Another great video and so useful for planning our Vietnam trip. I would love to see your videos get the recognition they deserve. So many KZreadrs just go somewhere and show you what they eat for a week and then think they are an authority on a country. I love that you guys show so many excursions, trips and activities.

Thank you so much, genuinely really happy to hear that you enjoyed our video and found it helpful in planning your trip! 😊 It can be a little disheartening putting huge amounts of effort into our making videos as good as we physically can, for some of them to get a few hundred views. So it always makes our day when someone tells us they really enjoyed them / found them helpful! Fingers crossed one of our videos can go viral and give our channel a jump start! 🤞

You guys did a great job of flushing out many of the great things to do/see in Vietnam. It's unfortunate you're not getting the views that other channels have gotten for doing less. I think youtube algorithms just aren't in your favor for whatever reason. If you come back, do Phong Nha (not sure how adventurous you guys are especially in regards to caving, but I'm sure there are levels you can do and enjoy), do canyoning in Da Lat and other stuff around there, Cat Ba island, Ba Be Lake...and climb Yen Tu like Jeannie Mai of Hello Hunnay did.

Thank you so much! Really glad to hear that you liked the video 😊 and thank you so much for the recommendations! 🙌 We will 100% be coming back (it’s literally our favourite country in the world now!) so these are all super helpful, and have all been added to our list for next time! 👍 God knows why we aren’t getting the views yet (I’m hoping it’s because we’re still relatively new and don’t have loads of videos). It’s a bit frustrating watching quite a few other KZreadrs (which I aren’t going to name publicly 😂🤫) getting 100 times more views than us but making videos that - in our opinion - feel a lot worse. Don’t get me started on the types of vloggers who jump into Vietnam for 7-10 days, do only the absolute bog standard stuff, then get hundreds of thousands of views with their ‘Everything you need to know to visit Vietnam’ and ‘X best places to visit in Vietnam’ (spoiler alert: it turned out to be every single place they visited) 😂

@@shotinthedarktravel I think title, thumbnails, etc., all play into it. But youtube also needs to recommend your videos to viewers and if they are not doing that, then no one will watch it. I remember watching videos from "Sammy and Tommy" last year and marveling at how well their videos were done (they even got a compliment from Sonny from the "Best Ever Food Review Show"...which is like high praise since he has 10 million subs and his videos are so well made), but they weren't getting the views I thought they should. I think they've gotten more since I first watched, but I also understood their frustrations then. Then again, their Vietnam videos were from a trip they took 2 years prior and they didn't release it til last year, so who knows. I think some people just get lucky off of one video and then they play off that momentum...so you just need a few lucky videos that are viral-ish...but you also have to be prepared to pump videos out regularly when that happens (once or twice a week, I'm guessing). Someone mentioned putting up the Vietnam flag in the title as it makes the video stand out and easier to find (but you'll get a few very loud and opinionated southern overseas Viets whom will go on about communism, which you just need to ignore).

Oh, also go to Nha Trang and do the mud bath there. I'm sure you guys can find other interesting stuff we've not seen there. And of course, the Ha Giang Loop is always amazing...if you don't want to ride the loop yourselves or don't want to be on the back of a scooter for 4-5 days, then do there's an open jeep tour that I saw advertised....but they say you definitely need to spend 4-5 days to see the loop without missing out).

@@shotinthedarktravel Oh, in Nha Trang, you guys can do "scuba diving"!! I saw a video from Mai Pham on it and it's super cool. It's the kind where you wear those olden day types of helmets that go underwater with a breathing tube attached to it. I thought that was the coolest thing ever and never saw any others do it before. She also went on the jet ski which looked like a ton of fun.

Hey! So glad to hear that you’re enjoying our videos! Thanks for watching 🙌 We haven’t done a cost video although it is on our to do list! We’ve visited Vietnam 4 or 5 times over the last 18 months (we’re literally in Phu Quoc now as I’m writing this) so it was all filmed at different times. For costs we generally stay at a nice mid-range hotel that would probably be a 4-star hotel in the west, never the best hotel in town but always somewhere near to everything, good reviews, private room, usually a pool etc and we average £30-35 per night for hotels. Spending money depends a lot on if you eat local food or at fancy western restaurants, whether you drink alcohol and how many trips / excursions you do. We generally spend £10-20 per person on days we relax around the pool and eat at local restaurants. Probably £40 per person on days we eat at nicer western restaurants and have a few drinks (I like beer which is cheap but my wife drinks wine which are much more expensive). A lot of the time the sightseeing is getting super cheap taxis to places that aren’t very expensive, so not really impacting the budget, maybe once a week we go somewhere expensive like Bana Hills that is roughly £30 per person entry plus another £20 on food and drink whilst you are there. We never get bikes but taxis are incredibly cheap, to the point they aren’t even worth factoring into budgets. Internal flights are really convenient and cheap - probably averaging £40 per person. On average we probably spend roughly £40-50 per person per day in total (travelling as a couple) for everything including hotel and spending money. We travel relatively luxuriously but nothing super fancy, and drink probably more alcohol than we should 😂 I hope this is helpful, but let me know if you have any questions!

Just curious, was XO the only food tour you took? The thing I'm not keen on XO is that they've customized their tours so Westerners aren't really getting the genuine experience (i.e. removing herbs and fresh veggies - which are a HUGE part of Vietnamese cuisine - from the foods the order...I know they do it because they said they don't want Westerners to get stomach problems due to the water the veggies are washed in, but it's a big part of Vietnamese cuisine and they should at least explain that certain veggies herbs are eaten with a dish in a certain way and give the customers a choice if they want to eat it like a typical local or not).

We’ve done plenty of food tours in other countries but we’ve never done one in Vietnam before (and we’ve never done one that was this good before!) I think we’ll definitely do on in Hanoi and a few other cities next time if you have any recommendations? It did seem like there was a lot of herbs and veggies. Not sure if they’ve taken that feedback on board since you did it, or if there should have been even more? Either way, as someone whose stomach can’t always handle Asian cooking (I literally spent 2 weeks on the toilet in Bali after having some local food there! 😂) it’s maybe a good thing for me that they might have done that. It’s a shame if the food isn’t fully authentic, but it was a lot more authentic than most of the food tourists eat in Vietnam, and I can see why they wouldn’t want to risk it! Thanks again for continuing to watch our videos and provide super helpful comments and advice for next time - it really means a lot to us! 😊🙌

@@shotinthedarktravel The best food tour videos I've seen came out to Hanoi...the videos were from "Flora and Note", "Sammy and Tommy," "This Food Bangz", MomDuty, etc. I also loved the one that "Chase and Shelbs" did in HCMC and "Steph and Pete" did in Hoi An. Hoi An has a ton of amazing food, so maybe also find all the highly rated places (go to Ba Le Whale, Morning Glory, Nu Eatery, etc...which are more real sit down restaurants).

Thanks so much for watching our videos 😊 Sorry if our playlist is confusing. The playlist has the top ten at the start, and then all of the places we visited in Vietnam, in the order that we went to them (starting with 24 hours in Hanoi and ending with the Banh Mi Festival) We travelled around Vietnam in a bit of a funny order, because my parents travelled with us at the start and we wanted them to see all parts of the country in their limited time, so we rushed from North to South and then went back across the country and filled in the gaps after they left. Hopefully that makes sense but let me know if you still have any questions 👍
