We are almost living parallel lives here! Many familiar sights on your videos. The road through Mylor so familiar to me, having lived in Adelaide for a long time, before moving down to the Lower Lakes, which was previously our weekender. I actually got booked by a static speed camera they used to set up just south of Mylor, where you went through at the start of your video: all brought about by a couple of knobs in cars. I also have a white Transalp, with the same B&B bashplate. Our bikes look like twins! The plate quite well made, but a little heavy for my liking, and I intend lightening both it, and the exceedingly heavy 1/4" mild steel brackets. About 6,500 kms in, and enjoying the Honda, in spite of 50 years of Ducati obsession, and many adventure miles on my old (air-cooled, Ducati-powered) Cagiva Elefant 750. The Honda a lot bigger, taller and heavier than that (modified/lightened) bike, but a much faster machine, with more horsepower and six gears, and more brakes, suspension travel, 21" wheel etc. compared to the 28-year-old Elefant. I made a lighter (and more practical) rear rack, as the stock one weighs so much (over 7 lbs) and got the Rally footpegs and plastic wind deflectors 'thrown in' with mine, being (I think) the first purchaser in SA, and not really wanting a quickshifter. Not the first to get on one, as the white ones involved a wait, as you would know. Moto Adelaide very fair with my purchase. (You appear to have bought yours out at Murray Bridge)? I actually know a couple of the ex-proprietors of that business. I also found that reversing the handlebar risers made the steering 'feel' much better, plus rolling the 'bars forward a little. More natural steering, and better standing up. The Rally footrests much wider, slightly lower, and better support when standing, but yes - I wouldn't have wanted to pay retail for those, nor the wind deflectors... The wind deflectors DO work, if subtly, although it's been a bit windy lately to get a clear measure as to how much. I didn't have them for my recent trip to Victoria, which was windy in places, so any improvement welcome. I fitted Pirelli STR tyres recently (after the stock rear was pretty worn out at 5,000 kms) which seemed to me to reflect the ratio of dirt/bitumen I actually do (perhaps 25% dirt, with many dirt roads down here to explore). I find them pretty good, if a bit dear for tyres made in Brazil (all tyre prices have gone up in the last few years here) but they are definitely better on loose surfaces than the original Dunlop Trailmaxes (although they were surprisingly not too bad). I have long been a fan of Pirellis from my many road miles over 61 years of riding. I ran a Motoz rear on the Elefant, and although it wasn't bad, I found it lacked grip on bitumen as it wore down, whereas historically I have generally found Pirellis to still grip right to the end. I too have the 12V socket on order, but after waiting four months(?) for the other accessories, I am not 'holding my breath' for that! I too will need to create a mount for my (small) Garmin Zumo. Thanks for sharing your insights. I see from your Tenere travels that you have done a lot of dirt miles in this vicinity - perhaps we will catch up sometime to compare notes, even though I am a 70-year-old poor old thing... Coffee at Hammer and Tongs in Strathalbyn on Sun morning our regular catch-up, if you're in the area. 😊

Just a quick correction on the Pirelli STR tyres. Whereas I had heard (from a European source) that they were made in Brazil, I just checked them, and the front one is made in Indonesia, and the rear one is made in... China! Whatever happened to Pirelli of Italy? I guess the northern and southern hemispheres get them from different factories. Makes you wonder why they cost over $600 though (inc. F & B). I then checked the tyres on my other registered bikes, to find that the Heidenaus on the Elefant ARE made in Germany, as they always were, but the Pirellis on my Ducati were made in... Germany also! I guess the Pirellis from China, Indonesia (and Brazil) avoid the need to traverse the Suez on their way here at least, with that passage becoming tricky again. I knew Pirelli and Metzeler were 'sharing' manufacturing, but Pirelli of China, and Indonesia, were new to me.

Have you noticed handlebar vibes after mounting the barkbusters? Added the extra weights from them to see if it helps. But i did notice something after mounting them. So ill see if they are staying or leaving the bike after the snow melts and i have put the bike back together from the suspension mods i am curently doing and tire change. My original tires lasted 9k km. And i dont ride fast. Just tons of Norwegian twistys.

Hi, thank you for your comment. I have no vibration in the handlebars other than the normal that you would expect, this will change when I change the tyres. Being in Australia I have now idea what it would be like to have to prepare a bike for winter storage. Enjoy.

I went for a ride tonight which included backs roads all sealed and an expressway riding at 100kph, no vibration at all.

Hi from Canada. Enjoy your vids. You indicated the plastic tail box is quick to take off... how exactly did you attach that? Just drill and bolted to the stock tail rack, or something more complicated than that?

That's great. You will love the bike. I am doing a 3000 kilometer ride on mine soon from South Australia to Tour Tasmania Australia. I am now working on ways to make the seat more comfortable for longer rides.

Headlight protection? Going with Plastic or Metal type?

Plastic, I find that most of the metals protectors have large open spaces allowing smaller rocks to hit the lense and this tends to leave divots on the glass/perspex.
