Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE. Exhaust heat problem solved.
A solution to the excessive heat produced by the catalytic converter in the headers.
Shapeways legsaver max V1.2.a.
This has solved the leg burning heat produced by the catalytic converter, by making sure your leg cannot touch the steel mesh in the factory heat shield. It also provides an extra shield from the cat shield itself, with a much better air gap underneath allowing better airflow.
You can hear the exhaust pinging as it cools down, as this was after a good run.

Yo arreglé el problema con unos simples tornillos más largos y unas arandelas que usé para separar las protecciones entre sí y del tubo de escape, de tal manera que el aire circulara entre todas las partes. Solo es cuestión de un par de dólares y veinte minutos...😃
I got one about 6 months ago and can confirm it has solved the heat issues for me too. Great product

Such a simple thing to make the bike totally enjoyable. Looking at the 900 Scrambler the centre heat shield doesn't go behind the cat heat shield, which is what I think makes the heat worse on the 1200. At least the leg saver works 😁.

tried to find legsaver on shapeways page, no joy, do you have a link?
I had a decat header on the bench before picking up the bike last spring. Dealer reflashed for me. Have since put a TEC Flank 2-1 exhaust, their baffle, Fuel Booster plug, DNA air filter and pulled the snorkel, then self reflashed. No heat issue, improved performance, 10# lighter and sounds orgasmic.

Decat has probably done away with the heat. I don't really want to Decat as I've got SP Engineering slash cuts, albeit with baffles fitted now. I've fitted the booster plug as well. I'm not too keen on the TEC flank pipe, in my opinion the single exhaust doesn't really look right on the Scrambler. Also I think it finishes too short, but it is personal choice and that's what makes biking great.

Yes, it sure did. Love your pipes, btw. They were the way I wanted to go but as mentioned I’d already decatted. Initially didn’t care for the look of the TEC Flank but after hearing it I was sold. And man has the look grown on me. Fully exposes that beautiful shock and ends right at the end point of the # plate. Awesome machines, my 4th Triumph. Have a ball and stay safe. I’m heading to Moab in a bit.

@@orneryhombre9078 The SP Engineering slash cuts were on the bike when I bought it......bloody love them as well, although I did fit the baffles to cut a little bit of the ear splitting down. I haven't heard the TEC flank in person, and videos never do them justice. This is my first Triumph, and I'm keeping it for the foreseeable future. I've had a Kawasaki ER6-F, Honda CBF1000F and then the Triumph, I've also got a Honda Monkey 125cc ( great fun). The Mrs has a Honda Rebel 500 ( soon to be changed). So there will be another bike featured soon 😉. Ride safe and let the big twin roar 😂.
Triumph engineers: “Duh!”
Mate I’ve been considering this. How long did it take to arrive?

I ordered on 19th July at 21.32hrs and it arrived on 26th July. That was with the standard processing and delivery options. It certainly is worth the money as I was considering getting a decat pipe, but running the SP Engineering slash cuts it would be Mega loud.

@@Moto.Twisties No problem. Just be aware you will need an M5x30mm stainless steel button head Allen bolt, with a head no bigger than 10mm diameter. You will also need 2 M5x10mm stainless steel flat washers. The original bolt isn't long enough and the head is too big to fit the leg saver.

@@bjornjakob713 Hi The leg saver is made by a company called Shapeways, they have a Europe factory in the Netherlands. Just type Triumph Scrambler 1200 leg saver into Google and it should come up. Otherwise just type Shapeways into Google, then use their search function for leg saver. Mine is the "scrambler MAX plus leg saver V1.2 in Black Natural Versatile Plastic".
What a wonderful bike, but shoudn't Triumph itself fix such problems? It's a shame.

They have on 2021 onwards models, as they moved the catalytic converter into the silencers at the rear.

@@jcvgrt I haven't tried the 23 model, but everyone who bought one on the forums said the heat was significantly reduced. Could always try some Motorsport heat reducing tape on the rear of the heat shields.

@marcuswaser5967 I bought mine from www.shapeways.com, you need to look for "Scrambler XC/XE Leg Saver MAX Plus V2". It's a 3D printed item.
