so many wonderful vids. i remember buying it on release in 2015 but i actually never did play it cause my pc couldn't run it that well sadly. till last year, 2021, when i upgraded, fallout 4 (and minecraft lol) were two of the first games i played on my fancy new pc. i remember all the backlash f4 got on release, and while i agree with some of it, i disagree with SO much of the f4 hate, at least in the past. as someone whose first experience with f4 was in 2021, i can say its aged wonderfully. while fnv is probably still my favorite, similar to how morrowind is my favorite elder scrolls game, both f4 and skyrim share two things that are really important, i think. they are 1) easily moddable should you want/enjoy it, more so than the older games. and 2) have a lot of modern QoL that you dont necessarily have to mod for, which i think is the biggest reasons these games age so gracefully and specifically are replayed more often than the older (and arguably more beloved) games in the series. other important factors for me personally include: sound design, which both games do wonderfully as well as replayability, which again, both games do wonderfully. anyways i have about 277 hrs in fallout 4, vanilla. i have yet to touch the dlc's, as i only recently upgraded to goty f4 during a steam summer sale. the fact im even capable of getting that many hours into a completely unmodded game without touching dlc is quite insane by todays standards. anyways whenever i do eventually pick it back up again, i plan to finish my first playthru fully by doing the dlcs. i imagine itll probably be around 300 hrs, but most likely more since i enjoy settlement building quite a bit. edit: before i really dive in i just wanna list some of my favorite things and see how many overlap: exploration being rewarding, fun, and satisfying to your curiosity. companions for the most part are really good. gunplay feels nice. settlements are incredible. graphics are top tier for the time, specifically the lighting. location based storytelling is super underrated and i appreciate how well it was done in f4. one of my favorite takes on f4 still to this day is: "Fallout 4 is my favorite Fallout solely because if I get bored doing quests I can build little houses and dress up little guys for 4 more hours but if I play Fallout 3 or New Vegas and get bored I have to close that game and open the Sims to do that" also i wrote this last year during my playthru: "my goal with settlements is always try to make it blend into the world as best i can while also being as efficient as i can? like for me they not only need to all feel like settlements, but each needs to have something that sets it apart from all the rest, ya know? in addition to producing enough water/food/def (which i usually have excess of at some point.) i really love the building.. ez xp too." furthermore, since i had all my settlements so built up, i RARELY got the minuteman radiant missions everyone hates so very much, which honestly just tells me they didnt try to improve like, any settlements. anywho, thanks for the vid.

I really wanted to like settlement building but it just felt useless. There weren't much benefits to making a settlement happy. Also building is really clunky and pieces just decide to not connect to each other.

I played every fallout game and enjoyed all of them.... Only one who are complaining about fo4 are fallout NV players(fans of obsedian) I mean they have outer worlds(way shorter and way smaller) go play that then problem solved

I always enjoyed the settlement building part the most. Only the lack of materials was infuriating. Mods always make games better and even garbage ones decent (looking at you Diablo II, which was sh*t by itself).

gonna be honest I feel like..people overreact with Fallout 4, I've been replaying it for a while and all in all, despite the massive flaws in its story telling, it'd be worse if the world itself was boring as fuck So uhh..in short, fallout 4 decent, video great, me agree with everything you said in video :]
