My intent to get involved in using KZread channel for the C4 Corvette, was for me to share my love of my C4 Corvette with other like-minded C4 Corvette owners and I have really enjoyed doing that. I have met a lot of great people and I look forward to doing a whole lot more videos and with your encouragement I will be able continual to do so for as long as I can.
Thanks For Watching

I’ve watched your video before but came across it again. Great video! I’m going to watch your emergency hood release next. Thank you !
The all new design dash for 1990 w. Air bag was literally a million times better than the old style that you can't see in the day time at all...
Kind of how I feel about my 91 C4. It really does feel special, and that smooth surge of acceleration when you put your foot down...so good.
It's often underestimated the low-end torque of the L98 engine. Seat slamming off the line. Thanks for the comment.
Good morning MK, cool video and very tasteful mods you have done to your C4. Thanks for this video my friend. 😎☕
Thank You so much, that's great to hear.
Hit the nail on the head…I was just saying to Retro Cars Forever the other day that the hardest part about reviewing the C4 is trying to capture what it’s like to drive one. It’s like an F16 on the road! When you climb in it’s like you become a part of it, the experience is simply unlike any other car I have ever driven. Great video!
Very well said. In the video I was just trying to show that feeling and having some fun with it at the same time. Thanks Kevin
On the 94 model there is no switch for the hatch on the passenger side. Just on the driver side and center console. I believe on all models there is a mechanical cable you pull to release in case your electric system doesn’t work
Well that's a surprise. no button passenger side, you would think they would all be the same thanks for the info. Your right they all do have a mechanical release cable and sometimes the cable is hard to fine, probably a good idea to check it out before you need it. Thanks for watching
I 100% agree. An acrylic Targa top is the ultimate car roof, No crossbar! I like it out, I enjoy it in(being able to see the stars at night)…I do recommend having the passenger help…makes removing and spinning 180 degrees and landing in the storage bracket zero effort. Great video!
Top off is a totally different driving experience. Good point two people is always a good idea especially for the first time. As always Kevin thanks for your comment.
That's right, Mike. That's how I feel behind my 89Vett ❤
Thats great to here, it's special
Good morning MK, Cool video my friend. I was using leather cleaner and conditioner on mine but I'm going to try your method and see. Yours looks great. Thank you for this video. 😎☕☕
It will hide wear spots for sure. Thanks for the comment.
Good video MK ! Thank you for posting this. I hope to have a C4 one day. Take care and be well my friend.
Thanks so much. You will get a C4 and when you do let me know, I want to hear all about it.
@@kussstuff Will do. I am looking forward to getting tips from you. Please keep your videos coming my friend.

