    I ride a 2023 Triumph Tiger 850 Sport (similar) with a smaller TFT screen. I also find it difficult to find the Odometer and mileage. It seems IMO to be a case of technology’s use for the sake of it and to use up a budget. The answer lies in Triumph’s decision to change the TFT on the 2024 model to a more user friendly style.

    I picked up a 900 GT Pro about a month ago . I am going to swap out the exhaust for an Arrow slip-on b/c I hate the high pitched whistle of the stock exhaust. I have also ordered a custom seat from Corbin b/c the longest I can sit on the stock seat before I need to take a break is 1 1/2 hours.

  • @thetaleof2wheels.947
    @thetaleof2wheels.9473 ай бұрын

    @marklammers6117 I don't find the exhaust whistles at all, it's got more of a bark. The 800 Tiger used to have a distinct whistle. What you will be hearing is the induction noise, as the airbox is at the rear of the tank in-between your legs. If you take the seats off you can see the inspection panel for the air filter. I've found the seat very comfortable and can do about 3 hours before getting any numbness, using the heated function helps blood flow and relieves numbness, admittedly not useful in hot climates. The Tiger 900 so far is my favourite bike I've owned, quick and nimble without too much weight.

    @wraggy_moto It's still nice though to think people actually like and sub, even if the content isn't top grade. It is a bit annoying that people expect polished content on an amateur channel though, especially when top creators spend thousands on video and audio equipment. Not all of us are blessed enough to go that far. At least I can be honest about what I say, and hopefully give some ideas for good ride outs, and gear reviews going forward. After all I can be critical about gear I've paid for myself👍. Thanks for watching and commenting though.

    @lawrencerichards6249 I've done this pass a few times both ways, but this was the first time I actually filmed it. Only Scotland or Wales can beat the Lake District for stunning scenery. Depending on which way I go it's 1.5-2 hours to the Lakes, although I do tend to make it an all day ride. I'm based in County Durham/Teeside border. I don't have any ride vids left until I get back out on the bike, going to be doing some short ones on what I think of a few bits I've added to the bike. Hopefully the weather keeps improving and I get some ride time in, the winter sucks big time.

You've got to take into account it's weight at 245 kgs fully fuelled as well, not light but very few touring 4 cylinder bikes are. The CBF was great on the motorway, with plenty of power for overtaking and plenty in reserve, also sounds great with aftermarket exhaust. A very underrated bike. The only problem you would have is the power over a CB500X would be addictive. I went from a Kawasaki ER6-F to the CBF1000, and the CBF was just so much better.

  • @thetaleof2wheels.947
    @thetaleof2wheels.9475 ай бұрын

    @bobfitzy6236 The Tiger has quicker acceleration, as the triple spins up quicker. I think the top speed is about the same, but would have to check the official figures for that. The Tiger is a much better handling bike, more nimble and less top heavy, and in my own personal opinion a more fun bike to ride. The 1200 Scrambler I had did sound better though as I had the SP Engineering slash cut exhaust, and it did have better low down torque. If I had the choice again, I would take the Tiger.

  • @thetaleof2wheels.947
    @thetaleof2wheels.9476 ай бұрын

    @juanmedrano9838 The 1200 Scrambler was an absolute blast to ride and did look fantastic. The reason I changed was given in the "change of scenery" video. Basically I'm a shorty and the 1200 XE is tall ( even lowered) and is top heavy with a full tank of fuel, made more noticeable on off camber roads. Also the Tiger is more suitable for touring and overall the better road bike. Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved the XE, but I'm much happier with the Tiger. I've already done more miles on the Tiger over a shorter period as well, which basically says it all really. You will always ride a bike more if you are more confident and comfortable on it.

    @ed.t.hansen6499 I've got the full 3 piece luggage from Triumph, which is basically Givi Trekker with different mounting spacings for Triumph's. The top box in this video is actually one of the panniers, the normal top box is 52 litres and can take 2 full face helmets. You can see the normal top box in the after Scotland video. I've had no clearance issues with the full luggage fitted, as the mounts are spaced to take into account the size of the boxes.

Also it's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ( AONB), and so is protected. Hardknott pass has the remains of an old Roman fort on it, which can be seen on Google maps. It can be very harsh in the winter ( for the UK), so the road suffers from snow, frost and black ice. Looks stunning when covered in snow.

    You have to do salter fell. 7 mile track over moors. Plenty vids. I did it on monkey. Slaidburn to wray. Legal for motorbikes but not cars

    @zedcharlie I'll have to look into that one, although I'm not sure what the Mrs would say about me taking her bike off road, as it's her pride and joy. I've also got Rudland Rigg not far from me, that's an old drovers road over the Moors.

