Not to be negative but da va vinci isnt really changing at all. I was a bit dissapointed about that. Im not missing power with a Dell 17 xps and an external 3090 - even the internal 3060 does amazing

That's quite nice about the notebooks. But I personally don't want to work on a notebook, but on a real PC with lots of hard disk space and 3 screens. I wonder what will come here? What I also wonder: ARM also seems to make sense for desktop (see Apple), I don't think Intel and AMD will just leave the field like that. Let's see what time brings in the next few years

These new snapdragon powered devices already seem overpriced to me. 1500 bucks for something with the equivalent of a 780m gpu and a 512gb ssd which is probably not upgradable. I’ll bet the ram is soldered as well. Microsoft needs to learn they are trying to compete with Apple. They need a competing product that is cheaper than a MacBook. They can’t just make a MacBook clone that runs windows. Macs will beat it them every time.

Nvidia leads AI stuff by a mile so I would not look at other solutions unless proven worthy. Microsoft does have a questionable history in this kind of business where laptops don't meet performance expectations. I would wait for similar AI NPUs from Intel and AMD.

Will be interesting to see how Intel will respond. This missed deals with Apple and Microsoft will cost them a great deal of money. They even had a short press release on the same day as the surface press day claiming to be much faster than the new arm SOCs. Anyway, the race is on again!

I like the idea of taking your editing rig on the road but having more power when you get home/office. I assume that is using external GPUs. How well do they work for capture and editing? Considering most enclosures cost $250-$300, you probably need to put in a decent graphics card to justify the combined price.

There’s no way you can playback 4K uncompressed or 4:4:4:4 footage on this social media computer. You can’t do it with a 4090 with 120 of ram, even less with these toys…..let’s be realistic, because Resolve, honoring the old Da Vinci, is all about top quality, the best of the best, and you wanna convince me you can get top notch results with snapdragon? Theoretically, you can run Maya with 4 gb of ram, as advertised as minimum requirements, but in reality is impossible…..I believe Black Magic is giving up the fight to conquer the prosumer market and strategically is aiming to social media users, because the new features in the last 2 years are more aimed to that segment than to professional users. Typos by iOS……
