Look at that zucchini making a cameo appearance. Mine are only 1 inch tall! I do miss the long garden season of the valley. I love instant color this time of year too. Now you make we want to go get some vinca, it does so well in the heat and it has finally heated up here in the mountains. Beautiful job, I do love that tub.

Thank you Pam. . . . I am very pleased with my zucchini and Vinca. . . however I admit I am REALLY getting tired of this heat and contemplate moving up to the mountains as well. Just not as far as you. Maybe Angels camp or Jackson. Just a little further up. Thank you for your comment about my tub. I actually picked that up at a flea market for $50.00 what a score right???

I wouldn’t call it a garden fail... it’s more of an end of those plant’s life and time for new life. It looks so pretty with the new and instant gratification. We all need that from time to time and seeds take too long. It brings such joy going to look and buy plants. Love it!

Sometimes, especially when it is so hot now, it is best to really soak your container, with the plant in it. . Also, when you dig that hole for plant, water well. There just may be some hot air pockets being missed. So,frustrating when there is a failure, due to the cost of the plant and material. This year, I am experimenting with California Native Plants. I just planted 4 of them, and then it really got hot! Still have to baby them until more roots get going! Good luck!

That is such great thank you for sharing those tips with me. It is getting so hot here in my area in California as well. I am in Garden zone 9B. I’m excited to hear what native plant you are going to grow. I’ve been trying to grow Shoey milkweed, but it’s so hard to grow from seed and you cannot buy those plants anywhere in the store. Maybe you need to refresh the soil? I have a raised bed with perennials and it did the same thing. It's probably a soil issue?
