Hi, my name is Liz a non professional home gardener with a sense of humor, bad memory (sometimes I forget what I plant) and I LOVE Jesus Christ! My videos are all about small space gardening, gardening on a budget and making the most of what I have in order to be happy. Not only am I obsessed with Gods beautiful creation but I crave color too. Therefore I have incorporated yard sale finds, thrift store treasures and hand painted doors in my garden making it my little happy place located in California Zone 9b
I hope my videos bring you joy, inspiration and most of all. . . . make you SMILE : )

Liz your gardens are gorgeous. I just love all the color. I have always loved color in the gardens with not only plants but decor just as you do. Love everything in your gardens. Love and blessings ❤️❤️❤️
Awww thank you so much Jean! I appreciate your kind words and encouragement! Live and blessings to you as well. 👍❤️🌸💜Liz
You're doing what I need to do and have been putting off because of the heat.😊
Hi Cynthia… let’s have faith that this heat wave will end soon so we can get back in the garden. And if it makes you feel better, I took that big vine down before the high temps hit my area. 😆😆😆Liz
Beautiful
Thank you so much Patricia! 👍🌸❤️Liz
I can’t believe you took that jasmine down by yourself! Good job! You make everything seem so doable. Your corner is looking beautiful. I vote for lavender for the chair. Looking forward to seeing what you decide 🌺🌼🌸
Thank you, Ginger. I appreciate your compliment and encouragement. What you witnessed is a stubborn taurus in me! Hahaha you are the second person to vote for lavender. Thank you for taking the time to comment.💜💜💜Liz
Hi Liz, my garden is a disaster due to hurricane Beryl so I will also be chopping back every thing and starting fresh. It's a great opportunity to reinvent the garden. Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh my goodness Marvette I am so sorry to hear that. But you are right it’s a great opportunity to do an intervention and create something new. God always has the perfect plan and timing. I hope when the time comes, you’re able to enjoy and embrace the process. Thanks for stopping by. 👍❤️🌸Liz

Great clean up Liz, your gardens look fresh and clean and lovely as always. I've been doing a lot of pruning here as well it's been rather hot in the high Mohave desert 110 -112 so cutting my plants gives them a little break from stressing the heat. Have a blessed day.
Hey there Kelly oh wow it sounds like you’re getting the heat as well. This is the first time I’ve ever pruned back plants to relieve them of the stress. It’s a great idea and you telling me that you do the same just confirms it. Our temperatures were reaching 113. And it’s not over. hope you’re able to enjoy your garden too. Maybe in the early morning or late evening. Thank you for stopping by.🌸❤️👍😇Liz
Hi Liz, great work 💪you inspired me to get some things done in my garden too. It was 113 here today. I saw that you live in Oakdale from the weather app you showed. I live in the Fresno/Clovis area. We are only 2 hours apart. Have a blessed day!
Oh wow, I had no idea. We lived so close to each other. Yes I live in Oakdale. Crazy weather. We’re having the hottest it’s ever been. Glad my stubbornness could inspire you! Haha 🌸💜👍Liz
They are beautiful Liz and wonderful tour 💓
Thanks Jasmine! 🌸💜🌸💜🌸Liz
Liz, It was in the upper 90s today and I was at the nursery looking for Purple Bicopia and they didn't have it. I of course ended up with another plant. I was also outside watering until around 8 Because it was a bit cooler. I know it's late so I'll stop chatting now. Enjoy tomorrow in your beautiful garden. God's Blessings bring us Joy 🙏
Oh my goodness we are so much alike. I admit I was a little disappointed with the selection they had at the nursery. Everything was so dried out and looking very tired. But my passion for gardening couldn’t keep me away even in the heat. I can’t believe you couldn’t find your Bacopa that is in season right now and everyone is selling it. Try again next week when the heat wave is over. Thanks for taking the time to visit me. I hope you have a beautiful and blessed day.🙏😇❤️👍Liz
Liz, I wish we were neighbors. I live in Riverside County. Very hot 🔥 weather this summer. It doesn't ever stop me from gardening. I love your garden. I shared it with a friend that loves doors. She closed her patio with nothing but doors.
