I think what you’re feeling is very much like a let down feeling after a big event. You did a lot of prep and had excitement for the retreat and now it’s over. I felt the same way after all three of my kids got married - after their weddings. Also your skin is amazing. So pretty and smooth. If only I had your skin! 😃

I can totally relate to the anxiety in large energy transactions, especially when it is rooted in social interactions. I get anxious before, slightly during, and after. I hosted an in person in December of 2023 and felt the same way. I am better on KZread with editing. lol. 😂 The funny thing is I use to teach in person with great joy before KZread. The great thing is that these uneasy feelings are temporary and your greatness is everlasting. Rest assured you gave it all you had and that is all we can do. Thanks for being brave enough to share. ❤📄✂️🙌😂😎🥰

Sounds like one of the reasons you feel bad, from what I can gather is from some comments that might have seemed nasty or rude… I don’t know if this helps at all but often when people are obnoxious they are acting out of their own feelings that may have nothing to do with you 😊 Someone like yourself with a KZread show cannot possibly be responsible for everybody’s feelings, unfortunately you can’t please every one and a lot of us have this notion in our head that we must please EVERYONE ! Or else there’s something wrong with us…and that often comes with unresolved trauma… Like me I had a very big problem being bullied in high school by “ the mean girls” because I was such a nerd…! Don’t ever think you must be everything to everybody…you are beautiful as you are 🥰

We are all in gratitude for what we now have in our lives due to your connection. That is a great gift that keeps on giving. I hope you can feel that as loving energy coming your way and let it in. Life is too short - hope you have a great summer full of fun experiences and joy!

You are amazing. How many sat chats did you do to help us during Covid. How many free tutorials are posted by you and if that were not enough, your knowledge about the items you post. The wealth is in you, who else could have made watercolor from pigments on the spot as requested. Are you sure there is not a whole art kit hidden in that bandanna. You do a great service and thank you for all the encouragement you provided to me a person you have never met. Take care

I feel exactly like this and I don’t have a big thing like your trip. Please do not doubt yourself. Yes you are an amazing teacher. We need you, at least I need you and look forward to every video. Please try to just breathe. Sometimes that’s what we need too. Just take a minute to breathe, you are enough, you are needed, you are amazing. Chin up, love ya.

Happy Saturday Lindsay. I would definitely prefer being on a retreat with someone who isn't "on" the whole time! We all need the quieter moments too. Sounds like you're tired post trip. Tiredness tends to bring up my negative thoughts too. I try to remember that the mean girl in my head will go away at aome point and my confidence will reappear.😊. And please don't dismiss how you're feeling as silly or unimportant. It really isn't. You're mental health deaerves as much care as your physical health. Can be tough sometimes though. Having watched the haul video yesterday, all your students sounded really happy. Hoping you decide to do more so i get a chance to come along!

Yes! All of this. I’ve actually quit a job post holiday due to nothing but pure overwhelm. It’s a thing. I thought I would have some Fomo watching the France videos, but it was the opposite- I know that I would have been in a state of pure overwhelm from all of the anticipation, the travel days, the different beds, the time change, everything! I loved taking your adventure in through your eyes… without getting myself in a full tizzy 😂

Lindsay, when I started learning to paint 8 years ago, I watched a LOT of KZreadrs and you were the one I clicked with. I've bought most of your teachable classes and love your SatChats! Little did I realize back then that I would become a professional watercolor artist. I teach monthly classes, sell my work in several locations and have more home portrait commissions than I can handle! I truly owe a lot to you and want you to realize what a wonderful, inspirational teacher you are! I'm sure your retreat was wonderful! You are so right about our health care system. Lindsay! Your feelings are never trivial or meaningless!! Try this: Take a piece of paper, number 1 to 5. After each number write: I am feeling _____ why?_____ Then try to fill in the blanks with as few words as possible… In other words no dissertations. Write the first thing that comes to mind.

The early-rise insomnia is a very common symptom of depression, and is a bit of a trademark for depressive episodes. Please do not take this as any sort of diagnosis! But also if you start to feel like it's getting out of hand, and you're still feeling low, please note - 1. *you're not alone.* Don't ever think this! I promise. 2. Please consider touching base with your healthcare team. Depression is insidious and it 100% can creep in unnoticed. You're an absolute gem, a great resource for the community, and we love you (in a not creepy stalker kind of way!). Please remember to take care of yourself!

