It's hilarious how Gamefreak approaches this franchise with such scorched earth policy -oh people didn't like the ice cream Pokémon? The entirety of Black and white were bad let's never do something like that again -kids nowadays like mobile games? Rotom phone in every game and flood the market with gacha style mobile games

Its crazy because this came out when i was in college and everybody loved the first gen 5 games, but then we didnt seem to care about the sequal, whoch i may chalk up to bad marketing. But tounger fans love 2 and have the first balc and white. Which makes me think it's really the younger generation that was vocal about hating black and white. And given what came after has gotten a lot more hate from everyone in the fan base by comparison, i assume that its their opinions have changed as they got older.

I would say the ugliness of the starters was the main turnoff. Then on top of that the games were just about making things 'more extreme' and 'more powerful'. Pokemon that made the Earth and the Water not good enough? Let's make one that controls the entire universe that you can catch! (Unfortunately we just power-scaled to a degree that you can't really beat anymore). The Pokemon started looking ugly like the next item on your desk with eyeballs. I think the issue might have not been innovation, but ignoring older innovations like apricots, or creating new innovations that had little meaning (The secret bases in Gen III were a nice gimmick, but not very useful for anything. Yet useful innovations from Gen II were made to basically never exist). Too many gimmicks that do absolutely nothing, also they've gotten way too easy. Like where's the challenge now that you can just re-use a TM over an over again like an HM? Too easy. Why do you start with so much money and don't have to work yourself up? Etc etc

I personally loved every aspect if the game. Most certainly the fact, that NOT 90% of the pokemons are fr9k previous gen, but no, AN WHOLE NEW DEX OF Pokemons. That's Sick!! Finally a new region, with new pokemons, and just new pokemons (post game you could get pokemons from other regions). And honestly, i would say your exaggerating, with that the 'startes' pokemons , every one of them, and their evolutions, are really ulgy/terrible. I honestly like everyone of them. And yeah, there's always some that are bad, ugly, but its exaggerated to say that they did 'wring with most if the things. But again, its just your/y'alls opinion on it, and that's my opinion on it.

I grew out the Pokémon game right on time. Went from Diamond to Platinum to Soul silver. Never had to go through the black and white pain 🤣

I really like Samurotts and Serperiors designs. They both look really elegant and cool imo. I agree with you on Emboar though.

Here’s the thing… Unova.. The games were immaculate … the story was awesome… the cities were super dope, the gyms were some of, if not, these are the absolute best designs ever… Black and White was excellent, Black and White 2 was fun too, But, the starters suck… undeniably they suck. The worst starter lineup ever… also, I think that the games get a bad rep due to the fact that it doesn’t help that the TV show was atrocious

Gen 5 was my first pokemon gen, and even now its my favourite. The sv dlc and especially the epilogue have given it a bit of competetion (what with Carmine being uh... the word for a female dog most of the time and Penny just out here existing), but other than that, yeah, Pokemon isnt great anymore. My first game was either black or white 2, and i made sure when i got my mum started in pokemon, she had gen 5 games to play because its an experience that shouldnt be missed

It's hilarious to me when people hate on the gen 5 starters final evolution. Serperior is easily a better designed pokemon in comparison to Venusaur and Meganium. Sceptile and Torterra are very well designed though. Emboar is a far better and more creative design then Charizard (who is just a red dragon, oh wow, so cool. And way better than Typhlosion). Designed after a Chinese war general, it looks amazing. And Samurott. Are you kidding? Easily one of the best designed pokemon. Yes it's stats are stupid, but it's design is great. Far better than a turtle with cannons. Far better than a literal blue alligator. And is very similar to the best designed water starter final evolution, Empoleon. The hate these pokemon get is insanity. It just nostalgia people have for the OGs, which I love. I grew up with Ruby, Hg, and Platinum. I loved them. But BW&BW2 are far better games period. What? Are you telling me that Muk is a good design? Or Voltorb? Or Geodude? Wtf. BWs versions of them, as stupid as they look, still look better than the Gen 1. It's truly laughable.

i remember the day when my mom got me and my brother a special edition zekram ds which came with pokemon black and white. my brother and i were eight at the time. we both loved pokemon, so we basically played that game nonstop for the whole summer. the game was extremely complicated to us so it took us a while to get all of the gym badges, but i enjoyed every second of it. i'm sure that's the best game i have ever played in my life, and the most pure enjoyment and bliss i've ever experienced. good game.

For me Gen 1 and 2 were incredible revolutionary games for its time, plus the games were really well made and fun, Gen 3 made everything Gen 2 did but better, it had the best Kanto remake of all time and one of the best and most beloved pokemon regions of all time (Emerald is also my personal favorite pokemon game, Plat is a close second (a realy, realy close second)). Gen 4 had friking pokemon Platinum that is probably the best pokemon game ever made, plus the best pokemon remake of all time, pokemon Heartgold and Soulsilver, being basicly the absolute peak of pokemon. Gen 5 is also an incredible gen, not as good as 4 or 3 imo but I can see why some people may prefer it, probably the best story in a pokemon game, or Gen 5 has the best or Gen 4, decide yo selves. Gen 6 is the most underrated gen of pokemon's history, I absolutly love Oras being a close second for the best pokemon remake, only loses to HgSs for me, plus the X & Y games are overhated, they are realy good the worst part about them is the fact we dont have a pokemon Z to close the plot holes that game sadly had. Starting from Gen 7 I just stoped liking pokemon, I went hyped to the games but came out just completly bored of it in 1 hour of gameplay, I even tried the sequels to them but I just couldnt, was still the same bullcrap, I wanted to like Gen 7, but I did not suceed, although the Ultra Beasts are realy cool. Gen 8 was better then Gen 7 but still bad, has the worst legendary trio of any pokemon game imo and I dont like the gameplay, but I do have to say, that sheep pokemon is realy cool, definetly one of the pokemon of all time, plus I realy like the inicial pokemon. Gen 9 is, good? It does not come close to Gen 6 or lower but, I liked the open world and inicials, its biggest problem is realy the hour long introdution and the bug fest that game is, overhaul still MILES ahead Gen 7 and 8. So yeah, I love every game till Gen 6 and I wanted to like every game after Gen 7, but Legends arceus is realy cool and fun gotta say that.
