I'm pretty sure you and king Henry are not bffs, so how would you know if he did or didn't have anything? Everyone and anyone can have a opinion on if he did or didn't have something without trolls reading every comment and saying your wrong. Come on down off your high horse please and thank you.

    Considering he had no living illegitimate children with his mistresses (which would've accounted for his "health"), your theory of Anne being the "sick one" can be thrown out of the window.

    THEmypersonalchaos Laughing at Anne Boleyn? The woman who over the centuries, has inspired or been mentioned in numerous artistic and cultural works & as a result, has retained her hold on the popular imagination. Anne has been called "the most influential and important queen consort England has ever had", since she provided the occasion for Henry VIII to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon, and declare his independence from Rome. Henry's marriage to Anne, and her subsequent execution by beheading, made her a key figure in the political and religious upheaval that was the start of the English Reformation. I will agree, however, that King Henry VIII with his king-sized ego is definitely laughable.

    Something else many historians seem to have ignored is that Anne's very first letter to Henry was to try to put him off, saying she believed his declarations of interest were to mock her, as a commoner. She reminded him he was a married man and that "she did not wish to incur the displeasure of the good Queen Katherine". Anne took herself back to Hever hoping the king would soon lose interest. She returned his gifts and refused to reply to his letters. So he began stalking her out at Hever. . .she and her family were in a very precarious position. There was no precedent of an English king having his marriage annulled to marry a commoner so Anne did not expect it either. . .there are clues in some of Wyatts poetry that she was hunted by the great royal stalker and there was to be no escape: "And while I kindly am served, I'd like to know what she has deserved. . .". Wyatt had some inkling of what her fate would be.

    A crucial event was omitted in this documentary, King Henry viii was severely injured in a jousting accident which rendered him unconscious for two hours. It did not go unnoticed the radical personality changes that resulted from brain damage. The king became increasingly paranoid with extreme mood swings, charming and agreeable in one moment then a bloodthirsty tyrant the next. It is fair to speculate that Anne Boleyn may have been spared the execution had he not had the massive brain damage and other serious injuries from his accident.

    Lizzy's den you're correct. As a matter of fact, Anne was 3 months pregnant at the time with her second child in which she had a miscarriage. Of course, it was her fault thst she was so distraught by her husband's accident that she suffered a miscarriage....her fault that the miscarriage was in fact a baby boy. Women in those times were always blamed for everything that went wrong with regards to not being able to produce a heir.

    There’s a lot of evidence that she fell out with Thomas Cromwell over foreign policy and the redistribution and conversion of the soon to be suppressed religious houses, with Anne wishing them to be used for the education and proselytising of the laity whilst Cromwell sought to use them to boost revenue to the crown by selling them to new and middling men. Cromwell likely orchestrated Anne’s fall and Henry, in a bad emotional state and with the effects of the jousting accident taken into account, likely just believed what he had reported to him by Cromwell.

The papers dubbed him "Farmer George" as a joke (he liked the nickname and ran with it), but after George IV's disastrous reign, it was used to flatter him for being a much more frugal and virtuous monarch than his dissolute son.

    Here's my personal hypothesis on Anne Boleyn: Henry wanted her as a mistress, but she didn't like that idea - a woman's marriage prospects in those days would be dampened if her virginity wasn't intact prior to the honeymoon unless she was independently wealthy (as was the case with Catherine Parr), something Anne wasn't. Henry, tempted by her refusal, harassed and badgered her with letters that, probably, scared the living daylights out of her until she got fed up and gave him the "I'll have sex with you only if you marry me" ultimatum in the hopes that it would make him back off. She probably wrote it as a joke - and was completely shocked when he took it seriously. Once she realized that she could actually gain power for herself and her family, she decided to roll with it, and ultimately became overconfident, which sealed her doom once she had failed to give Henry a son.

