Question: Do you have painters who inspire you?
There are so many!
Some of the artists mentioned:
Jim Hodges www.gladstonegallery.com/arti...
Amy Sillman www.gladstonegallery.com/arti...
Linda Geary www.lindageary.com/
0:14 One of my favorite artists of all time is Jim Hodges, I had to sit down after seeing one of his shows. I also was unexpectedly very moved by a Monet exhibition.
1:16 A great painting is a great painting, no matter what era it is from-it doesn't have to be contemporary.
1:26 I love Amy Sillman, Linda Geary (a local painter), there are so many. You can follow me on instagram where I share artists and work that inspire me.

I'm inspired by the English Pre-Raphaelites, especially Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Arthur Hughes, Edward Burne-Jones and while not strictly a Pre-Raphaelite, John William Waterhouse. Also love the portraits of Thomas Gainsborough especially his portrait of Elizabeth Linley Sheridan that after years of admiring them in books got to see them in person in various travelling exhibits. Each time, an incredibly emotional experience seeing the real work and practically had to be dragged away. Most recently seeing the Sheridan portrait as part of a Gainborough portrait exhibit. Among 20th Century artists, I love the work of Leon Kroll and Raphael Soyer. Among living artists, I love the work of Margo Selski and Gary Chapman (fellow college art majors who've done spectacularly well) along with artists like Adrienne Stein and Andrea Kowch. I would love to get my handling of acrylics to Kowch's level!

I saw a Monet exhibit a few years ago and really enjoyed it as well! 😊 I didn’t realize how large his paintings were! It’s kind of interesting how viewing art online doesn’t always capture the scale.

Not that I'm aware of. But probably distantly as I believe all Théberges originating from Quebec are descended from 2 brothers who emigrated from Normandy in the 1700s.
