The thing that gets me about James I being bisexual. Rather than acting with disgust or whatever, there were nobles with say a pretty young nephew who would introduce them to the king, to curry favour. Being related to a Kings favourite had it's advantages after all.

I am a form believer in all organic. For 20 years my husband and I carved an organic garden/homestead out of 5-acres of white oak forests. Two and one half acres was my native plants that I planted for my handmade papers and a huge wildflower meadow. It was a huge project that I loved designing, planting and managing all by myself - no gardeners.

It's clear Richard killed the boys, who were the rightful heirs. They were under his care, they died in very mysterious circumstances and he never explained what happened. Do the math. So Shakespeare was correct when it came to Richard: he wasn't the rightful heir to the throne and he murdered his way to the top. The revisionism has pushed back too far on Richard III's account.

I can only just hear traffic, but the birds are a wonderful foil to that sound. The emotion evoked by this garden, it strokes mood, calming, elevating and, bringing a feeling of joy.I remember reading a book called The Secret Life of Plants, it came out in the 80's from that time on I talked and even sang to my garden...

"Unfortunately, documentaries about history are considered "patriarchal white propaganda" as the realities of what had really happened in the past gets into conflict with the new kind of Puritanism: Critical Race Theory and Cultural Marxism.

So. This shows 'a coup' because of the king's 'modernity' but excludes the fact that this modernity includes notions of fascism, totalitarianism and nazi sympathies? Don't forget, fascism *was* seen as modern at some point, and nazi's loved to brand themselves as 'anti-establishment'. This documentary seems to have fallen for a very specific trap here.

His travelling for one year alone puts the same amount of pollution in the atmosphere as a football field, stacked 3 feet high of tyres and set fire to. No wonder he seems bewildered at his critics. Up until the early 2000s you'd find more v8 petrol engined vehicles in that estate than on your average housing estate. He's a menace to the environment. What he's doing is similar to flying around the world picking up environmentally friendly electronic appliances and then using them for 12 months and doing the same thing again. It's laughable, the gardens look good but at a cost of 175,000 a year in wages to maintain them, its hardly surprising

I have seen another documentary that shows the lengths Cosmo Lang went to to remove Edward VIII from the throne. However, while these documentaries want to portray Edward as a modernising King who was forced to go, the truth is that he wasn’t cut out to be King. He was a pathetic, weak man with very questionable political views and in retrospect we know those who arguably worked to remove him were on the right side of history. I think Wallis Simpson has also been badly represented for years. She’s been seen as this dreadful American woman who stole our King. Well, she was American and she may well have been dreadful, but she didn’t steal anyone, in fact she was trapped in a situation she couldn’t get out of because Edward wouldn’t let her go. Mrs Simpson thought she’d have a fling with the then future King for a while and then it would be over and she’d go back to her life with Ernest Simpson. Edward had other ideas. He hooked his claws into her and wouldn’t let go. He even issued the ultimate disgusting threat, ‘if you leave me, I’ll kill myself’. What kind of man threatens a woman with that? Even so, Mrs Simpson was trapped. When he became King she begged him not to abdicate, but no, he had to have his own way. Edward was a pathetic, weak, selfish man and Mrs Simpson had the misfortune to be stuck in exile with him for the rest of their lives.

It was a very enlightening program and I enjoyed listening to Alan Ereira's narration as well as learning a few things. However, I would have liked to have seen the program extended to include Athelstan (considered to be the first official king of all England 925-939) through to Harold II (last Saxon king who lost to William the Conqueror in 1066). Also would like to have had some additional information about a couple of the sovereigns instead of glossing over them (Edward VI and Lady Jane Grey don't have much on them at all and there was more to their stories than just being tossed the crown and told they were king/queen).

Charles is a man who loved nature , growing things and working in the soil, quiet time to reflect and be one with all nature offered. He was way ahead of the times in his thinking on organic farming. Very intelligent, quite caring man. Diana was a city girl, she liked the things the city offered. She was a girly girl who didn't like to get dirty. What a shame she didn't share any of Charles passion for the outdoors and growing things. They truly had so little in common. They may have been better friends than lovers. It's a shame his position more or less forced him into a marriage that wasn't a fit for either.

What a beautiful series of gardens. I have been gardening since I was a small child. I'm 69. Both sets of Grandparents and my father were Gardners. My current home was a " blank canvas" as well , 19 years ago, and I've turned the 2 acres into my own private escape, full of flowers and plants, and vegetables. I so appreciate King Charles and can truly understand his love for gardening. His gardens speak for the kind of man he is. The world truly has misunderstood this man. Prayers that he has more years to enjoy the labor of love he has created here.

February 2024. I watched all of the episodes. As someone born in the U.S., the history is what keeps many of us intrigued by the UK and emotionally tied to it. I know a good bit (2/3) of my heritage is from the UK. I have followed it from a distance my entire life. The only part that bothered me was the end. Parts of it sounded a bit catty/petty. I would imagine an institution that long standing and impressive would be well worth $1/yr from the citizens. I can assure you our government steals much more from us to give to people all over the world while our own countrymen suffer….although I do believe the Queen Mother should have been reigned in by someone. And if there were one person living that I could meet and have dinner with, it would probably be Princess Anne. What a badass she is!
