Is Master’s touch paint good for acrylics
Love this book. I, too, read it in the 90's and followed every step to the end. It helped me "become" the artist that I was. The Morning Pages tied in with a Journal I was already keeping, and still keep to this day. What a wonderful gift from Julia Cameron! For my artist dates, I like to take myself out to breakfast or lunch and then go on a hike or to the botanical garden. Nature plays a key role in my work so being in gardens, among plants, among wildlife, is vital.
Oh how happy it makes me to your personal experience with this book and your artist dates! Thank you for sharing! This reminds me I am due to schedule an artist date!!
Thank you! I needed to hear your words about "personal taste". I'm looking forward to trying the exercise once I've finished up some pieces. Thank you so much!
I truly hope it helps you. Happy art making to you!
Fascinating. Thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to experimenting with this.
You are so welcome. I hope the information is helpful to you.
I just found your site and I want to say thank you seeing the last previous. Videos has taught me quite a bit. Thank you for sharing. Oh and you’re in the Bay Area like me that’s awesome.
Great to hear! You are welcome!
Thank you for this!
My pleasure!

You're so pretty
Thanks so much for this. A few years ago I got a paint set from Liquitex designed for mixing, and couldn't figure out why I couldn't get a rich violet using Quinacridone Crimson and Phthalo Blue Green Shade. Gradually I figured out that the addition of the Red Shade variety did a much better job. And judging from your demo, Ultramarine Blue does, too.
Glad I could help! Interesting that they put the green shade in there. Maybe because it makes a better green? I have always lean towards the phthalo blue red shade. In fact I’ve been downright addicted to it at various times in my practice.🤣🤣🤣
Excellent demonstration! So professional. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
RE: Inner critic / judge: I fired the bee-och. Years ago. Just sharing. Blessings now.
😂😂😂👏🙌
Imagine my delight to have this show up yesterday! I looked for the last thing that showed up - it was a whole year ago! Sigh. The algorithms are off for me, it seems. I LOVE color theory/mixing/paint-smearing!!! I have never tried the Quin blue violet! Years ago, I had some purple/violets that were fugitive, so when I got some Dioxazine Purple, that's where I stopped looking! LOL! I can be such an art-supply addict that I have to restrain myself.
So great to hear from you, Kat! Hope you liked the video!
Thank you very much for your demonstration, dear Michele! Happy spring art practice! 🌸💜
Thank you! You too!
What's wrong with using dioxazine violet?
For me, absolutely nothing! In my book, no colors are off limits. For me, color is all about context. Where, how much, what is it next to?
😊
Thanks for being honest ❤
You’re welcome. thanks for watching!
Soooo needed this today!
I am soooo glad to hear this. Thank you for letting me know that it was helpful.🙏🌸
Does it work on white shirt?
All depends upon the color and the type of fabric. As I mention in the video, some pigments are staining pigments and those are had to get out even in the acrylic polymer they are dispersed in comes out with the brush cleaner.
Ty, needed to hear this today
Oh my gosh! Thank you for letting me know. I was saying over an Instagram that sometimes I feel vulnerable putting this content out. Maybe not as much on this platform but over there for some reason. It makes it feel worthwhile when I know that it’s helping someone.
You are a very sweet and great artist.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support. 🙏🌼🙏
I did my First Plein air painting in acrylic on a bright cold sunny and windy day. I worked on it at home and was shocked to see how dark it appeared. That is not brightness ,level that I had painted, so now to go back and make corrections as I work at completion. Will be getting into oils eventually, and planning to use acrylics in the under painting.
Thanks for sharing. You bring up some important things to consider in plain air painting. So when you got it home after working outdoors it sounds like you are saying it appeared darker. I’m wondering if it was not just the paint drying darker but the big difference in light from indoors to outdoors.
do you think this could work if the tacs were on a canvas?
Yes, but it takes much bigger and stronger magnets. I’m using this in my studio on a project right now the canvases are small though - about 8 x 10 in (20 x 25 cm) so not so heavy. I had to stack 2 of those size super strong magnets to get them to hold. I think the place I linked in the description sells different sizes and strengths of magnets. A heavy canvas several meters or feet long might not hold but if you try it I would love to know! My guess is a medium sized canvas 1 meter (3 feet) or less would hold with the magnets spaced every few inches around all 4 edges.
Thank you: useful!
Glad it was helpful!

