Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro test ride.

Test riding the Tiger 900 Rally Pro.
Is the Tiger better than my Scrambler 1200 XE?
I was curious so took one out for a test ride to find out for myself.

Had one for a few months. Love it. Just had to adjust the chain after 1300 mile as it felt a bit sloppy on the drive especially when using the quick shifter, feels lovely again now. Enough power and weight for me. Off up to Scotland in Oct if weather is ok. Wild camping and touring.

The Rally Pro was just a bit too tall for me, so went for the GT Pro instead. Got over 2500 miles on the GT Pro now, which includes 800 miles in 3 days up to Scotland. Good luck going to Scotland in Oct, although to be fair there's probably more chance of it being dry, if not just a bit colder.

I have just p.ex my 800xca for a new 900 rally pro and pick it up on the 1st August. The 800xca was amazing and done loads of miles touring on it so looking forward to the updated 900 😂😂

The 900 is a great bike, but the rally pro was just a tad too tall for me. The GT Pro was a much better choice for my needs. The only down side of the 900 as compared to the 800 is the vibrations from the T-plane crank, but coming from a Scrambler 1200 they don't bother me. It's only really noticeable after 75/80 mph. Enjoy your bike, I'm certainly enjoying mine and have already done over 1100 miles in a month.

@Scramblerout3 I've watched your videos, first one was very brave with a new bike 🤣. I would think the Rally Pro would be a good move, but for me it's just too tall, and it would need lowering. The Tiger is a better bike for touring for sure, so much more comfortable than the Scrambler. A much better all round package. It's a tough one that's for sure.

I’ve just brought one yesterday from triumph York, it’s an incredible bike, I had a 800 XCa that I thought was a great bike but this is SO much better, the engine is so different and doesn’t have that annoying whistle. Looks beautiful.

I liked the Tiger 800, but was always put off by the welded rear subframe and footpegs. The 900 is everything the 800 should have been, that's why I've bought the 900 GT Pro.

How is the performance compared to the 1200 scrambler?

@bobfitzy6236 The Tiger has quicker acceleration, as the triple spins up quicker. I think the top speed is about the same, but would have to check the official figures for that. The Tiger is a much better handling bike, more nimble and less top heavy, and in my own personal opinion a more fun bike to ride. The 1200 Scrambler I had did sound better though as I had the SP Engineering slash cut exhaust, and it did have better low down torque. If I had the choice again, I would take the Tiger.

is the vibration as bad as everyone says?

I don't find it that bad, but there is a vibration there. I would say it's a little bit less than a parallel twin, but this is due to the T-plane crank. I think most people who complain are from the old triple engine, which was known for its smooth running. I've come from a Scrambler 1200 XE, so I'm used to some vibrations. Best bet is to test ride one yourself, as everyone has different tolerances to vibrations.