Don't you dare beat yourself up! You took a BIG step and went to another country to teach at an art retreat! I don't think anyone expected you to be 100% on camera ready the whole day! At least I sure did not, you are a human being not a robot. The late night sit and chats were the best with everyone, including you and Jason! What do you always say.."its the first pancake so its not going to be perfect" well you have your first pancake behind you now and now you know of things to change and do better for the next one! Make a list of how to improve or things you want for the next one! Look at me I went there with basically ZERO watercolor painting experience and I learned so much! I had hoped I would learn something and if I didnt and I hated water colors well at least I had a great week away in southern France! Relax and let go and just know everything was fine and you can not change the past. Look forward and improve and make notes for the next one! I think a lot of people would be sad if you didn't do another retreat, myself included!! Chin Up Maine! Summer is a coming ☀😎 Everything is always better in the warmth of sun. Lindsey, followed you for years. Love Sat Chat and your reviews. Does not bother me that you express your internal struggles, we all have them to some degree. If talking to your audience helps you sort things out that is okay. I feel you could really benefit from some counseling which is very accessible regardless of where you live, the right counsel can help you sort out some of your thought processes. You are definitely enough! Do some research, take some time and find someone you feel comfortable talking to. Instead of just talking to us a good mental health professional can talk to you in real time and give you tools to help. You are worth it.

Lindsay, I am one of those people that over-think, over-analyze, over-worry about everything I do. I’m always thinking of what I should have done and beating myself up. I can’t draw stick people, I am a terrible painter, I’m very slow at drawing and painting, so I’m still working on filling my sketchbook. But, you know what - I had a great time!! You are extremely friendly, you cheered us all on, I could see you turn on “teacher-mode” and it’s obvious you are passionate about what you do. It was a whirlwind week!! I don’t travel much so it takes me a couple of days to acclimate, especially after all the travel-time, and yes, the anticpation of the trip had all my nerves going crazy!! I think your reaction now is fairly normal, and I’m having some of the same feelings. And as for the review comments - I would hope they were constructive criticisms and not petty complaints. Either way, just move on! All you have to do is look at how everyone is still chatting on the Whatsapp group to see we had a great time!

Happy Saturday everyone. I love all the pics and videos of France! What a wonderful experience for all. I rely heavily on your reviews. My no buy year lasted 3 months 😂😂😂. I know me I love supplies but I don’t want to go crazy so I like to choose wisely and you help immensely on that. Your reviews are very informative. For example I just saw the Derwent watercolor palettes but they look soooooo similar to Inktense. You are down to earth and real you are not click baity and I love you for that.

One more thing, you have to look beyond the negative comments and try to see where is this person in life that they feel they have to say something like that? They must see that the rest of us get joy from you. It’s hard but don’t take it personal.

I think we live in the same kind of rural small town areas. I have to drive 60 miles round trip to a Micheals or Joanns. The doctor thing is terrible here too. I went to the same GP for about 25 years. Since he retired, I have had to meet the new "permanent" practitioner 8 times in the last 10 years. We have the same issue with veterinarians. Rocky's Dr retired last summer and it took almost a year and an emergency to get him into a new practice. I'm going straight to your French haul video. Sounds like you had a great group and a great time!

Lindsay you are a wonderful teacher, and I’m sure your participants have plenty of wonderful memories from your week away. I believe what you’re feeling at the moment is from being in a high energy situation for a week, then coming back down to reality. I felt the same when returning from the Arctic last August. It also sounds as though you’re experiencing a little ‘imposter syndrome’ - apparently most people do at some point, it’s a natural phenomenon. Just remember all the positive feedback and love that’s being sent to you from all over the world. Lindsay you are worthy! ❤ xXx

One thing to remember, Lindsay, is that you probably felt like you had to be "on" the entire time while you were there, which can be exhausting in itself....let alone the affects of jet lag AND how your "life" there was busier (for that week) than your normal life would have been here. A suggestion for your next retreat would be to schedule an hour every day or every other day for you to rest and regenerate....maybe the hour before dinner. It could just be alone time for you while the attendees work on whatever they like OR it could be alone time for everyone. Just something to keep in mind.