    @@thetaleof2wheels.947 I.m not an off reader. Was OK on monkey but there is one tricky bit. Small wheels a little difficult on that section. That triumph would be OK if you can turn rear abs off. Pick a dry spell. If you think it's worth the trip after seeing vid. Not technical at all. Just pebbly size stones . Most of it easy.

    @@zedcharlie I'll have a look for the videos of it. I'm in the North East near Durham city, so even the Lakes is a good day ride out. I used to have a Monkey 125, even rode that over to the Lakes and over Hardknott and Wrynose passes. 240 miles in one day, and bloody great fun. Although doing that distance you certainly miss a bike with a bit of power. I do have a video of taking the monkey over the passes.

    Random question for ya, I’ve had a gt pro for couple of months now. Changed the tourance tyres to Avon spirits. Still feel that it slightly squirms under me a lot of the time. I hear guys saying how sure footed they feel so I’m wondering if it’s just me?

  • @thetaleof2wheels.947

    @40mosher What bike did you have before the Tiger? Could be just needing to get used to the narrower front profile tyre. I find mine very sure footed, but I've noticed the front tyre has tiny chicken strips as compared to the rear. Also depending on your riding style you may benefit from getting the front suspension set for your rider sag, and then dial in the settings to suit.

    @@40mosher CB1000r has a wider rear and front tyre. Also 17" at both ends as opposed to the 19/17" combo of the Tiger. Took me a while to get used to the tyre sizes on the Scrambler 1200 I had, when I changed from the CBF1000F. Also could be a change of riding position as well, with the Tiger being more upright. What age and mileage is your Tiger? Could always try a test ride of a dealers demo Tiger to compare to yours, just for peace of mind.

    @@thetaleof2wheels.947 it’s a 2020. Had 1900m on it when I collected. Deffo feels like it will “fall” into turns faster if you know what I mean. And that initial twitch unnerves me. Hard to break habits.

    @thetaleof2wheels.9478 ай бұрын

    @40mosher Wow, 1900m on a 20 plate, I've put nearly 3000m on mine already. They do tip in well, without much input into the bars. But they do hold a line well. What rear suspension settings do you have? I tend to run preload as by the settings, so if I'm solo it's solo rider. The damping I have set a few up from normal, so closer to sport. I only use comfort when doing longer straight roads or motorways. It does sound like you just need to get used to the different riding style of the bike, and maybe just have a try with different suspension settings for the rear shock. If you do really think something may be off with the bike, get it into a dealer or specialist for a health check, as it's always best to be safe than sorry.

    I agree the longer front fenda extender works well. On the rear a hugger is worthwhile too. Several available via Pyramid Plastics including colour matched versions. I went for the matt Puig one myself. Thanks for the vid.

    @tiger8853 The front fenda Extenda Extra is a must for the road, it does work brilliantly. I'm not keen on rear huggers, had one on the CBF1000F and found the rear shock still got pebble dashed, this rear shock shield works a hell of a lot better at protecting the shock. Also makes it easier to get in and clean the swingarm. Glad you enjoyed the vid, although I will admit the sound isn't great as I recorded it on my phone.

  • @thetaleof2wheels.947
    @thetaleof2wheels.9478 ай бұрын

    @briandocherty7242 The front fender extender is from Pyramid Plastics, it's the fender extender extra. Not cheap but gives excellent coverage, and doesn't require fixing to the front mudguard. It's held on by two shaped metal bars that fix onto the extender and the bottom two brake caliper mounts. Road crap only just makes it above the factory plastic sump guard, and I mean only just, if I had the aluminium sump guard on it wouldn't make it above that. I'll be doing some reviews on what I've fitted to the bike, and giving my thoughts on them. I'm doing video releases every two weeks, to keep things going over winter. So keep an eye out for them.

    So why hasnt Triumph sorted this heat problem out? Could it be because most of their buyers dont ride them, you see very few on the road, style over substance, i can ride my BMW GS all day and no prob with heat, zero ! Same for most Jap bikes, yet Triumph put a bike on the market with a known issue and then expect you to pay to fix it, so what else is wrong in the design? Also Triumph main dealers are reluctant to let people have test rides, i asked for one and they claimed they didnt have a scrambler to test, maybe because i turned up on a much, much better German designed bike 🤷🏻‍♂️ were supposed to call be back and didnt, cant help but think they crossed me off the test ride list like 'he isnt gonna buy one of these, he rode in on a BMW GS' so thats what the main dealers think! I was a cash buyer, got a KTM Duke instead, also a much, much better bike all round as is the Ducati scrambler. Is looking good on a shit bike enough! 🤷🏻‍♂️ a huge number of bikers think so, i just wish Triumph would make more of an effort to sort out their design flaws because their build quality is good, just fix the design