Great video! I subscribed. Quick question, is the Pen you used a specific brand and type?
Thank you for your kind comment and for subscribing! To mark on the canvas board I used a Sharpie brand fine tip permanent marker. A trick I used to do when I was making lots of these types of canvas board samples for teaching is paint 1 -2 extra gesso layers on the area where I was writing with the sharpie to smooth out the texture of the canvas a bit and make writing easier and more legible.
Here’s the blending medium video I mentioned. 🎉 let me know if you have any questions about any of this! kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y5xlqtJwY6epqc4.htmlsi=kkBWMlhYLIe8DxY4

You, too! have an amazing day. And glad you liked this idea. 💗
Is it possible to paint on cotton and linen fabric, or does it have to be thick canvas? I’m just thinking of this procedure - will that work? : Paint on stretched Cotton on a frame with acrylics, and then seal it afterwards with Varnist - all over the canvas, to protect the fabric and the painting? I’m wondering if the edges that is stretched on the frame might tear or if uv light from the sun might give the unprotected fabric some miscolour over time? Thank you so much for these videos! 😀🙏
You are so welcome and thanks for watching ! It’s possible to paint on any textile that will accept acrylic paint. The paint will behave differently on different fabrics. You are thinking creatively and I believe it’s a sign to test your ideas! As far as your fabric discoloring over time from UV light, you can run some tests on fabric scraps tape them to a window and check over time compare it to a swatch that wasn’t exposed to direct light. There are varnishes with UV light inhibitors but these ingredients lose their potency over time. Best practice is to not expose your painting to direct UV light for extended periods. Think of how museums treat their paintings.
Thank you for this video - this is exactly what I was looking for. I am on a journey to try to implement raw canvas as a part of the painting, and I am trying to learn how to do that. There’s SO many gorgeous fabrics that would look stunning combined with a painting! Have you seen @victoriarosepark and @sydswisher? It’s so creative how they use that. Ive bought and just tried clear gesso - for oil paint on the canvas. But I had to cover all the canvas with paint - because that gesso was not clear at all! It dulled the fabric so much and it looked horrible (it is Amsterdam transparant gesso). So I am happy to find out that I can get that effect with acrylics that I am going for! :😀 I will subscribe and see what other good advice you have - its so nice you make videos on this🙏
You are so welcome! You might watch my video for experienced painters on how to test your mediums and things like clear gesso. Happy painting to you!

Just want to say I watched your vid on translucent painting and now this. You have given me more info in these two than the dozens of other I watched. You are an excellent teacher. Thank you.
Wow! Thanks so much for saying that. It really means a lot to me. My intent is to serve others with this channel so it’s so helpful to know when I have achieved that. You may appreciate the handout linked in my most recent video showing translucent, opaque and transparent colors. I intend to do a video at some point going more deeply into this topic as it has been so helpful in my own painting.
Somehow the Seinfeld episode with Elaine dancing comes to mind... 😁
But only in the best way!
🤣🤣🤣 Julia Louis Dreyfus is SO entertaining!
I always love watching your videos Michele! They always make me feel uplifted and excited to get back in the studio :)
Love that! Thanks for taking the time to say so!!
Wonderful video! I love your work.
Thank you very much!
You go girl!! If you don't have fun while working, you are doing something wrong!! 🤩
💃 Thank you! 💗
great vid!!! so cool,inspiring
Thanks so much!🙏💗
Can I use drops of acrylic ink in pouring medium so I can do a layered pour? I have several bottles of inks and I love doing pour painting. This seems to be a very hard question for people to answer or want to answer and I don't know why.
What exactly do you mean by drops of ink in pouring medium? Are you talking about something different than what I’m doing here?
Your scarf is lovely!
Thank you! It’s a vintage find from Etsy. I love collecting vintage silk scarves. They are so affordable and have such beautiful colors and patterns.
Im 37 and i think your very beautiful.
Thank you for the compliment! 🥰
Using a heavy body and diluting it with glaze medium: is the result similar to soft body? Does it make it more transparent?
Yes. Exactly as I explained here anytime you add a medium to a color you will dilute the ratio of pigment to binder.
Thank you! 🙏
You're so welcome!
This was SUPER helpful! Thank you so much! ❤
I'm so glad!
I needed to hear it the way you said it.
Thank you. Your comment sparked something in me. To me, it encapsulates exactly why each person’s creative output is valuable and worthy of cultivation. For, even if we think someone else has done or said it before or if we doubt our abilities your unique say of expressing through your art will not only benefit you but touch someone else in a way that not one other person can in all of time.
100 percent agree.😊