Awww thank you for sharing my garden with your friend. I wish we were neighbors too. I would love to see your friends patio made out of doors. Wow that totally sounds like something I would do. I love it. I have a feeling it might be hotter where you live. You are so funny to say that it doesn’t stop you from gardening. I actually went to the garden center today. It was 105°. Hahaha they closed early because of the heat, but I was able to get a couple of things. I planted them at 7 o’clock tonight when it was cooler. I guess the heat can’t keep a gardener down right? Haha thank you for taking the time to visit me.👍❤️🌸
Hello New subscriber here. Is having a door in the garden a thing? I would love to add a pink or yellow door in my garden. Do the weather affects the door?
Hey there ChinaDollDr8091 welcome to my channel and thank you for your support! Is having a door in the garden a thing? Hahaha well I guess you could say it’s my thing or perhaps Ia weird obsession. It started off with one door, I found at a garage sale painted it and loved it. Now I have 17. I think it’s so much fun that you’re thinking about adding a door to your garden too. Yes I will admit the weather does affect them. After a few years, the paint starts to fade because of the sun so I try to put my doors along the fence in the shade that helps a lot. I could bring them inside over the winter, but that would be such a hassle. I always advise anyone that if they’re going to add painted decorations in their garden to try to put them under a tree and shade them from the sun that would be the biggest help of all. I hope I answered your question and I hope you have a beautiful day in your garden too. Thanks again for stopping by.❤️👍🙏Liz
@@GardenHappy okay thanks. Straight to market place I go! Enjoy your day 🥰
Yay!!! Marketplace is the best! ❤️🌸👍Liz
Liz, you in that trash can got me tickled. Your videos are always uplifting, and I wish I could hire you to come and tell me what to do to my garden it needs a lot of help, very overgrown. Your garden is beautiful, thanks for sharing! 💗
Thank you so much Karen… your comments make me smile! I told myself that if I fall while jumping on the garbage can, it will make for a great blooper. But I didn’t so all is well. Hahaha 🌸❤️👍Liz
I linda like the oldness of the chair but I was also thinking of like a vibrant blue
Hi Torey… thank you for taking the time to comment. I like the oldness of the chair as well. And a couple other people said to rust it out more. I love rust!!!. So before I decide on a color to paint it I think I’m gonna see if I can sand it down to expose more metal and then try to rust it out more. hope you are staying cool my friend. This is definitely a butt kicking heat wave!
@@GardenHappy I must say my part of Cali I’m close to Long Beach it’s hot but not in the 100° but it’s hot
Wow my lovely Liz, you sure have been working hard today cleaning things up!!it's going to be worth all your hard work because it's looking nice!!❤❤❤ You sure had a lot of growth to take down for now!! Always hearing your sweet lovely voice makes my day!! Keep up the good work ❤❤😊😊❤😊😊
Thank you, Mike. I appreciate your nice comment and encouragement. Definitely hot outside. I had to get everything done. Nice and early. Spending the day resting before I have to go to work tomorrow. I hope you’re enjoying your day too and thanks again for stopping by.❤️🌸👍Liz
@@GardenHappy I'll always give you encouragement and kind imy dear sweet lovely lady 💖❤️😘😘 be careful in the heat and stay hydrated!! It's not as hot here last few days but it's warmer today and I've been inside since 2 my time keeping cool 😎
Well, that’s good its not as hot where you are. All the garden centers and nurseries in my town close by one and send the employees home. Which is wonderful. I’m sure this heat wave will pass in another week.🌸❤️👍Liz
@@GardenHappy oh my now that's definitely hot my love 😘😘😘 there thinking we'll get rain from the hurricane maybe Tues and Wednesday possibly and 2-3 inches we could use it for sure Liz
It looks beautiful!
Thank you so much, Cheryl! ❤️🌸👍Liz
Lavender for the chair!
Thank you Karen!!!💜🌸💜🌸💜Liz
Hello from Rosamond Ca. Dose your Jasmine get morning sun or afternoon sun?
