Testing a few modifications to the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE.

Testing out a few modifications to make the Scrambler a better bike for me.
TEC bike parts :- Rear lowering springs. Booster plug.
SP Engineering :- Baffles for the slash cuts.
Shapeways :- Leg saver Max V1.2.a.
I have lowered the front end by raising the forks through the yokes by 15mm.

I got one of those Shapeways shields too, what a difference. Triumph should recommend them

Totally agree with you on that one. The new 1200 has had the cat moved to the rear silencers, so I would think there won't be as much need for the leg saver on the new models.

Agreed, but I didnt get the longest version and regret it, cos I think it kind of directs the heat to my knee now 😅

Looks like it solves the problem 👌I thought you sounded like a local lad, just spotted the road signs and recognise the road too 👍

@michaelhall3586 The leg saver worked a treat, well worth it if you don't want to decat the bike. Still local, originally grew up in Bishop Middleham. Even went to Sedgefield comp, but that was before the new building. God I feel old now 🤣🤣🤣

it’s a motorcycle, it’s get hot. nature of the beast, especially the scrambler 1200. i have the XC. i knew it was hot because of the high pipes. you either don’t buy the scrambler, and buy any other bike, or you don’t ride at all. and that my friend is not an opinion. the scrambler 1200XC/XE are in a class of their own in my opinion. this bike doesn’t look like any other bike, and that’s saying something because there are lots of manufacturers and they all make many different models. so out of every bike they make, the scrambler is diff from all. it’s a “look at me” bike i love the look.

I know motorcycles get hot, after all you are closer to the engine and there's no bulkhead like a car. The heat from the exhaust actually burnt and blistered my leg, something which no other bike has ever done, including my wife's Scrambler 900. Yet something as simple as the Shapeways leg saver stopped it. I figured out it was actually the mesh in the heat shield that burnt my leg, which the leg saver covered over, as well as standing off from the heat shield. I've moved on from the 1200 XE now, so at least it's something I don't have to deal with anymore.

Thanks for the video. What year is your Scrambler? I have the 2022 1200XC and was told I can't fit a booster plug to new models (it will cause an error light).

Mine is a 2020 registered bike, catalytic converter in the headers just in front of your right leg. I fitted the booster plug to richen the fuel mixture, and make it a bit easier pulling away. Partly due to running SP Engineering slash cuts, as they are basically straight through end cans. As far as I'm aware not every bike will need a booster plug. Your model with have the catalytic converter in the silencers at the rear.

Pipes sounds awesome mate. How much does it cost and where can I purchase it?

The pipes were already on the bike when I bought it. They are SP Engineering slash cuts (www.spengineering.co.uk) and they cost £350. They are awesome and rather loud, but you can get baffles for them. They don't always have stock as they sell out fast.

Cut out catalysator. There is slso homologized exhaust without cat. It will solve all your problems.
