Honestly that’s the way to go haha.

This movie was a big time disappointment to me. The narrative is very weak. The actions and reactions of the characters is often implausible in certain key moments. Seems like a collection of set pieces that dont really connect. Plus the music can be off putting and took me out of the movie too many times. Then some of the art house film style and dialogue in the slow portions was just bland. This movie is a poor imitation of Children of Men which had very similar dystopian themes but a much better narrative and more plausible characters.

Thanks for your comment and the different perspective. I’m not surprised that we have had different experiences with the movie. It seems to me that this is hitting everyone very differently. Some of the things that you pointed out as flaws I quite liked. For example the needle drops and score to me were excellent in changing the tempo of the film. Civil War is this roller coaster in a way because it builds to something and crashes down again and I quite liked the way that this film in particular executed that. I thought this narrative could have been an absolute disaster but I was really connecting with all of these characters so I had no problem connecting with the overall narrative of the film. I thought the progression was very smooth to me as well because it has a very clear goal and end point so to me everything just fit in quite seamlessly. I do need to check out Children of Men at some point. It would be interesting to see what it does differently.

Seems like this movie is getting glowing reviews from smaller movie critics on KZread, smells like paid reviews and yeah yeah "you'd never do anything like that" its not an accusation it's just my opinion.

If anyone is taking payment to sway a review score they should not have a channel or discuss film in that capacity ever. I know plenty of big channels that are giving the movie positive reviews too (Chris Stuckmann, Sean Chandler, Angry Joe Show). I just think the movie is divisive like that. Alex Garland movies are always mixed so they’re always so hard to recommend to a widespread audience. I can only speak on my experience and that’s it. Also just as a point of reference as a small channel I’ve been trying to get access to press screenings for A24 movies like Civil War for ages but I still haven’t heard a weep from them. So obviously they’re not secretly offering me any money haha.

Sorry the most waited film is Deadpool

This movie SUCKED! A must miss. No plot, no depth, no point, no character connection, no realism. A political/military movie made by people who know nothing about politics or the military.

Civil War sucked lol. Its more about the characters than the actual war. The movie only had 2 good scenes, thats it. And yes, Ive seen the movie

The fact that’s it’s more about the characters rather than just being an empty call of duty movie makes it so much more enjoyable. Also there is plenty of action in this that is filled with intensity. Idk I really enjoyed it but agree to disagree.

Should have called it revolution not civil war. 😂 it was civilians vs the military no civilian vs civilian

This is one of those films that I want to see but the premise just makes me uncomfortable as an American due to how much maga Republicans in our country seem to want to have a civil war which is super insane. It’s like, I know it’s fiction and it’s probably a brilliant film but it’s just a difficult subject.

Completely understand that, because I’m kind of removed from it in Australia I could appreciate it just as a film without the tenseness of the political situation. I am sure as an American the film would probably feel really different to what I experienced. I was able to really just follow the characters journey within this dystopian America which made for a really incredible viewing experience. After now seeing some Americans review this I saw a completely different perspective that I didn’t feel when watching it myself. I think that makes the movie really rich in a sense but there were definitely moments where you are thinking to yourself imagine if something like this actually happened?

Succession is actually most popular in California based on polling and its not of the trumper base. Its like 30% approved of granted if i remember correctly, it was under the premise of another trump term. Times be weird idk sadly nation division is pretty bipartisan

I think the movie was incredible and I think if more people watched it for what it is rather than what people thought it would be they would enjoy it a lot more.
