You rock, thanks again for making this and the past few videos as well. Random ideas for future videos i would be interested in hearing your thoughts on: Diet, grooming(including effect of water depth),"breeding strategies", crossbreeding experiments

Goldfish corner, can you help me? I have frys that are butterfly telescopes but without dorsal fin. They see to have pretty wide back too and the mother was a lionchu (father was a butterfly black moor). I am groing them out to see how they will look, they are butterfly tail telescopes without dorsal. How do we call that? I see on internet "Dragon back" but these don't have butterfly tail. I also see deme-ranchu, but mine may not have a wen. I also see deme-ranchu term is used for celestials. Also, my stock comes from telescope eyes, and not dragon eyes. What do you think I should call these specimens? The best I can come up with is butterfly deme-ranchu, but I am not sure. I don't know if they will be good swimmers and balance fish but I have six of those and excited to see how they will look when adult. Cheers! I guess in the mean time I should just call them experimental fish

It is probably a mutant. In order to become a new breed, you need to see if a certain percentage of offsprings has the same attribute. Your study is correct, basically Ranchu + telescope = dragon-back. Butterfly tail tends to have better stabilization. As long as it can survive, it should have swimming issue. Good luck. Thank you for the positive feedback

@@GoldfishCorner thank you, you have a good point, it could be several years before this could be an actual line of goldfish, and for now they are anomaly in my group. The lionchu-butterfly telescope pair was an accidental spawn, but almost all the fish worth keeping in that spawn looked like father (butterfly telescope)

Daniel Gallant dorsalless is an recessive 🧬. You need at least two crossbreedings. Crossbreeding that fish with normal butterflies. Then your f1 should be all dorsal fin. Then crossbreed among your f1. You may get some dorsalless

@@GoldfishCorner Hi how are you, Daniel Gallant here log in with my other account. here is a link to video of the best two of the 5 interresting frys "butterfly dragon back" appearance: kzread.info/dash/bejne/doGu3NOsnbyunKw.html . In another spawn of fish I recently kulled, I think I have two more of these (of same parents), bringing the number to 7. Not all have butterfly tail however. I am wondering what you think of them, tail is imperfect (fused) but maybe that can be fix over next generations. update: it may be hard to see clearly on video, here is a link to an image: facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=3737673932944660&set=p.3737673932944660&type=3

@@GoldfishCorner Wow if dorsalless is a recessive, I heard that in butterfly telescope, many of the traits are recessive too and that for example, there is far fewer kulls in their offspring ( i don'T know if its true)... all this seems to suggest that it could be easy to over time obtain a breed of these @butterfly dragon back@, as a purified line. am I thinking the right way ? If I see a fish with the recessive traits, then it is homozygot for all the allelles of that trait? I am just not sure given that goldfish is tetraploid.