Cool vid and a totally kewl and rad 'Vette! Love taking the top off our '89 C4, "LORVET the Corvette", when it's not SO hot in The Valley of the Sunstroke, aka, Phoenix! I work the bolts from the inside and lay back across the center glove box to get the "drinker side" bolts without putting too much pressure on the center box (I find that works best as far as a "speedy" removal). Pro-tip, because of the C4's lack of body rigidity, make sure the car is on a flat, even surface when replacing the roof as otherwise, you're in for an undue struggle (ask me how I know). :) Also, I highly suggest getting a rear hatch extender which can be had on E-Bay, Top Flight Automotive and other such sites. The extender makes the top down experience significantly more enjoyable IMHO as it allows the air (wind) to vent out the back of the car instead of causing more drag and coming back around and buffeting your head and ears. Enjoy your vids Mike, so please keep up the good work, enjoy that sweet 'Vette and may King Jesus bless and keep you and yours!
Good tip on flat level surface. I have used the hatch extender and I liked it both with top on and off. I think the 89 Vette was a good year for the C4, check out the 89-record setting video on my channel. Thank You comment and the kind words.
Thanks mike.
Just having a little fun. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the video 📹, never taken my top off I like it on. I own a C4 89.
I like it on too, but it's nice to know you can take it off and have a different ride experience. The 89 was a good year for the C4, check out the 1989 world record runs on my channel, it will make you feel even better about your Vette.
@@kussstuff thanks I will. 😊
Nice one, Mike!
Thanks! David
Hey Michael I have been using these for years. Just added another Corvette to my collection, that makes 4 Corvettes now. ( 95, 96 and 64 ) I just got a 2007 Z51 3LT Atomic Orange one owner only 9k original miles unbelievably mint. Got it out of Georgia. Gonna put Borla exhaust and a cold air induction on it this week. Happy driving may friend...
What a collection of Corvettes, you are one lucky guy, but I'm sure it came by some great effort to find and maintain these Vettes. I have all I can do to keep one up and running. Thanks so much for sharing.
Cold rolled steel is much stronger. Just saying. But I'm from chicago.
Not sure if you’ll see this comment. But I crashed my mustang pretty recently and I’m looking for a new car. I found a great deal on a C4 with pretty low mileage and a targa top. I’m a single 18 year old guy who never needs to haul a lot of stuff. Would you recommend a C4 as a daily driver? I’m a huge car guy and I’ve got a real appreciation for the C3 and C4. The history is simply incredible.
The C4 can be daily drivers if you can find one with low miles and well maintained but you have to remember these are old cars and you have to be prepared to fix things when they go wrong and they will. A lot of mechanics aren’t willing to work on them so be prepared to do the work yourself. This is true with any 30- to 40-year-old car. They are not the safest car to drive, due to their age. This may sound a little negative, but they are a great car and fun cars to drive, Best of luck finding the best one that fits your needs.
And i love how people will spunk themselves silly gushing over a gear vendors under over unit and how it can "split gears" and they think that a bolt on overdrive is some radical new idea. Borg warners been at it since at least the 50s and maybe earlier
I want one of these transmissions for my Camaro, its different and my uncle had one when i was a kid and being the type of kid who pulled everything aprt to see what was up the 4+3 was like crack to a crackhead for me
I have a funny memory of my friend's C4 ZR1 back in the 90's. I had a car like that on piedestal and it was powerfull and sleek but the interior... My god that interior was crap. 😀I remember being surprised to this day by the sheer cheapness of every little bit. And I had a Škoda 120 at that time so tell me about benchmarks... 😀
well. i had me a lil C6 gran torino that was slightly modified. yeah, it was a bit heavy but you know. that thing could really hook up. unlike the c4's that couldn't grab anything without sittin n spinnin.
What power? The C4 Corvette is dog slow.
Ugly brick looking car, definitely the worst Corvette model ever made.
The C3 wasn't a prize either.
@@joevarga5982 1980-1982 C3 Corvette was gorgeous, that thing is a brick.
@@somedude4774 To me, there's more to "the worst Corvette model" than it's looks.
@@joevarga5982 Corvettes are all about style there were plenty of other cars that were faster and handled better.
Very interesting bout the hood n open doors
A beautiful under rated car. Excellent bang for buck so much fun to drive
yess Sir you are right 😂
👍👌
Great point…I’m always trying to explain how different the car is and the experience it gives the driver…there really is no comparison.
I know you understand. Thanks Kevin ,
I like the grills but I believe I like the car without them. Just my opinion did a great job on them
