@KeepItDirtyOffRoad yeah you can get the LZ0 3.0L Duramax in 1500 GM trucks. I have the older LM2 on my 21 AT4, and it's an amazing engine offroad with an amazing range per tank and a ton of torque. Don't plan on going back to a V8 gasser as long as this is an option.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad10 күн бұрын
Really? Going to have to try it out. Diesel engines aren’t known for their pep. How’s the power band? Do you really need to get on it to get it going? Or is it peppy like the 6.2?
@automotiveandmore10 күн бұрын
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad you should really check one out. It doesn't rev as high as the 6.2 so it feels different. It can do the same at lower RPM and the 10 speed does magic with that engine. The turbo diesel has a lil bit more get up and go than the 6.2 at lower RPM but the 6.2 feels more responsive at higher RPM. Now with tuning and even larger turbo, there is no question that the little Duramax blows the 6.2L out of the water. I do some of the high speed dirt roads here and my truck cruises so effortlessly compared to a gas engine at the same speed where it feels like it's screaming all the time. It is a very different driving experience.
Is there anything different between gen 1 and gen 2 install?
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad10 күн бұрын

Interesting their incorporation of a steering damper on an IFS platform. Their solution to bump steer from a suspension geometry that couldn’t be optimized without cutting into profit margins?
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad15 күн бұрын
They way they explained it was the steering rack is not optimized for offroad use like the raptor one is. Being eletronic, they tried to adjust its programming to better deal with offroad feedback and they bricked the whole system. They said so on the video. We will talk about the steering in the next video. Because IMO it still needs some work and the slow ok footage shows it

Hey just saw the vid. I have a 24’ 35p raptor with eibach pro lift kit on 37’s. Can you re-valve the shocks or are there no options to prevent the added wear and tear with after market springs
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad16 күн бұрын
There is not much you can do to prevent the extra wear but you can do things to prevent the damage that may come with that upper joint fails. So first off, the extra height will always cause CV axle boots to fail prematurely. Only way to increase their life is to reduce the preload which equals getting rid of those springs. For the failure of the top hat, make sure you get limit straps if you plan to offroad. That way you can prevent the shock of bottoming out and if it fails, everything stays in tact. And then for extreme situations, reinforce the top of the shock bucket. We covered all this in the video
@Mursedave16 күн бұрын
It’s crazy that this is the real only OEM type truck for GM fans. Just buy a Gen1 Raptor and build it or buy a TRX or Raptor R and you’ll be extremely happy. This just seems so extra.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad16 күн бұрын
Yeah it does suck. Because the only true off-roader from GM is the Colorado ZR2 bison. But the current gen only has a Turbo4. I wish this was more affordable or that they release all of these components as a kit so that we can build these in our driveways. Everything is bolt on so no reason why we could not build this
@ConcreteButcher16 күн бұрын
I don’t know. A lot of hate in the comments but buying a 65/75k truck then buying 40k in parts(glass, bumpers, live valve fox shocks, billet links, bumps, slappers arms, LCA and UCA, gusseted/ double sheared, cross over brace, supercharger, electronics, lights) then having all the labor, paint, shock tuning, engine tuning all done for you. And looks factory no gaps, no empty spaces. Might not be $200k but it’s not far off. Just finance and go have fun. I like it. I wish I was part of that middle class to afford it.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad16 күн бұрын
There is a lot to like here. The main thing that sucks is the price. I think this is a $120-140k build max with everything at low production numbers like they are doing here. And it’s basically on par with a Raptor R, BUT with a peppier engine. That 6.2 is awesome and power on demand was crazy. But the biggest thing I hated, was nothing that Fox did. Build quality of the GM truck is nowhere near as good as Ford. The door rattling on the ride along was crazy and very loud.
@Anthony-bg2pe16 күн бұрын
So Fox bought Baja Kits from Brenthel and now they built a few trucks with fully bolt on kits. These are a rolling advertisement for the Kits Baja Kits/Fox will have out for the Silverado. Why else would they try and make a fully bolt on kit seem better than welding/custom framing? Just my guess.