Humm. On the permanent no-buy. I can see this on standard everyday supplies like white paint. But I think I would still get stuff that was truly new such as a new type of multi media paper, or I would still buy supplies that are outside of normal that stretches and expands my study and understanding such as your bottles of dry paint pigments that you got in France for mixing your own paints. And using the Oxcall and gargums. And getting the french blue.... from france. And hand made pastel sticks. These things are truly special. I hope you continue to feel better. HUGS

If the critical review is something you can fix for next time then that’s a good thing. If it’s just a complainer who will never be happy just let it go. We all love you just the way you are❤ How frustrating to have private insurance and not be able to get timely care. Rural medicine in America is very lacking in so many states and communities. Medical students actually can get their tuition paid if they agree to work say 5 years in some rural area, but then as soon as the debt is paid they leave. Ive had Kaiser HMO for over 50 years and I am so grateful. I can go to any specialist my primary refers me to without authorization, the same for MRI, CT, colonoscopy, ETC. I can schedule my appointments online, for video, telephone or in person doctor visits or call early AM for an urgent care, same day visit if I am sick or injured. Best of luck, just be persistent.

You are so giving Rosie the Riveter today and i love it! There's an adage in 12 step programs, "Progress Not Perfection". The fact that you completed such a task of traveling to another country to host an art class is a dream. And you did it! I plan events and, as a hypersensitive person, I know how it is to get "feedback" that you didn't expect. What helps me is to separate this as feedback for the program and not you as an individual; look at it as optional data that you can use to incorporate into your next retreat, knowing you can't always please everyone but there might be a helpful nugget to help you improve your program. And YES, do the upstate NY retreat and move past your doubts about your "presence" as a teacher. Are you kidding me? People would LOVE to hang out with you and paint! :). NIce relatable chat today. If you go to Spain next, I'd consider.

I have felt stressed this Spring because we haven't been very warm. We have had a lot of storms and rain. I get it about getting a call in to a doctors office. I have to schedule 9 months to a year out to see my dentist. It is the same to see my doctor. The dental office said it is because of staffing shortages. It is the new normal after Covid and us older folks retiring all at the same time. I rethink things after big events as well. We are all hard on ourselves. Lindsay you are absolutely wonderful!! I'm guessing you're just going through creative fatigue. Look at all the things you've done the last few months: plain April, color pencil class, and week long teaching class in France!! All great wonderful things, but when you're the one thinking up all the creative things to do and teach others, it's mentally taxing plus you've only been home from France for a short bit so it might take a few more weeks to get your routines and rhythms back in sync. I love the idea of a art retreat in the states with you...I might actually be able to afford to attend! I'm ever so pleased with all the hard work you put into everything you do and share! Don't put so much pressure on yourself, we are all happy that you share and teach at all...that's an amazing thing for us. The first time I bumped into your channel in 2021; I thought oh no, she's too good, I could never paint like that!! The more I watched the more I realized how fantastic of an instructor you are and yes, I can paint like that, no not as experienced as you; but I'm not afraid to try or mess up and I enjoy the mistakes I make along the way because of all your encouragement and teaching style! You will never know just how much we all appreciate and cherish you for all you have helped us learn and enjoy our art journey!! Because most of us don't have time to paint much less time to stop and say thank you enough. The biggest "thank yous" usually go without being said, which is sad, but in our busy lives, we forget the impact a thank you has. I hope this long winded thank you remains you of how loved and appreciated you are!! With that said take a break, a walk, a rest, we understand and will be here always! ❤❤😊

Don't doubt yourself. Your trip/class was excellent and well received from the comments I've seen. To benefit from your after trip nerves, use one of your small sketch books and write down these random thoughts for improvement. The overhead projector, the microphone and whatever other things are bugging you. Include whatever your pupils might have suggested. And make a section on what you thought went well and you would absolutely to again. After you have 'dumped' for a few days, put the notebook aside for the summer. Don't forget to make notes to yourself about the facility, pros and cons. These things become less sharp as time goes by. When you start to think about whether you want to do something similar again, drag it out and use these thoughts for planning. Have Jason contribute random thoughts and add to your book too. And remember, things get easier with practice! PS. I did work related training events either solo or with a small team, over the course of a long career. Do spend a bit of time on the feedback you received. Hopefully, none of it is personal, but it too can help you improve 'the next one.' We used to always pack the evaluation sheets in our hand luggage and try to read them collectively on the return flight because once we landed at our home location we would not be together again for some time. Evaluation AND self-reflection are valuable tools.

