    Thanks for the very clear instructions. This morning outside pane of my window broke millions of pieces with no any reason (I guess the glass is imperfect as this is a new house closing 15 months ago). May I ask if I can live with the single inside pane for a while before replacing or I have to call an emergency for a repair? Thank you in advance.

  • @roadglassandmore9064

    Yes, you can absolutely live with one pane of glass, the only thing you might eventually see is the metal spacer between 2 panes start to rust after rainy season ( not all but some manufacturers use metal) , but that is also not a big concern. I’m assuming the glass was tempered ( heat treated) next to a door or in the bathroom? I see tempered glass break sometimes mostly in a summer time , because of different temperatures inside being cool and outside hot.

    Thank you very much for the help. Yes, the glass is tempered ideally for Florida summer heat. There was a guy offering $450 for all. I saw online dual tempered glass for this size $225. After seeing your video I would like to give it a try myself. With the heat wave, I hope the single pane last enough certain of time.

    Would you check my thoughts on my odd repair? Have you seen a sash where the trim is blocked by the other sash? I have the glass ready (it was under warranty) and ordered the tape. But the top trim of the bottom sash (that moves up and down but doesn't tilt... It's impact glass) is blocked by the upper stationary sash. I have to replace both anyway, so I'm planning to take top glass out, then carefully slide lower sash up to get the trim and glass out. Replace lower glass, slide up and down to get trim in and then replace the upper stationary window. Does that sound like a decent plan?

  • @roadglassandmore9064

    Excellent video. Thanks. If I want to have the glass replaced on a 6’x6’ dual pane picture window (Milgard) and the house (on a hill) has settled a little so when I remove the frame molding, I can see the frame top has shifted a little to the left. Basically I see gaps between the glass and frame on certain edges of the but other edges the glass is right against the frame. It’s like the frame shifted a 1/2” to the left at the top. If ordering a new glass unit should I just go with the exact same size or will it possibly not fit? I don’t want to have the glass removed and then it can’t fit back in. Thanks.

    Take the measurements in 3 spots left side , middle and right side, and go with the smallest measurement ( remove glazing/snap bead this way you can see exactly where you are measuring to and where the existing glass seats )

  • @wstt4

    @@roadglassandmore9064 thank you. When you say measure in three spots do you mean measure the existing glass in the 3 spots or measure the window framing it goes in, in 3 spots?

    How did you know it was the gears and not the thermostat.

  • @roadglassandmore9064
    @roadglassandmore90642 ай бұрын

    It overheated almost instantly even when idling . Bad thermostat would take longer to overheat because little bit of coolant still flows through little bypass hole before it opens up, when gears break there is no coolant flow at all and engine will get hot within almost instantly.

    The problem I’m having is cutting the seal on the inside of the window. In your video, your knife goes through it like butter. My windows seem to be cemented in with some kind of hard epoxy that I simply cannot cut through. My next step is to try a heat gun to soften the seal, but really challenging. Any tips?

  • @roadglassandmore9064

    Hey, thanks for this video. I am trying to follow your instructions, got all the way till opening the frame. But the roller wouldnt just come off. I dont see anything screwed for the roller to my door frame. Is it possible this is jammed as its a really old door? Is there any possible hack to release the rollers? Thank you

  • @roadglassandmore9064
    @roadglassandmore90642 ай бұрын

    Does the long corner screw screws into the frame? Or into the roller itself? If it’s screws into the roller ( there is threaded hole , usually on top ) if it does screw into the roller than the bottom rail needs to come off and you will see small screw through the rail holding the wheel. I screw screws into the frame than the wheel should come out may be use pliers, just be careful with the edge of the glass