After two Raptors (2014/2017) and 22' TRX (paid $81k/factory ordered/price locked in Fall 21' (MSRP was $93,400) had to imagine the "Value" without any Manufacturer 'lineage'/years of history in this niche segment (like the 40% stronger frame on the TRX vs. REBEL). For example if Ford (or hopefully RAM revitalizing the TRX namesake) built a true HALO low production vehicle ($150k-ish). <- Wider flares, 39's on optional beadlock wheels, modular and popular usability upgrades for the bumpers, bed cage and interior (that can trickle down/be fitted to the TTV6/R), etc. Similar to AEV (even SHELBY) - they could offer the ability to 'factory' retrofit an existing customer vehicle for greater future value and resulting KBB reference (ie: an AEV conversion vs. personally adding AEV parts) <- I had contemplated both these scenarios with our 21' CTD2500. Shipping it to AEV made more sense vs. a AEV build 'replica'. Unfortunately at the price point I just see it as another future Barrett-Jackson offering alike their past FOX H2 editions (I believe they were to be built alongside SMA Hummer accessories?). Side note: FOX have acquired Shock Therapy (UTV suspension 'gurus') and doing turn-key Polaris builds under the UPFIT brand (circa $75k production builds)....sold on dealership floors with their own KBB designation/available financing. The $30k 'gap' is reasonable considering many enthusiasts spending (near) similar (customcage/wrap/wheels+tires/seat package/intercom/fresh air system/ICE/etc)...and the quality of these units/installs is very impressive in person. Admire the efforts but many have tried to offer low production GM/Chevrolet offroad builds (PaxPower/SVP,/YENKO, etc.) with little volume success. Akin to 'Flying Car' magazine covers that never come to full fruition. Instead of having y'all there post production... would have been more interesting/potentially valuable to 'Crowd Source' such minds and suggestions PRIOR. These contributions/ support community would help propel the end results further (with more intrinsic/extrinsic value!).

Yes. The location of the mounting holes on the frame is different since the gen1 kit is wider. But that’s it. Everything else is done the same way
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad thanks for responding, your icon leaf spring video helped me a lot as well, thanks again!
What is the name of the track playing @7:25 ? really nice tune for long distance driving!🔥👍🏽
It’s been a few years since I posted this video. I’m sure you can Shazam it.
🔥💪🏽♥️
does it come with an extended range gas tank or is it stock?
Stock gas tank unfortunately.
Can you now talk about the steering issue?
Shoot me a DM and I’ll tell you all about it. But Ford still keeping an eye on the channel so I’m not going to mess with that
Just bought one any videos on the 4x4 sytem i heard driving in 4x4 at over 50mph
You can drive much faster in 4x4 on these trucks with no issues. Only thing to worry about with the 4x4 system is if you have mid travel. You can destroy CVs in 4x4 with the SVC kit and not recommended for high speed or low range. But if your stock, there are no limits
Raptor R all day everyday.. for over 200k you can build an actual pre runner
Agreed
Just broke a cv axel at pismo last month on my mid travel raptor
Did you break the CV or just tear the boot?
Broke the whole thing I heard some noise coming from it when in 4wd but was running in 2wd most the day broke it pulling out a friend from the camp ground last day of the trip
That sucks man. Whats the plan? Upgrade to RCvs or another extended set?
So you can change dry from white to amber?
You can order them with Amber DRLs but you can’t change once you got it. They have to be ordered with the DRL color you want.
Interesting their incorporation of a steering damper on an IFS platform. Their solution to bump steer from a suspension geometry that couldn’t be optimized without cutting into profit margins?
They way they explained it was the steering rack is not optimized for offroad use like the raptor one is. Being eletronic, they tried to adjust its programming to better deal with offroad feedback and they bricked the whole system. They said so on the video. We will talk about the steering in the next video. Because IMO it still needs some work and the slow ok footage shows it
Just from this video I have ideas, thoughts about the future of off road suspension, etc. Will wait for video 2 but I'm excited for the future as I prepare my gen 1 for gen 2 live valves and SDI system.
We are on the same page there. There is a ton of potential here and it’s a new level of customization than can be done on our driveways. So excited for what this can turn into.
I liked your questions. With the new compression and rebound Fix shocks on the 2024 37 package trucks those new 3.2 could be very interesting. Then add in what is basically a EClick then your talking almost a mid travel level.
Yeah. This thing takes it a step further with the position sensor on the shocks. Imagine with SDI could do with this system. Because the Fox guys figured out forward stability. But their side stability still needs some work
I went with FMI limit straps and they have performed great.
How have the headlights held up without the dust boot on the high beam? I installed rgb halos and had to do the same so because of bulky wires so I’m wondering if any water has messed your lights up
They held up well but this car is garage kept so it never would show signs of there was an issue. I later changed back to OEM headlights because I personally think they look better and had to get rid of the LEDs
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad ok, thank you!
Hey just saw the vid. I have a 24’ 35p raptor with eibach pro lift kit on 37’s. Can you re-valve the shocks or are there no options to prevent the added wear and tear with after market springs
It’s crazy that this is the real only OEM type truck for GM fans. Just buy a Gen1 Raptor and build it or buy a TRX or Raptor R and you’ll be extremely happy. This just seems so extra.
