    Catherine should not be in a documentary called "Kiss of Death". She never had a former lover killed or mistreated. On the contrary, she always saw to them being well of after the relationship broke up. None of her lovers had a reason to regret the affair.

    The documentary is splendid and the voice remarkable . The accompanying pictures recreate an aura of that time . Some facts could , perhaps, be disputed . Nevertheless, we get to know so much about the two Queens . The research must have been diligent . Can we get something like this on many other controversial famous female personalities in history who led such sensational lives from the earliest times such as Hatsepusht , the Pharaoh and Queen Boudicea down to The 19th century? That would indeed be interesting . Anyway , thanks for this effort .

  • @jamiemohan2049

    @jamiemohan2049

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes as a matter fact it is highly hinted by Marguerite in her memoirs that she was in an incestuous relationship with her brothers. It was also widespread as during their lives the De Valois children also hinted at it. Charles and Henri likely began abusing her and then she began abusing her younger brother as is more likely in the cases of sexually abused people to do the same. She had a violent and likely sexual relationship relationship with Charles and especially Henri but her relationship with her younger brother appears to have been 'love'. Marguerite is commonly seen as a victim but she was just as bad as Henri and essentially his female equivalent. She attacked people and attempted to kill her brother when sick and also attempted to kill her husband too. She was reportedly the most beautiful woman a man could set his eyes on. Described by a Spanish ambassador as "she (Marguerite) was more like a goddess of heaven than a Princess of earth) her memoirs scandalised France.

    Henri basically admitted he slept with marguerite publicly and marguerite also heavily hinted (accidentally admitted really) at incest in her memoirs! This episode portrays marguerite as a victim, she was far from it! She was the female equivalent of her brother Henri and murdered people! She even tried to poison her husband the King of Navarre (later King of France) when that failed she shot at him publicly and escaped via carriage. The de Valois were messed up! Marguerite was also a jealous person. The de Valois were gangsters wearing tiaras really!

    How did they "forget" to mention that Catherine was in fact a German princess, a foreigner in Russia - I would think that was a detail worth mentioning. And what exactly did a "kiss of death" means in this case: did not notice too many "bloody gruesome deaths" in that case, except for her husband who she obviously did not even like!

  • @CarolinaGirl33

    @CarolinaGirl33

    I'm proud of Catherine and she was pretty great, if u ask me 😉. What's wrong with taking control of your own life and doing what you have to do, before her Cray cray "husband" got rid of her? She was pretty smart, and if you need proof of just how disposable women were back then, try researching King Henry Tudor VIII of England. And of course Catherine didn't try to f*ck her own HORSE, serrsly people? It's called slandering, it's what your enemies or rivals do to you, make up completely ridiculous rumors that paint you in a bad light, in order to discredit you. You go, girl!! 😎

  • @CarolinaGirl33

    @CarolinaGirl33

    5 жыл бұрын

    And yeah, it's not even mentioned that "Catherine" of Russia wasn't even Russian. She was a princess in a small German principality, and her father basically made a deal with the aging queen of Russia, Peter's aunt, and told his teenage daughter, "So, you're moving to Russia, and guess what! Got you a marriage deal with the future King of all the Russia's, his name is Peter, and apparently he's a little "off" in the head, but it's okay, someday you will be a QUEEN! So, chop chop, say goodbye to your mom and dad and your family and Homeland, you aren't ever coming home again. Make daddy proud, now!" Um......that poor innocent girl. She literally had absolutely NO SAY in her own LIFE. Auctioned off to the highest bidder, or traded for alliances, and political gain. She was lonely, alone, a virgin, couldn't even speak Russian, her new Aunt-in-law, the Queen was not very nice to her, her new "husband" was a freaking weirdo who played with toy action figures (soldiers😂) 24/7 and completely ignored her, and if she doesn't like it, tough sh*t. Oh and by the way, no pressure or anything, but you better get pregnant and produce an heir to the throne of RUSSIA, or something might just .....happen to ya.

    25 minutes is not enough time to explain Catherine The Great love life. There is a Russian documentary called Romanov here in KZread-land that is more detailed in the love affairs of Tsars and Tsaress. watch?v=USUA_1WVM8I Goes into detail not just about each Romanov, but also Russian history of that time, including how big the armies were, the cost of living and cost of entertainment... it's just so well made and detailed. I highly recommend it for Russian History lovers.

    why do they always talk about how beautiful royalty are, and their lovers? from the paintings and sculptures I've seen they are not, pretty homely looking or even ugly - especially the british royalty but also a lot of the other european royalty as well yuck

    My thought is that it was for self-preservation. If the king or queen can sentence you to death on a whim, you would probably try to flatter them as much as possible.

    That’s a shame😔! They didn’t need to kill Peter! They could’ve banished him to a castle🏰somewhere with his lover. Someplace he’d be safe & well taken care of, but out of the way. He would’ve been content playing his games 🎠 & bedding 🛏 his lover & that’s all. There was no reason 🚫to kill him. Poor thing 😔. 🌈
