days are required to complete this whole vin wonders? 1 or 2?
Thanks for coming to our Country! I am watching this because I am going to take my children there when we visit our home country.
Sorry if I missed this. Where is the Hand shot in your beginning promo
It’s a place called Moana in Sapa, it’s basically a photo spot at the top of the valley with really cool views. We have a video called ‘The Most Instagrammable Place In Vietnam’ which has the hand as the thumbnail pic - if you watch that video you’ll see us go there and show you around the place!
Another good presentation, criminally underwatched.
yes,,,come and feel it ,please , so wonderful 👌👍
Thanks, we’ll definitely visit again!
What time of year did you go? Thanks
We’ve travelled to Vietnam a few times over the last 18 months or so, I’m pretty sure this video was mid to late September.
Was there places close by to go eat off property? Thanks And how was the food prices on property?
There wasn’t much nearby to be honest (other than the golf course, theme park and grand world), it was a bit of a long taxi to get to town - as is fairly common with the fancy hotels in Phu Quoc. There were lots of restaurants on site (an Italian, a Japanese, an international buffet, a sports bar and a Spanish restaurant) so we were happy to eat in the hotel most of the time. We thought the food prices on the site were higher than at local restaurants but fair for the high quality of the food. We returned last week and we probably paid 200k - 300k VND per person per meal for food, which is in line with what we’d expect at a 5-star hotel in Vietnam. Genuinely, all the food we had was exceptional.
The boiled veg soup is a common side dish in Vietnam. Vietnamese people usually eat rice together with a small bowl of soup. The meaning of it is to help your digestion when eating, especially when chewing chewy food. Vietnamese do not like to eat something too soft. They must be a bit crunchy, a bit chewy. We do not drink so much during eating because it makes you easily feel full. Then you have a replacement of a small soup bowl.
Ahhh, that makes sense. Thank you so much for the info!
You filled the day well and got well sloshed by the end of it, bravo.
Haha thanks, we had a very fun day! Sightseeing, tasty food and even tastier wine - can’t go wrong!
Drunk on cheese i think. I’m off to Vietnam (first time) and just found your vlogs. I don’t know how to make good vlogs or make them at all, what I know is, I know what is entertaining to watch and the two I’ve watch so far (Sapa coach with the waving😂) are fanny as fook😂. Gonna binge a few more, cheers.
Thank you so much! We hope you find all our videos helpful and enjoyable to watch! And we hope you have a fantastic time when you visit Vietnam! 😀
Comical, loved it. Toenails, sweaty blankets, women peering through your bus window😂 The view seems like it was worth it all 😊
Are you guys… at this resort RIGHT NOW?! My family and I are visiting this place, and I watched this exact video a few days ago!!
Hahaha yes we are here! We loved it so much we’ve come back again to celebrate my birthday! Hope you’re enjoying the hotel?
Awesome, birthdays at Melia Vinpearl 🙌 yes, loving this place so far.. breakfast buffets have been the best! Didn’t want to bother you guys during your meal earlier. Enjoy your stay too!!
Thanks! 🙌 Glad you guys are enjoying it. We’re so glad to be back at this amazing hotel! Ahh next time you see us you’ll have to come over and say hi 👋
It is a bit wierd... We just watced this video today and we met you guys in themepark on a same day! What a coincidence!! So how was your day today in themepark?
Haha such a small world! We had another great day at VinWonders - it was so nice to be back! Hope you guys had a great day?
@@shotinthedarktravel Just awesome!
Hello I'm binge watching your Vietnam playlist now. Have you released a cost video of your trip to Vietnam? Would live to get an idea of how much to plan for. This was in June of last year correct?
Hey! So glad to hear that you’re enjoying our videos! Thanks for watching 🙌 We haven’t done a cost video although it is on our to do list! We’ve visited Vietnam 4 or 5 times over the last 18 months (we’re literally in Phu Quoc now as I’m writing this) so it was all filmed at different times. For costs we generally stay at a nice mid-range hotel that would probably be a 4-star hotel in the west, never the best hotel in town but always somewhere near to everything, good reviews, private room, usually a pool etc and we average £30-35 per night for hotels. Spending money depends a lot on if you eat local food or at fancy western restaurants, whether you drink alcohol and how many trips / excursions you do. We generally spend £10-20 per person on days we relax around the pool and eat at local restaurants. Probably £40 per person on days we eat at nicer western restaurants and have a few drinks (I like beer which is cheap but my wife drinks wine which are much more expensive). A lot of the time the sightseeing is getting super cheap taxis to places that aren’t very expensive, so not really impacting the budget, maybe once a week we go somewhere expensive like Bana Hills that is roughly £30 per person entry plus another £20 on food and drink whilst you are there. We never get bikes but taxis are incredibly cheap, to the point they aren’t even worth factoring into budgets. Internal flights are really convenient and cheap - probably averaging £40 per person. On average we probably spend roughly £40-50 per person per day in total (travelling as a couple) for everything including hotel and spending money. We travel relatively luxuriously but nothing super fancy, and drink probably more alcohol than we should 😂 I hope this is helpful, but let me know if you have any questions!
Hi just found your channel. Super informative about the park.👍🌞Would you mind sharing how long you stayed and what was your total cost for the trip?💰🤔 Trying to set up a month trip to Da Nang, then maybe a 3 or 5 day trip to VinWonders Phú Quốc😊
Nha Trang is nice but Danang is better❤
is this staged? dude does not seem sick at all....
Wow, I got dengue fever on the same island in the 90s! I literally almost died I was solo and was stuck in my bungalow for three days before I got the strength to crawl down the hill to town. Luckily a local auntie knew what I needed, let me stay in her guest bed and nurse me back to life. It was the sickest I’ve ever been in my life glad you’re doing OK man!
You people are soft
We’re not soft, we just have standards…
Standards, but no money?
Thanks for your concern but we have plenty of money. There is no airport in Sapa so we couldn’t fly, and we didn’t want to rent a car or drive scooters because the roads aren’t safe. So the best options were ‘VIP’ sleeper bus or 1st class train. We went with what we thought would be the best option.
Instead of being dubbed as the "Bali of the Philippines," let's simply recognize it for what it is: Siargao.
I was scared 😱 of booking vip sleeper … not I m confirmed 😅… better flight instead
Or the other option is to get a limousine (basically a large modern minibus)
What's the name of the Roof Top Bar and the places where you took the pictures.
This is why you get travel vaccinations and use high deet spray.
kerala kochi have fans for you
where is your wonderla kochi video
I'm ready to go there. Thank you for sharing
Philippines is a paradise country❤️🇵🇭 i have to go there⛱️🏝️
I caught dengue fever whilst in northern India… I didn’t have travel insurance and had to ride it out in the guest house I was staying in. I felt like I was dying it was the worst I’ve felt in my life…
Is September good time to visit Langkawi? Also better options for car rentals?
Appreciate it if you can write what you say in the video i am not used to british accent. I can catch up only like 50% of the video
You can turn on Closed captioning
What an amazing video. Thanks. Maybe I misses something: whar is the travel time from Ho Chi Min City to to the Mekong Delta?
