    I was so immersed in the story, I couldn’t believe it had been 3 hours. When it ended, I wanted to walk directly into the theater to see part two. It was an incredible experience. I love the old west, and I’ve never felt like I was actually living and experiencing the lives of those people. I also loved the morality that gets brought into question, the boy who witnessed the Natives kill his family, then realizes revenge isn’t everything he thought it would be. What kind of man will he turn out to be? A bitter man who uses a grudge to make him a bad man? Or forgive and forget, move on and realize the whole world (especially Natives) aren’t the bad guys. That intense scene in the gun shop where he’s squared up with a Native was Incredible. It was the most intense moment in a film since “No Country For Old Men.” When the antagonist is asking the clerk about the coin flip. Then, the Wagon Train story, you have a guy who isn’t a bad man, but he’s an artist who has his head in the clouds being scolded by the trail boss. On the other hand, you have the duality of two hard working men pulling their weight, so they think they’re entitled to take whatever they want (the woman bathing). And the moral line in the middle of the man with the rough looking daughters. I can’t wait to see where that goes. Finally, the love story of the widowed woman and the military Calvary man. All leading to the town of “Horizon” being built eventually. Which will be the Old West town in the fourth film. So we see the journey of the settlers and how the town came to be. The hardships and the struggles. Finally, the Costner character being a traditional American hero who saves the damsel in distress, not because he is in love with her, but because it’s the honorable thing to do. Even if she’s a prostitute. No ulterior motives. Wow, it’s so sweeping as an Epic too. I’m just so PUMPED! I haven’t seen an adult film in theaters that doesn’t spoon feed you the narrative and lets you see the story unfold naturally in years. Maybe since “There Will Be Blood”! 10/10. Loved it.

    Kevin didn't pay for the whole movie himself. Some private Financiers gave him the first $100 million. Kevin paid for everything beyond that needed to get the film finished and all the Marketing costs, which was at Least $38 Million and probably a Lot more. After 10 days, the movie has only sold $22 mil worth of tickets. Not good.

    That is true, but still respect to Costner for putting up millions of dollars to get his vision out. I do think there will be some deal with a streaming service in the future to make up some of the difference in the box office losses. So if you liked this movie I don’t think you should be too worried about the rest not releasing.

    @@kaneeddy I think there is ZERO chance of there being a part 3 and 4, since Chapter 1 just Lost $100 Million. Why would anyone keep throwing good money after bad? The box office returns from #1 were supposed to pay for the production costs on #3. If Kevin has any sense at all, he'll cancel the Aug. 16 release of Chapter 2. Once #1 is finished petering out at the box office, then put it out on Home video. IF he lucks out and #1 Catches an audience on streaming, then release #2 later on.

    I actually do think it may catch on streaming I mean just looking at my comments section a lot of people seem to like this. I don’t understand it but hey people enjoyed it and it seems like the generation that is into this movie don’t go to theatres all that often. I know 2 is releasing no matter what because it has already been made and both 3 and 4 I believe have already been written. It could be possible that they may release those last 2 on a slightly smaller budget purely for streaming which I think better suits these movies anyway.

Love how the Indians spoke authetic apache in this movie, and how instead of grouping them all in one group, he let us know that they themselves were divided, some attacked settlers, many did not and comdemmed it. Great movie full of awesome moments. If you’re aiming your comments at me then I need to assure you I like all kinds of movies I’m not here to isolate the kinds of movies I watch because I’m insecure about my masculinity. Movies like Top Gun Maverick are fantastic, which I happily discussed on this platform. If we’re talking modern westerns with longer runtimes, Killers of the Flower Moon is incredible which I also covered. I like experimental and auteur stuff from A24, and yes I like to have a blast with my fiancé and enjoy a movie like Barbie which once again have all been discussed here. I didn’t like this movie, I tried to be as fair as I could to it, but you know sometimes movies just don’t work for you. It’s not a personal attack if I didn’t like a movie you loved. I’m sure you hate certain movies I like but I could not care less because we’re not the same person.

Absolutely nothing I could say will wake you from your woke slumbers, or help you understand anything remotely outside your own perspective because you do not understand the language. Your generation was programmed to speak and understand ONLY a _version_ of the language that has been twisted to serve a political purpose. I am not a professional linguist, but ithis truth was shown to me by an actual professional linguist. You'd be better served to move along and speak to those in your generation. Good review, but I'm curious to hear what you thought was so obvious about the mid-credit RMF scene. I have my own ideas about it, but a lot of people seem to be unsure what the significance - if any - there was to it. You made it sound like the film was beating you over the head to drive a point home, but that's not really the vibe I've gotten from hearing other people discuss it.

  • @kaneeddy
    @kaneeddy2 күн бұрын

    Thank you so much, I do think on the metaphorical side RMF leaves a lot of room for speculation. But for me RMF is just the tangible link between these stories to illustrate that they all exist in the same world. I believe Yorgos spoke on the character in a similar fashion just mentioning it was just fun element that links the stories. Kinds of Kindess is already linked thematically through the stories themselves but I had suspected that the characters while played by the same actors represent different types of people. I had already suspected this and when it reveals in that scene that the character is still RMF to me was just that confirmation. It is definitely fun but I didn’t really need it personally. If you do look at this like the rest of the movie trying to analyse the deeper meaning behind the character that is where you get the varied thoughts and opinions. But sometimes Yorgos is just playful and not everything has a deeper meaning and I am fine thinking that is all RMF is. I know there are theories that also work like how he represents the key element of Kindness in each story which can be plausible and I am having fun looking into that as well.