Hello Carherine, I’ve never heard of a city called Rosamond in California. Small town perhaps? My pink jasmine gets both morning and afternoon sun. It loves the sun. I’ve grown one in parts sun before, but it got very laggy and did not produce as many blooms. Hope that helps. And have a wonderful day.🌸🌸🌸Liz
@@GardenHappy thank you for your response. I'm thinking mine is ready for a bigger container because I have most of my plant in containers because of groundhogs and so maybe that's why it's so small. thank you again.
Hi again Cathernine how old is your jasmine plant?
That corner looks amazing. I'd vote for my favorite color, cobalt blue, for that chair, although I would leave it rusty and perhaps put a flowering potted plant on it. On the other hand, my garden is Rust Has a Home. Keep cool, Liz! 🐦🐦🐦
Hello Majellamaas! I totally agree and love rust as well. Maybe I can get it sandblasted so it’s all bare metal then it will rest out better. I just don’t like the half painted in between stages. But I agree I would prefer it just to be all rest. Thank you for taking the time to comment.❤️🌸👍Liz
@@GardenHappy You are quite welcome!
Love the idea of cobalt blue! But I too LOVE the look of natural rust! Thanks for your comment! I'm gonna try sanding it down first and see if I can get it down to bare metal then rust it all out! Appreciate you taking the time to stop by. Liz
I'm planting vinca and portulaca to replace the less heat tolerant flowers. Great job refreshing the garden for the summer heat.😊❤
Oh, that is so awesome. I think you will be very happy with the Vinca. And just so you know, all the Vinca that I pruned back, because of this extreme heat, well it’s already growing back again. So don’t be scared to prune yours if it starts to go to seed and get stressed out. I’ve never heard of that other plant you said (portulaca) now I’m intrigued. Glad you are enjoying your garden too. Thanks for stopping by.❤️🌸👍
That was definitely a workout 😅. Looks so beautiful!
Hahaha Thanks HelpMamaRemote! Yea it was definitely a good workout for sure! So happy I was able to get that done before the heat wave in California hit. Now I’m stuck in the house for a few days. Appreciate you taking the time to visit me.🌸❤️👍Liz
Wow Liz ... Holy macarel that Jasmine certainly was super big 😮... I've noticed that you replant or newly plant different things throughout the season ... we usually plant a lot in the springtime and then maintain and maybe add a couple things here or there throughout - I guess cause you have longer warm weather than us? 🎉❤ I went out early and mowed the lawn and then weeded filling a large bag for the dump 🤪 I love all the colors in your happy garden 🎉from Andrea 😊see you next time
Hello Andrea, thank you for taking the time to comment. Reason why I don’t plant a whole bunch more in spring is because I didn’t always have the money. Plus when I go to the nursery, new plants are being sold for that particular season and week, so I just can’t resist. For example, I cannot really find Vinca in the spring time. Those come out when the weather gets warmer. It must be a California thing. There’s always new plants at the garden centers every month and sometimes every week. glad you are spending time in your garden too. I hope the heat wave didn’t affect you too badly.🌸❤️👍Liz
@GardenHappy yes well I'm hoping for a couple of new plants soonish...maybe some echinacea (coneflowers)...I have the financial limits too ... the perrenials are what I'm adding little by little in hope that they will survive winter and flower up the place for years to come 😊always a work in progress but that's what makes it fun!💖from Andrea
Always a work in progress for sure. I think our gardens will be a never-ending journey. 😂😂😂Liz
Is beautifull, but I have cleaning symdrone, always sweeping😊
Oh my goodness Mercedes my patio ALWAYs needs sweeping!!! For some reason the wind always blows everything in my patio. It drives me nuts. Thanks for stopping by! ❤️👍🌸Liz
You should put water in the plant stand for the insects? ❤ I love the space, redo. So beautiful 😍
Thank you so much, Dolores. I appreciate you taking the time to visit me. The plant stand is not watertight, but that is an excellent idea. I had a little saucer in my garden that I put water in for the insects, but the mosquitoes started laying eggs in it. So now I have a little birdbath in the center of one of my veggie boxes. I see the bees, wasps, and butterflies drinking from that all the time. I will show that in my next video. Thank you again for your kind words and encouragement.👍❤️🌸Liz
How about spraying the chair a metallic color like copper or bronze? Vincas are a favorite summer plant of mine as well.