    We never hear very much about the Bullen /Boleyn family who, having had one daughter, Mary, serve as mistress to Henry , were determined that Anne as queen would serve the family's ambitions much better! it was their idea that Anne should play hard to get thereby inflaming Henry's lust to the point that he could only obtain her through marriage . Once Anne was queen, the Bullens lost no time in using Anne's position to destroy as many of their rivals at court as possible! But since Anne could not produce the much-wanted son for Henry, he began to lose interest in her, much to the alarm of the Bullens, who bullied her into sleeping with her own brother, in the hope that if she produced a son, it could be passed off as Henry's, thus securing Anne's and therefore the Bullens' position!! Unfortunately, the brother's wife blew the whistle, which was why Anne was charged with incest as well as treason and, for good measure, witchcraft! I believe that the resistance to the Bullens was led by Thomas Cromwell, who was the leading light in putting together the case against Anne and thus ending, for once and for all, the Bullens' power and influence at court ,

    There is no evidence at all she committed incest, its just an accusation. Infact no evidence ever has been found she was guilty of any of her crimes. Its widely known/believed now she was innocent and this was just to get her out of the way. The sister in law 'Who blew the whistle' was only telling them what she thought had happened, and she only though this because Anne and George were close and Jane, didnt like this.

    I appreciate the uploader's work to share this, as The Learning Channel should have been a trustworthy source (unfortunately it isn't, and hasn't been for over 20 years). The information presented was not only over-simplified, but baldly incorrect many times. It takes a lot of work to get a good sense of another era of history, and I hope anyone who is interested in any or all of these monarchs will search out a variety of books and documentaries by true historians. Much is not known even by life-long enthusiasts and professionals, but the truth and the controversies over genuinely possible truths are fascinating, well worth any effort. You'll have verifiable knowledge about the whole picture (sex included) instead of a sleazy soap-opera view of our ancestors' times. The truth really is not only stranger but often much wilder than the dumbed-down sensationalism presented here.

    Anne Boleyn was appointed one of Katherine of Aragons ladies before she ever returned from her education and stint as one of the French queen Claude's ladies, in France - so before Henry VIII ever clapped eyes on her. It was arranged because of who her father was and you can read her letter to her father discussing her coming to the English court as one of Katherine of Aragons ladies. Henry may have been interested in her but he was having an affair with her sister, and possibly others at the time. She was also supposedly betrothed to the Earl of Ormond, for financial reasons but this all fell through. And before Henry VIII ever became involved with Anne he was planning to have his marriage to Katherine of Aragon annulled as he was desperate to have a son and she was past child bearing age. He had Wolsey secretly negotiating for a French marriage, so if it wasn't Anne Boleyn, it would have been some other woman as he was determined to get rid of Katherine at all costs. So it came as a shock to Wolsey to find that the king had fallen for an English commoner and not a French princess who would bring dynastic and financial benefits and an alliance between France and England. But Wolsey thought at first that Anne would become just another mistress and soon be gone. . .

    Anne was defiant to the end and showed much grace because she was innocent of the charges. It was Catherine Howard who tried to plead to Henry after escaping the palace room she was imprisoned in after being charged. Henry had seen enough proof of her guilt and was not swayed . They say her ghost haunts the gallery hall where she ran to Henry.

  • @VeracityLH

    @VeracityLH

    Don't mix up the cousin queens; it was Henry's 5th wife Catherine Howard (Anne Boleyn's cousin) who got away from her guards and ran down the gallery at Hampton Court screaming for Henry to listen to her. Her guards caught her and dragged her back to her apartments. Henry, who had been in the chapel off the gallery praying, didn't move, nor did he ever see Catherine again. Anne's last letter to Henry held defiance and maintained her innocence of the adultery she was charged with. Her marriage to Henry was annulled 2 days before her beheading - so if the marriage had never existed, how could she be guilty of and executed for adultery? Henry didn't care about details or logic. He got what he wanted: Elizabeth declared illegitimate, Anne gone and her marriage officially erased from the record, and Henry could call himself a bachelor and pretend that Jane was his first and only true wife.

    We view it that way today, and I am certainly not going to make Henry out to be a nice guy, but there was a reason why adultery by a queen was considered treason in an age where no DNA or even blood test could determine paternity. Actions that could derail the line of succession were serious treason by anybody, and a queen who might bear another man's child would definitely fall under that category of treason.