The medical and insurance system is ridiculous. We have acute care centers on every block, but those on Medicaid have to go to the ER for a sliver, so if you are fully insured you don't get seen unless you are having a stroke or heart attack. When my husband was having chemotherapy, we had to paige the oncologist, and she met us at the ER door, or he would sit for hours and hours. He would pass out because he needed a transfusion in the waiting room. @Lindsay, you are awesome. When you do a couple of retreats, you'll have a checklist and pack as you go, and some things will never be unpacked. I'm doing the pear in the colored pencil class right now. I love how you are using various tools. I have all these silicone tools but had no idea how to use them. Your step by step instruction are perfect. Thank you for being you❤

Glad to have you back for Sat Chat. You feel what you feel and you needn’t apologize. You were go,go,go to prepare for your trip and then the excitement of the trip. After all of that there is always a form of letdown. That can manifest in the I’m still wired and don’t know what to do with myself mode, or the I’m done and exhausted totally vegging mode. Give yourself some slack, you’ll be where you want to be in your headspace soon. I live in a town that’s called itself the city of medicine, and getting a doctor’s appointment can be as frustrating here as in rural Maine. I think it may be even worse since Covid because so many in the medical field burned out and quit.

Lindsay you would win the world championship for self doubt 😂 I don’t know anyone else who can get almost all 10/10s and a company asking to repeat your cooperation and STILL say “should I even teach in person anymore?”. If you’re still in doubt: Yes, yes you should. Please get some sleep or do your affirmations or see a therapist 😂 You’re a wonderful teacher who illuminates every subject you treat. So please keep sharing your light 🤍

I learned how to watercolor from you. I learned a lot from the classes you used to do with your cousin the live ones. I wish you did more live watercolors real time.

I am in a similar state of mind, Lindsay, with that kind of let down, and mine is after having a house full of family for more than 2 weeks with my brother-in-law (who was 86) passing after a long, agonizing downturn. His kids all live out of town and since I'm not very mobile, people tended to gather here, and my niece and her family stayed here for a week of that time. While here the three of them (niece, hubs and their 42 year old daughter) did so much stuff to help us in their "down time". And then this week, on Memorial Day, my sister Kim(berley) and her daughter-in-law Kimberly came early in the day and housecleaned my bedroom, which was so wonderful. Then the rest of their family came - my nephew and his six kids joined Mama here, as well as my brother-in-law and their daughter and granddaughter, and we had an indoor picnic because it was stinkin' cold outside. :) Anyway, with all that going on, and the feelings having someone clean my house engendered, both good and bad, I've felt like my motor's been running at high speed for the past three weeks. Phone calls galore keeping up with how my b-i-l was doing towards the end, and when this kids were coming in from where and where they'd be staying, and making sure we had lots of drinks and ice and snacks on hand, and then the week of the funeral was basically chaotic and lots of people wanted time to visit with them so we had a week of "picnics" and then the funeral day itself, and they left early the next day, and then it was a week of making lots of phone calls (doctors, car stuff, etc.) and waiting for call backs - so I GET IT!! And I've got 20 years on you, Lindsay, and I'm disabled, nearly completely bed bound. So I get into Deep Thoughts about quality of life and am I being too much of a burden on my family and should I be in a nursing home and, and, and...and I am not a worrier. In fact, my husband, who IS a worrier, always accuses me of being kind of devil-may-care about stuff, not even concerned about real life stuff. LIFE! I also get the doctor thing. Our son was one of those kids who did his best to leave this life early, with serious accidents and then even more serious illnesses, and just generally being a scary kid to raise. When he was 20 months old he had pneumococcal meningitis (bacterial) and nearly died a few times in that illness alone. As he'd been on a couple of smaller illnesses/accidents, our much-loved pediatrician was out of service during the entire meningitis ordeal, having himself a heart attack. And the pediatrician who took care of J through all of that was wonderful, and had even gotten to know our family, right down to my sisters, during the whole deal, so we decided to switch pediatricians, feeling he knew J more than the original one did. I called and asked if he was accepting new patients and they told me (and this was 45 years ago!!) "Only if you're having a new baby." Nope. Not even to get Dr Kaiser. But, they offered, he was getting a new partner, who was just getting started and at least we'd be in the same practice. And we ended up loving him. So just get through these times. They always pass, and hopefully it will be a time when you learn more about how you think and feel about stuff, or about life in general, like we all having the same basic insecurities, when it comes down to it. They just manifest differently at varying times in our lives. HUGS!