Oh wow, I never even thought of that. Thank you so much for that suggestion. It’s so crazy the different comments and suggestions I get. That is a very interesting one. I’ve never used that kind of paint before. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Oh my goodness it must be so hot in Texas. Has your garden survived this heat wave it’s super crazy isn’t it? 😅Liz
@@GardenHappy I like using the bright copper paint. There are stone looking paint sprays you could use but I think that would work better on something more solid like a wooden bench. Next time you look for paints, check out the specialty spray paints. You might want to use the glass paint on something for your patio. The 100's are gone for now and we are back into the 90's. Honestly, I hate summers and since I am long retired, I stay indoors. No gardening for me. I just hope to keep what I have alive by watering. Dawn in Texas.
Hi Don, I know what you’re saying, the older I get the more I’m not liking where I live. I think I would like to move up into the mountains a little further just to get a little relief from the sun. This extreme heat just takes the joy out of gardening. Funny how when we were younger we probably liked the heat but now, no thank you! Haha 😫
Beautiful day for you my dear
Thank you so much Betaniaclemente! Have a nice day in your garden too! 🌸❤️👍Liz
Always looks so nice!
Thank you so much James! 😊 Liz
Hello! 🌸👍❤️
Hey there! Could you please tell me what fertilizer you used on your vincas? I'm having the same problem with my vincas. It's 110 degrees where I'm at. I'm going to try your tips with my vincas.
Hey there, my friend and I am so sorry you’re experiencing the same problem as I am. I always use an organic fertilizer (because it does not burn any plants) called Espoma Rose Tone. Any of the Espoma fertilizers work GREAT! I also water my garden every morning before I know it’s going to be hot. Sometimes again in the evening. Let’s pray we make it through this heat wave!!! It was 113 for me today!!! Ahhhhhh 😂😂😂Liz
@@GardenHappy Thank you Liz! I bought some of that fertilizer for my roses after you said how well it worked on your roses. How should I apply it to the vincas? Mine are in pots too. I'm wondering how much to put in each pot, you just put a little bit in and scratch it into the soil right? I think before you just put a handful around the base of each rose but not sure how much to put for the vincas. I'm glad it won't burn my plants!! Thanks again friend!!
That’s so awesome that you bought that fertilizer. I think you will be very happy with it. That’s the same fertilizer that Laura from the KZread channel Garden answer uses. That’s how I got turned onto it. I believe on the back of the package there is instructions on how much to use. However, I never read those instructions. LOL I would probably put a tablespoon of fertilizer in each potted vinca. You can scratch it in if you like then water. Repeat that every couple of weeks. That fertilizer is so good for your soil too, and it feeds all the microorganisms. The synthetic fertilizer, like miracle grow actually harms the microorganisms in the soil. But this rose tone fertilizer ( all the to e products) actually feeds the soil. So all around it’s just so much better to use. I hope you will enjoy it too. 🙏👍🥰❤️Liz
Yes! I paid that high price, good for you to find them!
Hi Joan… don’t feel bad for paying the high price. Honestly, if I had the money at the time, I probably would have bought the rose from the Eden website. I’m sure your Rose is beautiful and worth every dime. I appreciate you taking the time to visit me.🌸🌸🌸 Liz
That red Crepe Myrtle is dreamy!! I am excited to see how your new little corner turns out!! 🌱🌼💛
Awww thank you so much, Pixieofjoy! I am super excited as well. It’s been 110° here in California so I haven’t been able to go shopping yet for the items I need. Hopefully when the weather cools down, I can put it all together. Appreciate you taking the time to stop by. 👍❤️🌸Liz
@@GardenHappy Hopefully this heatwave will pass soon! I'm in CA as well, and the heat is brutal. Try to stay cool! 😎
Yes, I’m hoping this heat wave passes soon. We actually reached 113°. Never in my life has it ever been this hot where I live. I’m so ready to move up into the mountains.!!! Haha 😅
I'm in zone 4B in WI. I too have a claw foot bathtub, it is painted like a cow, and, has a cute wooden cow head attached. This is my 4th yr. and I've put a a spike in the middle and tall red flowers 3 on ea. side(I can't remember the name) and then I plant about 30 different kinds & colors of petunias It always turns out gorgeous and is my Showpiece. I have 8 separate gardens, ea. in a different theme. It has rained so much here I'm afraid my poor plants are getting too much water, as they really look stressed. I have a lot in pots also. Love your doors & benches & garden.