    There is _nothing_ an 'R' rating would have improved in these two movies. The coherency of the story is not rating dependent. The (lack of) complexity of the characters and their individual character growth is not rating dependent. The "Snyder Cut" is just a marketing buzzword now. It's meaningless. All that we would get in an 'R' version is nudity (almost certainly all women) and gore. And even the added runtime is nonsense. He could have gotten each movies, with whatever scenes he deliberately cut for "Snyder Cut" version, in under 2 hours _just by cutting 95% of the slow-motion._

  • @kaneeddy
    @kaneeddy9 күн бұрын

    I completely agree with you here, I will not be wasting my time with the Snyder cut on either of these movies. He had a good reason with Justice League but now it is being taken too far. Many film makers are able to get their vision out so why is Snyder the only one who can’t seem to get it right the first time. This isn’t a High School project where you have a draft. People are paying money to see these movies so he should fight harder for his version rather than constantly short change the audience and then try to make it up to us later.

    FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Just finished watching Furiosa and agree with most of your points. This film is *very* different from Fury Road and I think that is what disappointed most people. Rather than just trying to top Fury Road and give us *more* of everything, Miller instead goes in a different direction and gives us a more traditional, more "normal," film. Rather than just one long 2-hour chase, Furiosa has more plot, more story and more dialogue. Hemsworth was *so* good in this and so funny; definitely the film's MVP. Playing a warlord that's too stupid to be afraid of anyone else, he blindly throws his minions at every challenge, never stopping to consider consequence or nuance. Let's hope we don't have to wait another decade for the next chapter in this saga:)

  • @kaneeddy

    I think the fact that it dares to try something different makes it pretty memorable. I loved Furiosa’s journey and I think it makes Fury Road become one epic movie if you watch both movies back to back. It definitely has its flaws but for the most part this film flew by and I had a great time. Hemsworth was so good in this movie and I think he really enhances the screenplay with his performance. I am pretty interested to see where George Miller goes next and hopefully as you said it doesn’t take 10 years.

I remember I saw The Lighthouse about 6-7 months after the US release. It has gotten better overtime but for a while it seemed like Australian theatres were only interested in whatever the big studios were doing and that’s it. I never associate kindness with submission, obviously in the film the concept is carried at his extreme, but it works. The first script is my favourite, I think is the most straightforward to understand, i don’t get completely the other two, there are especially in the third a lot of religious/esoteric themes so i think i need a rewatch. I think the first story is the best too, it just had the right combination of themes, whacky moments and intriguing characters that really worked. 2 and 3 are fine to me but do get a little wishy washy at points until the final moment of the movie which I thought blatantly told us what he was getting at with the story. I'm so glad that film is allowing more people to experience this story. My wife and I bought the comic at Comic Con years ago when it came out - we had just discovered First-Second publishers, and grabbed up a bunch of their recommendations. We sat in a line for a panel and started reading it together, laughing and smiling as it went, quietly commenting as we both moved through the story. I haven't seen the film, but it sounds like it ends EXACTLY the same way, because we were both sitting there, weeping over this little book, and smiling at the same time. It is maybe a case of perfect graphic storytelling. I can't wait to see the movie and be broken again.

    That is such a great story!! I would love to read the book one day. The film does do things that can only be done in that format, even from what I hear if the narrative is very similar to the graphic novel. I think the movie is worth watching because of what it does as a cinematic experience.

    Saw "Dracula" in theaters on first release; loved it then and still love it now. Haven't seen the film in at least a decade but I still remember how cool and unusual all the practical effects were. And before you even mentioned it here, I was thinking about that scene where Dracula's shadow acts out on it's own:) I liked how the film pulled no punches when dealing with the vampires feeding on the newborn. One of my very favorite Coppola films, it was nominated for 4 Oscars and won 3.

    The Oscar’s it won were so deserving. I would have loved to have seen this in theatres it would have been pretty mind blowing. I think the practical effects and shadows will be the thing I think about first when it comes to this movie, it’s just such an inspired stylistic choice.

    To be honest, her only likely competition could be Saoirse Ronan for The Outrun if she's nominated. As of now, she definitely could win

    After seeing the trailer for The Outrun I do think Saoirse Ronan could be in the mix. But I think Anora potentially being in the Best Picture race also could really boost Mikey Madison’s chances of winning.

    Safe is the perfect word to describe this movie. It looks visually beautiful but bland at the same time.

    Exactly, there are definitely moments that shine, it’s not complete garbage. But unlike the trilogy that came before this just felt so uninspired to me.

    I've got Anora in 2nd place for Best Picture after Sing Sing. I'm thinking Mikey Madison can win Best Lead Actress. We'll see if Noemie Merlant, Saoirse Ronan, Angelina Jolie, Zoe Saldana, Zendaya, or Lady Gaga can compete.

  • @kaneeddy
    @kaneeddyАй бұрын

    I think the exact same thing, I would like Zendaya to strongly be in the conversation but as of right now Mikey Madison is a clear front runner and I don’t have a lot of confidence in some of the potential contenders in that category right now to overtake the buzz she has received, that could of course change as these movies release but we will have to wait and see. While I really want Dune to win Best Picture a lot and do have it as my current frontrunner I have a feeling they’re going to give it to a more indie film this year which could be Anora. Sing sing is also in the mix for sure and Domingo potentially winning best actor does help its case.

    @@kaneeddy I think Sing Sing will win BP. DUNE II came out too early this year to keep up Oscar hype I'm guessing. I hope Zendaya can get nominated for Challengers still though.
