Well done with this. I 'did the experiment' to check mine, early on, and also achieved almost 400 kms without running out. But I had filled my tank above the baffle plate. The main thing to know is that there are 3.7L left (according to the owners manual) when the last bar starts flashing, so we have 75 - 80 kms left at that point. But the economy of this model is quite amazing. About to reach 10,000 kms on mine, with an average consumption of 4.1/100 kms, but have had a second 'go' of the average consumption reading losing its mind. It jumps up to 299.9L/100, then gradually works its way down... This has happened around the 4,600 kms mark each time. Not a biggie, but a bit disappointing, when I didn't really want all this electronic 'cleverness'! I just leave mine in Sport, and don't bother with trip distances - I just remember when I filled it up. Call me old-fashioned. Also in rural South Australia, and enjoying this bike more than I expected to. Good to see some local content on here!

Thanks mate. I am the same old school most of the time. I tend to judge on the K's rather than the gauge. That's probably why I also have a DRZ400. To be honest I have also had a T7 but the old KLR and the DRZ rate more highly with me than the modern bikes.

Well done, thanks a bunch. Your results mirror mine pretty well. I had between 3,6 and 4,5 l/100kms depending on speed. I think the TA has very decent fuel consumption also because of its long geared secondary transmission. Ride safe!

Now that was time not wasted! I’ve got a new Transalp and was waiting until it was broken in until I ran it dry for range. Very good video, thank you.

Cheers. Great video. I got a bit caught out at 215 miles and I had serious range anxiety and managed to divert for fuel at about 220 miles. I was very relieved but clearly I had a bit more available. The bike telling me how many miles that I had done on reserve rather than what was left wasn’t very helpful.

Thank you, I surely did have some anxiety even though I did have the spare fuel with me. I was more concerned that it might not easily start after running out of fuel.

Very interesting. I've got an 82 Honda VF 750 Magna which hold 13 litres. I get about 270 kms out of a tank. It's always great to see other Adelaide riders on here.

@@HardPackedADV I'm subscribed to this page. I think ,if I remember rightly, I saw your KZread page recommended in the Adelaide Motorbike Riders group so I joined it. I don't have an adventure bike yet but I'm getting a sidecar fitted to the Honda Magna so that I can go bush.

As I live in South Australia the weather is mainly dry and I tend not to ride when it's wet, all in all I have not really had too many issues with them in the wet. I find that with just about any tyre there is always some sort of issue. I might change to another brand next.

Riding at those same speeds, mine only uses 3.5 litres per 100. Getting up it, I still haven't been able to make it use more than 3.8 litres per 100. I weigh 80kgs and run a top box. Even the last ride where I did a stack of 1st to 3rd gear stuff, with lots of snotty hill climbs full of ruts and erosion mounds, it only used 3.8/100..... And that's running it in full power mode.

That's awesome fuel consumption. The first half of my ride was through the City of Adelaide and then about 2 hours in the hills on winding roads with a fair bit of head wind. The last half tended to be open roads. The best I have had from mine is 3.8l per 100. I am off to Tasmania soon so it will be interesting to see what economy that I get on that trip, but the bike will be loaded.
