    do you think it is the same problem in your clip ?

    If the coolant level doesn’t get lower then it’s most likely the water pump or water pump gear.

    Thanks bro, I think that's the problem I'm dealing with... I'm also loosing water to the overflow...

    The impeller is a bit loose on the shaft. If you spin the clutch you could hold the Finns

    My can am is overheating as well, how did you know it was the water pump gears ? is there a way to diagnose or do you visually have to check gears

    I didn’t know for sure , but usually those plastic gears are the main cause for overheating. But I have seen a head gasket issues too. Take water pump cover off and try spinning it , it should have a lot of resistance! If spins are easy than the plastic gears are stripped.

    Did you lock the crankshaft?

    Was that large gasket new? Or reused? If new do you have the part number for it?

    Was yours leaking coolant out of the weep hole real bad

  • @roadglassandmore9064

    @roadglassandmore9064

    No, it never leaked out weep hole, even when gears broke. But after I recently had to replace cover and put new water pump seal in it started to leak from weep hole bad, put another water pump seal in and it still leaked only when driving, did the 3rd seal and bow only couple of small drops so far. Your water pump seal needs to be replaced for sure to fix the week hole leak unfortunately. It’s not too bad of a job just pain in a butt digging/pulling old seal out.

    I took mine apart due too overheating issue I followed your steps but when installed everything back together I noticed oil mixing in with coolant in the reservoir it started changing to a dark color . By a chance do you know why is oil mixing in with coolant?

    Did you get a new gasket? The only way oil is getting into coolant is through the gasket.

    How did you know it was the gears and not the thermostat.

  • @roadglassandmore9064

    @roadglassandmore9064

    2 ай бұрын

    It overheated almost instantly even when idling . Bad thermostat would take longer to overheat because little bit of coolant still flows through little bypass hole before it opens up, when gears break there is no coolant flow at all and engine will get hot within almost instantly.

    Did it feel weird putting to magneto back on the crank key? It feels weird for me. Am I supposed to just use the bolt to suck it onto the crank?

  • @roadglassandmore9064

    @roadglassandmore9064

    It did feel weird , probably mostly because of a magnet pulling it in . And yes, just use the bolt to tighten in back .
