What an awesome video Marty. That's quite ballsy stuff indeed. I wouldn't be comfortable doing it myself, but then I have not 4WD or off-road bike experience really. Hey one thing that worried me a little was you filming the cars drive by you. If they suddenly slid out a bit you might've got hit. Just be careful buddy.
Thanks, Yeah there was one car that did not know that I was there. Most car drivers were communicating on the UHF and we would give them notice that we were coming their way as a heads up, also our support drivers relayed info to them. But yes it would be easy for something to go wrong and it's a long way from medical care.
Awesome stuff - coming over from WA in September so it was great to see the process. Apart from the waiting game to get onboard it all seems to run smoothly.
@CraigZilko The staff were excellent. And don’t feel like you’re being rushed as there’s plenty of time. Thanks for watching.
Great video mate very enjoyable. Love the montage, we appreciate your hard work. Much drier during our crossing Ayre creek was passable 500 meters south of main crossing. Heck that was an interesting approach to big red 😅
It was not the best approach to Big Red. I will do it differently next time and with more speed. I hope all is going well with your journey, let's catch up soon,
@@HardPackedADV No you did well mate, I was referring to the inland sea as you approached. Yes having a great time. The horse trailer you saw seems to have been abandoned. Unfortunately the CSR is flooded so that is a bit of a bummer I was looking forward to it.
A magical place a lot colder and muddy when we were there last week. Made the hot spring all the more enticing. Very thought look at the springs well done.
I am certainly missing it, thanks.
Good stuff Marty
Great video mate 🤩 and thanks for the plug 🙏🏻🏍️💨🤠
Hello Martin, Thanks for sharing your adventures on the Simpson Desert Ride; Fantastic, well done you held on so well and the Big Red was huge.. Safe Travels....David.....Adelaide/Kilburn....Triumph Scrambler 1200X............
My pleasure!
Good one, enjoyed it 👍
And you were one of the stars.
Oh yeah for a bunch of average riders we killed it. Perfect conditions might have helped.
Oooooh...I'm excited to watch on the TV tonight!
Very informative lots of info great upload
Glad it was helpful! Much appreciated. And I have subscribed to your channel and I am looking forward to watching your content.
It’s pronounced “Munga Thirri”
I thought that it was more like "Klim"
4:02 *disgusting. That's North Tech for ya lol. How many flies did you eat? I bloody hate them and carry one of those face nets with me as well. And I didn't expect so many people there at the water hole.
Yeah thanks. I did spell that wrong.
Or incorrectly.
Those toilets😬know why that spot was empty 😂
If one had prior knowledge then one would be crazy to camp near it!
Hello Martin, Fantastic travels up North, well done, interesting conditions; Its good to be well prepared and to have people around you. I hope to catch up with you soon about the TAAT section for SA.... David....Adelaide..... Triumph Scrambler 1200X
Many thanks!
Great save
Thanks mate.
Funny u say about Flies and mozzie tag team. Me and the wife said ... these bastards are like Ralph Wolf And Sam Sheepdog . I think we were Mt Dare.. relentless AS
They are well organised.
Is that Greg on the bike?
Yes
Yes that’s me leading them into the deep dark abyss 😂
Best leader in town.
The other boys are on some pretty light dual sports, how do you find the T7? Does everything like the other bikes?
For me the T7 is top heavy, and I found that the front wheel tends to bounce around a fair bit and this could be related to the poor suspension.
@@HardPackedADV do you find yourself thinking you don't want to do something because the bike is bigger then the dual sports
Yes for sure. I have now got two bikes, I also have a Honda Transalp. I could have kept the T7 for touring as it was quite capable. It is a really good bike, but not for me.
The yellow submarine 😂
Wow, that is surreal. I had no idea the diggings were so extensive.
Yes surreal. A real adventure.
Greetings Martin; Well that was very exciting, Thanks for sharing; I am claustrophobic so no way would I go down there....safe travels... David....Adelaide Triumph Scrambler 1200X.....
Brilliant insight in to that amazing place.
Labyrinth
Great stuff...but "The Blair Witch Project" springs to mind.
I was more worried about a Wolf Creek situation.
That was so cool!
Yeee haaa.
Thanks
Thank you, very much appreciated.
Glad your ok, but c'mon mate, the title is a bit of an attention grabber, no? It did not EXPLODE, it deployed exactly as designed! I have one, have you to drop with it, but love the peace of mind..
Gday mate. I got some stedi c4 s. Do you reckon i could hook them up the same way as you did no issues. Just asking because they are bigger powered lamps. And i Brought them eith mr from Australia .Cheers . Got same bike in france.
I can't see a problem with that.
I watch this everytime I take my ' 380 ' out. I maybe sick but my 380 isn't.😅
It’s usually the other way around. If your speedo shows 80 the gps shows 70-75 ;-) So you are actually going slower than your speedo shows.
I have the same bars they have saved my bike many times. I wish I had rib crash bars I’m currently nursing my ribs too from a really small drop.
