Thank you so much for this series. It has helped motivate me to get out from under the mess in my little studio that I talked about in your first video of this series. I made some progress in one area, which helped me breathe. Then, my 4th grade niece asked for help in making her mission project. Fortunately I have lots of boxes and still have her paints here so we had plenty of materials. Of course, that made a big mess in the studio, but I was able to clean up that mess right away (meaning 2 to 3 days later). Now I have two areas straightened up! There is much organization still needed in those areas; but, I'm doing it bit by bit so as to not get so overwhelmed I simply stop. I've yet to start painting again, but cleaning up the studio feels like a good way forward toward whatever creativity awaits. Thank you, again.

Michele-- Thanks for this series! I just watched all three, so I can't really remember which videos my comment might apply to. I was so comforted to hear your struggles with organizing collage papers. I, too, include collage in my work. Sometimes I get whiny and "wish I was just a painter so I wouldn't have to keep all of these hundreds of papers organized".... but really I LOVE collage and I LOVE creating collage papers (mostly with a gel plate), so it is all worth it! Right now I have three large flat file drawers with collage papers---- each organized by color. One has various gelli printed and painted papers, one has gelli printed tree imagery on opaque paper, and the final one has gelli printed tree imagery on transparent papers. Every so often I take almost all the papers out and sort and thin them out. It's a job! And then what to do with all of those delightful small scraps leftover after a project?!?! Anyhow, thanks for all that you share and it was heartening to hear another artist's challenge with collage papers. (Oh, and your studio looks divine!!)

Lucy! Thank you so much for sharing your process. It’s very helpful to hear how you manage and organize your collage materials! I’m realizing I might have to except that I will only use a small percentage of the materials I create. But you have the advantage of having students to share them with, right?

@@MicheleTheberge Well, yes, but I hardly see any students in my studio anymore (just 3 weeks of art camp in the summer). I definitely send some to the kids' "fancy paper" drawer in my studio, but I never considered taking them to school where I have so many more students--- maybe I will. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I have yet another flat file drawer called "painting compost"-- that's for papers I am likely to completely (or almost completely) paint over, and I dig through there surprisingly often too! :)