Yeah it does suck. Because the only true off-roader from GM is the Colorado ZR2 bison. But the current gen only has a Turbo4. I wish this was more affordable or that they release all of these components as a kit so that we can build these in our driveways. Everything is bolt on so no reason why we could not build this
I don’t know.
Yeah. I think that’s the goal. But they probably won’t release the kits until after the first 500 are sold out
There is only one word that describes this truck. GARBAGE.
🤣🤣 that’s pretty harsh. But I think the price is what’s makes it garbage. If it was more reasonably priced, OR the parts were offered as kits to install in our driveways, the opinion would be different.
Hard pass.
Too much use of the word "proprietary" in this presentation for me......
Just means they made a lot of it in house. Specially since Baja kits is part of Fox now
You ever sat in a tremor? I have a 23 leather and the seats hurt my ass. Looking to get a raptor.
Just curious have you looked the offroad truck that Factory Five Racing has for sale that the customer builds .
I have. Definitely some good there. But a lot of drawbacks plus a ton of time to build it. It’s not someone can do in their garage. Would love to see one on the trails too. What little footage there is on dirt is not impressive
Awesome truck, but it will be a toy for rich guys, normal people cant afford this.
Yeah. Unfortunately they will just sit in rich guys collections
lol…everything is bolt on no welding..aka buy a basic 4x4 Chevy Silverado for 60k and order this kit for 20k max and save over 120k at least lol 😂
That’s my thought exactly. Though it would be more than that in parts I think.
I like the shock technology with the phone app etc… that’s pretty cool.
Agree. Over the air updates is great and trail mapping features looked cool.
Totally agree. I get where they are going with it. Make it exclusive and make maximum profit for a short run because scaling production is very hard. I just wish GM actually built something like it at a reasonable price.
It’s a good looking truck but for the price you can get HM to build you a crazy truck that’s more capable. But at the end of the day I still think ford is miles ahead of the game compared to everyone else.
Totally agree. This team here basically got tired of waiting for GM to make one and they made their own. But GM and Mopar still have a long way to go, to match the raptor.
I honestly think this is going to be more of a collector truck than a real truck that’s going to be going off-road
I think you may be right.
For that price, meh. But, maybe this will be the start for Chevy to make a real Raptor, TRX competitor from the factory. Would be cool.
That would be cool.
It’s only 40k more than a raptor R with markup…what’s 40k nowadays after inflation 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Only thing I’m mad at is Baja Kits lol 😂 Dirt king has a crazy rear suspension setup for the chevy’s right now…and it’s got air lockers :( it’s a lot of aftermarket based parts. Chevy needs to make a true OE version of this for 100k cheaper and that might be what they do at some point ?
Rs are going for $140-150k so this is $60k more. But agree that we need GM to actually make an OEM truck to match the Raptor. But I don’t think they will. Their lame attempt was the Silverado ZR2 and that’s it. The Colorado ZR2 business is probably the closest GM will get
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 140 isn’t too bad…last one I saw for sale was a 2024 brand new for 157k with an MSRP of 112k maybe I need to look harder …
You can get them down to 30k markup is you look and negotiate. Some guys getting as low as $5k over, but they are waiting. Year or more to get it
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad I don’t mind waiting but the dealers all give me the runaround saying they don’t have allocations lol 😂 but when I’m serious I need to see if I can get the price down to 130k or less cause I need that V8 if I’m gonna do it…
Raptor R. Is all I have to say.
🤣🤣 that is the benchmark.
You would think for $200k+ that they would upgrade the rear carrier with a Dana 80 and a built L8T motor, LMAO.
🤣🤣 there is a lot that can de done for the price. Even more when you find out the vast truck is an RST.
The only thing I took away that is actually beneficial is the sealed joints so no greasing (dirt/mud state). Idk if they perform to the same standard as far as articulation and durability. But I actually appreciate it.
Brenthal brothers did say they tested quite a few to make sure they had the same flexibility as your typical heim joint in that same situation.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad I saw that. It makes me hopeful for innovation of parts across all platforms.
Agreed. Heim joints are great but they wear quick and have a short lifespan. A sealed ball joint with the same flexibility would last much longer
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad exactly. I want that concept for all of our trucks. Less maintenance means more play and more money for upgrades
These are literally just a rich dude who doesn’t want to mess with paying someone to build him something and make his own decisions on how to build it, truck. The presentation is putting me to sleep 7 minutes into this video. Lol.
One of the goals for the project was full warranty support anywhere there is a GM dealer. So even though they keep calling it a bespoke build, you are right. Everything is already figured out. To the guys that can afford that may be a good thing. Not sure. But the deep pockets there with us seemed to be impressed. I was a little perplexed.
For $200k you are talking about fully caged pre-runner with stock engine...not sure I see the value here
Agreed. Price is its major drawback.
