One year later, 2.6 thousand views, and one extra subscriber for Cassidy Hunt. One of the most underrated on KZread right now.

Sorry for leaving for a while but unlike your Dad who left for milk, i have returned. I took time off to really think about why I'm doing this and what I want to make and this is what I came up with. So yeah this is more along the lines of the kind of content I want to make from here on out. This is the first video in months that I've actually been excited to put out. I hope you enjoy and maybe learn something or just laugh at my dumb jokes. Anyway thank you for watching I genuinely can’t thank you enough, It means more to me than you can ever imagine.

Pokemon's DS era is like if a dude in a wheelchair suddenly got his legs back and started to do flips n shit just to show off and appreciate their ability to move fully again And Pokemon recently is like that same guy getting lazy and eating a bunch of burgers because they don't care anymore

Pokemon gen 5 and before will always be my favourite video game music.

I know I might be late in the game (2 years late) but the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky soundtrack is godly. It has a vibe similar to "DP" and is some of the most incredible music in Pokemon's legacy! DEF check it out.

Man, I agree with ALMOST every point, but I bought Pearl because I didn't want to buy the version with a Pokémon made out of clock hands... The music for these games has shaped me growing up and you're so right that there's this unique quality to the soundtrack that got lost in the later games with more capable hardware. Though I would like to field the Team Flare theme as being WAY out of the league of any of the other Gen VI music. That track SLAPS.

hot take: Gen 3 and 4 music > Gen 5 music

Thank you, this video got to me in a way I can’t really articulate. You get how I feel though. We’ll never get those days back- I feel like it’s healthy to be in touch with your inner child. And I find taking some quiet days to regress and play some games that you associate with your childhood and innocence is really good for you. not that you should shrug your adult responsibilities all the time, as that would be unhealthy.

Lake theme did the same to me, I have few memories mental illness got me fucked up But that cozy feeling remains, I have platinum on my ds again a cheap rip I bought, but my original copy was on ds download so yknow, same deal. And I was playing through after sword and shield, which I quit because fuck that game, and I was enjoying the nostalgia of the graphics, I have been a slut for pixel art forever, the noises of the menu it was all nice... and then I hit the lake theme, and I just stopped playing, leaving my ds to play that music over and over. I never beat platinum, I didnt beat a lot of games I wasnt really good at them, but I didn't need to be I was making my own stories doing my own thing, I played platinum forever but never got past victory road, trying to brute force with infernape who had two hms on him cause I didnt even consider the idea of hm slaves, I just thought J will always have this guy so I will give him the things I need to get around, and he still one shot everything with mach punch and shadow claw another game I played for hours was dementium the ward, I never made it out of the tutorial, I quit at the first combat encounter which if you play now takes five minutes to get to, I was so immersed in that world it took me hours of wandering this one hallway at 10pm under the covers over a few days, to finally progress out of the first door. I had similar nostalgia for that music but nothing like lake theme and yet just a little while later, maybe a few years, I almost beat megaman green boi, getting stuck on an obtuse puzzle right at the end that I figured out when I went back a year ago, i just needed to flip a switch I think back then maybe I was better at games because I was worse, I wasnt planning ahead, I just did whatever I wanted, and I played games wrong, but I loved it and now I am good at games but I am stressed out by them, planning ahead and worried I will fuck up, a mixture of mental illness getting worse and modern gaming being designed to make you scared of missing out I'd bet. but I barely remember so maybe I was always like this and I just did stupid shit like an idiot child that felt like creativity compared to me trying to be methodical and not screw myself, by putting hms on my best pokemon

You're forgetting that MYSTERY DUNEGON HAPPENED. The first world's OST has the fucking best soundfont imaginable. It's got this chunky bass to it, that I NEED TO RIP, AND REPLICATE. I WANT THAT.

still to this day think gen 4 is why sound design is SUCH an important element to gaming for me. it really was iconic even if i didnt realize WHY when i was younger. and most importantly, it was never forced. one of my biggest turn offs sound design wise is when you feel forced into an emotion instead of it just happening organically. suspense and horror games specifically are AWFUL about it. edit: if i had to explain it differently, its like the difference between getting lost/immersed in a game, and then playing a game and always being hyper aware you are playing a game. ive been replaying a lot of gen 1 - 4 lately, cause im working on a living dex in soul silver. super glad you popped up in my recs, your content is lovely.

I was worried at first that you were attributing the entire soundtrack to Masuda, when the majority of the area and event themes were done by Ichinose and Sato. Masuda did somewhere around 10 songs in the game, which is a paltry number compared to the contributions by Ichinose and Sato