Oh how fun a clawfoot bathtub that looks like a cow. It doesn’t get any better than that. Your garden sounds absolutely lovely and fun. Thank you for taking the time to visit me today. I appreciate the comment.👍❤️🌸Liz
Love your garden
Thank you so much Jane, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Hope you are having an amazing day.🥰❤️👍Liz

Awww thank you so much Myrah… you just made my day!!! ❤️👍🥰Liz
I love your garden tours. The red Crepe Myrtle is absolutely gorgeous. Love all your colour in the whole garden. Thank you from Perth Western Australia.
Good morning Wendy thank you so so much for taking the time to stop by. Your lovely comment totally made me smile this morning. I find it so much fun. How are KZread can connect people from all over the world. From Perth Western Australia to California. How wonderful ❤️🥰👍Liz
Those vinca are looking great. I still need to get some for a new container I have. That little mosaic table is so cute, I love doing trash to treasure. My pink jasmine died over the winter. I bought my first Crape Myrtle this past week. It is a lavender one. That arbor with a fountain in that corner will be wonderful and the sound of water will be so relaxing for you. The heat wave is pretty intense up here in the mountains too, I am keeping a close eye on the plants to make sure they don't get too stressed.
Good morning Pam and thank you for taking the time to stop by. Yes the heat wave is very intense. Had I know it got so hot out here in the valley I probably never would have gotten chickens. They suffer the most and I feel so bad for them. I do my best to keep them cool. 😅 I wonder if your lavender crêpe myrtle is a Muskogee??? I think those are the most beautiful crêpe myrtles of all. I wonder if your pink jasmine did not like the frost? It’s so crazy how we are only about an hour away from each other yet it makes such a big difference. The older I get the more I want to escape the heat! Hahaha moving up farther past the foothills is definitely a plan of mine for the future. Sonora, angels camp, Columbia, etc. but then of course I’m told that people are having a hard time getting fire insurance up there. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to stop by it’s always fun chatting with a fellow neighbor/KZreadr! 😄😄😄Liz
I love how you made your plant stand. Very clever and so unique! Thanks for the vinca tips. When this heat wave is over I would like to get some vinca’s and lantana. Even though some of your plants are heat stressed your garden still looks beautiful 🌺🌼🌸
Hi Ginger Thanks so much! 😊 I appreciate your kind words. This heat wave is the highest temperatures I’ve ever experienced. All of my vinca is starting to go to seed so I will definitely be pruning them all back. I have to water every single day. I don’t mind and I’m not complaining, it’s just really hot this year and very different from what I’ve ever experienced. Yes I hope you do get a lamb. The butterflies will appreciate it as well. Thanks for stopping by Ginger. I hope you have a beautiful day in your garden too.👍🥰❤️Liz
I think periwinkle would be a great color for your rusty chair.

@@GardenHappy Liz, I'm tickled to death you got off in time to enjoy the 4th and spend it with your family and friends!! :) I actually stayed home last night and relaxed watched TV and finally went to bed soon as neighbors around the area finally stopped shooting them off about 130 ? I think lol

Hi there, Barbara and thank you for taking the time to comment. What I have noticed about crêpe myrtle is the different colors bloom at different times. My white crêpe myrtle tree bloomed first, the red was second and now my purple one is blooming. So there is still hope for yours. I like the crêpe myrtles that are in Bush form because the trunks are so pretty. Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you have a beautiful day in your garden too. It is definitely hot right now.