Anxiety LIES. And you don’t have to listen to it! I appreciate your vulnerability and honesty. And I do wish you weren’t so hard on yourself. If someone else belittled you the way you do yourself, you’d set boundaries and refuse to be treated that way. You don’t need to take it from your inner monologue either.

Imposter syndrome, success can cause it, you suddenly make true some projects that you considered out of your league, and you start doubting yourself. There is no need for that. By the faces of people in your group I can tell they had awesome time. For many of us beginners you are kinda a star, and being able to spend a week with you and get so much of your time in life, it is, I can only guess, awesome experience. I hope you will continue to making those type of trips/vacations, and I hope I’ll have means to take part in future.

Ok last one: I believe that you should have a retreat in Maine! Go local for you and give your subscribers and followers a chance to check out your neck of the woods and I bet you know great areas and venues too! You might even get people from other countries that want to see America!

Don’t put yourself down. I know that is easier for me to type than for you to do it. But realize that your videos bring a lot of joy to people and Sat chats like this only make you human and not some fake “influencer”. France was far and honestly beyond my budget. But I would love to go to an art retreat with you in upstate New York this fall! I live in So Cal and would love to see the autumn leaves with someone who knows the seasons, and New England nature (upstate New York is like New England, no?) As to the one not so positive review of the retreat I give you my mother’s best advice - It’s them. not you, that has the problem. Anyone who would expect you to “on” and perky for a whole week straight has unreasonable expectations. I go to 3 day conferences and just have to engage in small talk at meals and evening receptions and I am exhausted and my throat aches. I cannot imagine having to be a charming host for a week lol.

Lindsay, I'm going to give you a little "reality talk".≥..ready?......First, a person's biological clock can only move about 10 minutes a day. So for example, when we have to move our clocks ahead or back an hour, it takes about 6 days for us to internalize the change. Now obviously, we all can get up and go to work and do all the "stuff" that must be done. But internally things like digestion, brain functioning, cognitive skills, are not on their peak. You just changed 6 time zones, therefore, you won't TOTALLY internalize the change for over a month. In addition, the change returning from Europe to the U.S. is actually a more difficult change for most people. Second, (are you ready for another), I have taught for 35 years. You will not be everyone's "cup of tea", as my mother would say. If you average all the feed back scores and be rated at least average, you are considered a good teacher. Some people ALWAYS put some negative comments on reviews of instructors. They believe that they are helping the instructor become 'better'. They have never been in a situation where they have been evaluated and would probably be crushed by what they heard about themselves. Think for a moment and imagine that you had to evaluate each of the students on the trip. Would you honestly give them all "10 out of 10". Lastly, be kind to yourself. The whole trip is too close to really evaluate. Put the whole thing aside. Do all your wonderful summer plans. Enjoy your time with family and friends!! All the best, from a person that has had to scrub graffiti about myself off desks more times than I can count!

I love listening to you and I am sure many of us can relate to a lot of the things things you are saying and feeling. I think that, in a similar way to feeling a bit anxious BEFORE we embark on a journey (and bearing in mind the trip you planned was much more involved than, say, a family holiday 😬) it is just a 'thing'...that we can experience 'after-doubts'...and I 'm sure I'd be feeling the same. I would imagine a more accurate judgement might be how you felt that everything was going at the TIME, whilst you were there, which seems to have been a valuable shared experience 🤗

I am sure you once said!...Focus on the positivity rather than on the small amount of negativity that might be sent your way? Everything you look at in life, someone will always tag a bit of negativity! The vibes from your video came across as a positive! Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the journey with you! ❤❤❤

Listen you’re terrific and I love watching your videos. I always trust your judgement when it comes to products. As for getting medical appointments this is happening everywhere. The business is now about profit, keeping us healthy is an afterthought for these major healthcare companies. As for feeling a little off it could be about just getting back from France. Loved the haul video. Not to get personal, it could be the next phase all we women face “perimenopause”! My daughter always reminds me of that period of my life. The family’s way of handling it…stay out of her way!🤣

You’re so hard on yourself. Watching this after the show and tell. Everyone I saw had a great time, they all look so happy. Saying that, I know what it’s like with a brain that won’t switch off. Probably no consolation but it’s similar in UK trying to find a dentist or get a doctor’s appointment.
