Hullo Lindsay, I have been thinking about those very small sample squares. I believe that you can create a “quilt” of these for a larger palette/sketchbook carrier! So create a pattern of the small pieces and sew them onto a sheet of cotton or felt or any substrate then turn that into an excellent carry-all! Or as a multi-surface palette pouch! Thank you for sharing all of these ideas with us. If I was looking for a place to help me fire my pottery I would run an AD in the local paper or the free hand out sheet from the grocery store, do you have those in Maine? Ask for a local potter who has a kiln and ask what they might charge you? Trade art for kiln time? I bet there are plenty of people that have kilns sitting in the garage and you helping them get it in action can work for you both! Please take care, be safe and enjoy your weekend!

This is a great tutorial! I recently purchased a couple of travel cases with plein aire or longer flight art time opportunities in mind. But mine are slightly larger (and closes with a zipper so you don’t lose anything) both open flat and can are easily carried. “We” need to figure out how to make these with sturdy with (metal not plastic) zippers. They are a bit pricey, and they are extremely durable, almost military grade, pouches (which I find myself grabbing daily). If you want an idea of my portable studio (a carry over lifestyle from my days as a college art instructor) keep reading! The larger one (6x10x2”) has two interior pockets (one side has a sketchbook, the other side holds my Schminke retro mini w/c palette and Art Toolkit (the larger size) palette (filled with Daniel Smith w/c). Each side also has several other smaller pockets (still on the inside, but sewn to the pocket not the exterior fabric) which holds a mini spray bottle, syringe (for filling various water or ink pens), a double sided Art Toolkit credit card sized palette (one side for gouache/one for watercolor), a leather pouch with 4 travel brushes, a pencil, black pen, brass nib dip pen, several paint brushes, a 1”x 1/4” case that holds a kneadable eraser, and a recycled mio bottle that carries water and fills several pens (thanks for that great idea!). The smaller one (4x6x2”) holds drawing supplies: Four sizes of mechanical pencils, and refill leads (2B, 4B) for each, 4 types and sizes of permanent black drawing pens, a set of artists woodless leads (white, sepia, black, etc), erasers (white plastic, sanded kneadable, Tombow mono zero), 6” ruler, Art Toolkit (credit card sized) mini palette, two water brushes and a travel (flat) brush.

Lovely Sat chat as always! I wonder if a local high school or college has a ceramics class with a kiln that would allow people use it for a fee? Though the idea of making pottery just for the process and not the final product sounds so fun!

Your outfit with the sunglasses is so cute! You look ready to take on the world in your convertible. Does Jason have a drillpress? Those mini paint sets probably wouldn't be too hard to make and you could customize them. The iris is beautiful. My dad used to have a variety of bearded iris so I'm looking forward to that class. I'm not a minimalist in any sense, but being purposeful in what stays in my house and my life makes a lot of sense and can weed out the chaff. I'm going to check into that KZreadr. Thanks for that and thanks for another great Sat Chat.

I love all the gold nuggets in this sat chat!! Can't wait to hear all the fun outdoor painting adventures you go on this summer! We live in Texas in the middle of nowhere and it is a 45 minute drive to town plus its gets in the 100s around this time of year; so I don't get out much except for an early morning walk or a family evening walk before the bugs come out to rule the night. I don't even know if we have a place close by to do any pattle boarding. In fact I hadn't hear of it until you mentioned it. We do have a lake in the big city. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for all your hard work and sharing with us! I was thinking of making leather cases for my travel palettes instead of buying anything new so now I'm off to watch your videos as I'm a copycat at heart...lol! I've never done WWM before only just hear of it last year. I do try to paint daily but usually with a tutorial maybe it's time to step out and try painting without a tutorial! Love your encouragement and easy access to learning art!! It has been amazing for me and I'm so very grateful!!

I know you have updated videos of this product. I just couldn’t find the answer to my question anywhere online. Did Arteza rebrand the expert watercolor pencils as Pro series? Or the other way around? I know premium is student grade but after that many I’m lost. Thanks

I just realized I have some perfect material for this leftover from redoing some seats for a boat! Ooh thanks so much Lindsay for the inspiration! Now 🤔 do I have something I can use already for a closure fastener… I would also imagine you could stitch on a belt loop that could be threaded on the belt, for carrying it vs a key ring or even both for options!! Thanks so much for sharing, the wheels are turning now! 😁 Also WoW that is a corner “chomper” I just have little ones like paper punches, but that is quite the tool. I need to look at that a bit closer! You are not the only one, these are definitely cool!

Awesome idea! I especially love the fact that you had everything you needed on hand. I once recommended your channel to someone who either needed a source for thorough, honest reviews on art products or a possible way to modify an art supply or tool to use in an unconventional way in an art project (I forget which one). I described you as “the MacGyver of the art world." 😁

Do you think that part of finding your creative style is trying out all the different mediums? I'm struggling to find what works for me. I love love art. But am pretty bad at it. Should I buy books and learn about light and composition first? And color mixing? I've played w Acrylics, they dry to fast. I like watercolor. I am drawn to detail work though. But hate markers lol. I live in an apartment so can't do oils. I'm so confused lol!!!

You might be able to lap the seam allowance on sides and super glue together. That way you won’t have “wings” sticking out. It might be easier to add snaps and loop before sewing side seams. Great pattern idea. TFS😻

I love your holsters. I don't paint outdoors (allergies mainly) so I don't "need" any but they are cute. They could be very addictive. I just heard about and watched a gal who mentioned that book. What she shared was very enlightening and something thoughtful. Even beyond de-cluttering. It was very helpful regarding mindset and those of us who suffer from immune disorders. Setting realistic goals - that's the video I watched, the gal about the cabinets. Even sent it to my sister. Wow, what a small world. I clicked on her video by happenchance. The video site was called Towards a Simple Life and it really is good.

Totally understand not waiting... I used to tell myself you can't craft til you get stuffed cleaned up, which meant I didn't get to craft much and felt like I was being punished, etc. Then, I made creating part of the cleaning routine... instead of moving a work in progress around so I can clean, I go ahead and finish it. I usually have several projects going at one time, so once I get one project completed I finish a couple more and put the supplies away, and then my space slowly gets clean.
