    This was so helpful, thank you! I prefer side view ranchus, especially the beautiful symmetrical round back of the Chinese ranchus.

    This is very interesting. Thank you for sharing this wonderful and helpful information. It makes sense that temperature affects wen and body growth. I was wondering what I was doing wrong. When Bought my ranchu, they had very defined wen growth. A month or so later, it is now summer and their tank reached 80 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. They have gotten wider and rounder body shape. But their wens seem to have disappeared?! Hopefully their wen will come back once the weather cools now. How low can the temperature dip? Thank you. I am so happy I found your channel😊

    This aqarium hoby is so strange. This was the first time i saw a planted tank without any plants that consume fish waste. I dont get it.. Why keep green water and not able to see the fish.. What is the diffrence between a planted tank that ALSO clean the water there you see them amd the fish OR a green water that just do the same but you dont see the butiful creatures.. Is it that plants grow and need trimming and that takes time to manage.. Yes, i have ciclid tank with a lot of plants and I need to throw away alot of plants each month.. But no need to water change when plants consume all waste frim the fishes. Plus it stimulate their behavuior with diging and making a pit in the gravel and so much more stimula for them. In practice you do exactly the same but your plants is tiny green alge floating in the water column instead. Maybe that is the hobby and not the fishes. Just like in a planted tank the green plants is the intresting part. The fish is just secondary. 😂 Like the aquarium at the botom right. You said it is "little bit crowded".. If you feel and think that way and say it is X gallon.. No it is only half full it is X/2 gallon and it could be half the crowded if you removed the air X/2 gallons of air?😅 I saw the great video from you how to grow green carpet. With flow chart and evrything! A great video. Were intrested in the green walls as it is usefull as food in a shrimp only tank. But that is cool with the aquarium hoby that we can do whatever we like..😅😅❤

    I'm surprised your goldfish didn't try to chew the algae as snack. Mine do and thus my green carpet is a bit patchy :D Thanks for the theory though. I have been keeping the green algae carpet for 1 month now but just blindly followed instructions without actually understanding the theory behind it. Keep it up!

    it is so refreshing to be presented such a thorough and fascinating history of these fish. their historical and cultural significance are a massive part of my appreciation of them and it adds even more depth to the already engrossing joy of keeping them. during my research online while getting into the hobby, I was very surprised to the relatively low interest in fancy goldfishes cultural history. im probably mistaken about that, but your videos are exactly what Ive been looking for. your work is greatly appreciated :)

    This is a great video, thanks for posting it! Forgive my ignorance, but is the implication that forward-facing-eyed goldfish are "extinct"?

  • @spice7620
    @spice76203 ай бұрын

    I think they're extinct in the sense that the trait was bred out of telescope eye goldfish in the years between now and then. its much less common and is not standard, but it could theoretically be bred back into prominence if the desire amongst breeders were there