Try not to laugh, sneeze or cough. These crash bars ger a bit of a bad wrap by some but for me they certainly do the job. And I have subscribed to your channel, and will check out some of your videos. They look interesting.
Hello Martin; WOW! Great adventure with the guys, well done to all. So good to see the Flinders; David...Adelaide/Kilburn....Triumph Scrambler 1200X
We need to do a trip to the Flinders!
Always enjoyable on those roads, good weekend. Next time go left but yeh bring the DRZ👍
Next one we both are turning right onto the Simpson.
Thanks for the advice. I blew the low beam on my Suzuki up the flinders last week so it’s time for an upgrade I recon 😎
Glad to help
lol "fat ass", y'know that tasty feed isn't going to make it any less so hahaha. Anyway, good video Marty. I'll know to avoid that place for such events. Not my scene I've learned.
Yeah not mine either, I am more for Adventure riders than cruisers etc.
Looking forward to doing roads like these when I get the sidecar fitted.
That would be great. Those roads would be perfect for it.
Living in Seaton S.A. I might even see you around sometime.
For sure, just up the hill from you in Coromandel Valley.
That's Sausage's fav sand track. He's taken a few riders out to that. There are also some great silo art out that way.
indeed some great SAABR rides through there.
Hello Martin, what a fun ride, good dirt roads...I am not a fan of sand.... Good fun and a worthy cause.... David....Adelaide/Kilburn...Triumph Scrambler 1200x
Good video how have you found the Motoz GPS off road? I have a Transalp which is 3 weeks old today I have done 2,500 kms on it just got back from my first camping trip on the stock tyres they were better than I expected on easy gravel roads and forestry roads but the rear is starting to wear already. So I am starting to think about new tyres I do like the Motoz tyres I want something that will be better than the stock tyres off road as I am not that confident off road and need all the help I can get. I do probably 95% on sealed roads but on the occasion that I venture off onto unsealed loose gravel and sandy tracks that we have here in WA I will probably be alone so want something capable. I was thinking of the Adventure rear and a dual ventre front but maybe the GPS would be better suited for what I do. I am an older rider 65 this year 😁 Thanks Peter
Gear on the road. Not so good in the mud, but if you are after 50:50 tyre ride then as a 50:50 tyre and you will be fine.
Hey toffee I have the adventure rear and dualventure front on my Tenere 700 and I love them but I do a lot more off road than you, and air them down a bit when I do. They are ok on road but not ideal, you may want to go something more 50/50 as hard packed suggests, or better still, do more off road riding! Good luck.
I have Adv gps rear (50/50 direction) and dv (tubeless type with tube fitted) on my Suzuki 650. A great combo imo. I just got back from the Flinders and they performed well again. 1150km and about 700km of dirt.
Nice video. Would like to see more of that awesome DR650 :-) AS
Good work - I remember the stock headlight on my DRz was near useless. This upgrade looks to be a massive improvement
Yes, thank you.
Hello Martin; Thanks for sharing, the new LEDs make such a huge difference and it will making riding at night much safer, well done David....Adelaide/Kilburn.....Triumph Scrambler 1200X.......
Thanks mate, how’s the TAAT going?
@@HardPackedADV Like any volunteer group they are going over what we suggested and most of it is good...just takes time...Thanks for your and the groups support.
Hello -I ordered the Stedi lights for my Transalp XL750 and installed them. They look great! But when it came time to do the electrical connections, there was only ONE connector under the flexible rubber "condom". The Sumitomo plug was not there -only the one with the green dots. Any idea where I can find the correct one? Right now I have the lights on the bike, but not plugged in. I purchased the bike in Canada this past February. Any clues where they might have hidden the stock aux lighting connectors would be most helpful. Cheers!
Did you happen to look at the other side of the bike to see if there are plugs there?
@@HardPackedADV Yes I checked the other side as well -to no avail. I just saw a posting saying that those connectors are not included on the North American Transalps. Not sure what to do next. Need to find a harnes like the one Honda uses for their optional Honda aux lights I suppose. Not sure how available it would be.
whats your helmet boss ?
Airoh Commander
Mate I watched the part where you remove the In&box several times now - how do you do it? I can’t get mine out and am afraid to break something if I use more force, is there a trick?
It's not a great design. Fairly poorly designed considering the price you pay for it. I tend to push down on it a slight bit and then slide it out.
Друг, спасибо большое за это видео!!!! Очень пригодилось👍🏻. Пью пиво за Ваше здоровье 🥃
Спасибо - Thank you.
Well done mate. Loose rocks like that give me a hard time on the mountainbike as well. You seem to bounce well. Not bad for an old fella. Keep it up bud.
Hello Martin, Thanks for sharing, lots of fun on the DR 400; Well done and I am glad you are not hurt! David...Adelaide...Triumph Scrambler 1200X.....
You're a lot gamer then I'll ever be. That's why I getting a side car and a bash plate fitted to my bike so that I can go exploring places like this without having to worry about dropping the bike. I'll be able to throw all my camping gear, food, water and spare fuel in the chair and away I go.