As much as I liked them, as you saw at the end of the video, I decided not to use them.
Where did you buy the parts to make your hood release
I got the parts from Menards, but any hardware like store would have them.
Love your videos
Thanks Mike, I that's great to here.
Bought mine 2 years ago as my first car. It's still crazy how I'm driving a American top end sportscar at the age of 22 in the Netherlands as a daily driver.
Thats great! Love to hear about the C4 in other countries, it's a common bond for all of us C4 owners. So, Hello from America.
i am driving mine in Switzerland 😝😎💥
I think my C4 is going to gradually hold more of its value. They're pretty much a supercar, and underpriced for what they are.
Your Right! They were awesome when they came out and their awesome now.
they are not super cars. It's Sportscar. And they lose a bit of value over time. C4 that holding value are 1992+ where after 94 most. So if you have pre lift version, you are losing much. But here is a thing, it is not a car its THE car. It will be with you for years and bring joy to you. Even if it will be worthless in coule months in EU it still is a fun car. Sportscars are fun. They are not super quick on straight line, they ar enot super comfortable or efficient. They are raw fun.
@@soulrippers5652 Not a matter of fact, a matter of opinion. I didn't say it was going to increase in value, I said I think it will gradually hold more of its value over time. Naturally, because it's a great car, it's a Corvette and in good, original condition, they will get rarer. My C4 is plenty quick, both in the bends and in a straight line. Many say it's not fast by modern standards, all I know is, I usually beat everyone else off the line, and I certainly don't need anything faster. The C4 is also comfortable, and you can typically get 25mpg on the highway, so that seems quite efficient for such a large V8.
@@rogermouton2273 I stated fact. You live in whatever bias you chose my friend. in EU C4 depriciate around 200$ per year or hold value. Its becouse new young people dont want them. They are ugly for them, they have terrible quality and you can buy in same price bmw, lexus or jaguar. I dont know how in USA, so for this market I cannot speak. But world is not just USA you know.. or you may not know.. nvm.
@@soulrippers5652 po
C4 definitely underrated.
Couldn't agree more. Thanks
Have you ever had any problems with your air conditioning?
Oh heck yes, but I kind of expect that with a near 40-year-old car. It seems to work when I need it, but I know it's got a slow leak.
@@kussstuff mine is a 1995 with 49,000 miles. It will blow ice cold when I turn it on. I can turn it off and turn it back on and it's blowing hot air. I think it might be the expansion valve have you ever replace that on yours?
I haven't, I charge it up when it starts to lose it's cool. Hopefully it turns into a easy fix for you. The 1995 Vett was a great year, it had all the bugs out, well almost.
Did you actually say "Targa Top"? My gawd man, nobody under the age of 55 would even know what that was! I haven't heard those two words spoken in that order in three decades!🤣 (I know you're speaking to a certain demographic, but it just struck me funny. No offense meant.)
Well I'm here to entertain, one way or another. Thanks for watching
I always open my hood on my C4 89, it's a beautiful Vette 😍
Opening the clamshell is one of the outstanding things about the C4, it's the only Vette that has it. Thanks for the comment.
I have a 95 c4 Corvette I love it
That's great to hear, they're easy to love. Thanks for watching.
@@kussstuff I like how you fix the cable to open your hood

Thank you very much you definitely taught me a lot about my car
Glad to hear that! It means a lot . Thanks
Great video…I had considered doing a video on the MAF but you got it covered, nice job!
Thanks Kevin , that's how I feel about your video, I look forward to them.
Did you replace the MAF sensor? Didn't it originally come with the aluminum housings MAF sensor rather than the all plastic one?
Both of my ‘85s are plastic.
No I did not replace the MAF sensor they are plastic like Kevin said
We should have a pool noodle fight

sweet. if you have this gill plate off, be sure to check the drain udder for pluggin while u have it off.
Good info. Thanks

Are these covers metal or plastic ?
They are metal.

Hey, your Vette looks awesome. I can see loot of heart put into it. those "'fins"' are awesome idea! I love to see owners do small details so every car is a bit different. Thanks for the video and keep up the good work! Wish you lot of health man, we both need it to keep our oldies in shape! : D
Thank you so much for the nice comment and good health wishes. I truly appreciate it.
Love ya man, its nice to see people take care of those cars. Its so much history and so much more fun to drive them comparing to new cars. They make connection with driver. I bough mine 2 years ago. She misses a lot of small parts, but working fine. I am slowly buying or 3d printing parts, I'm from EU so it takes time : ). I hope, one day she will looks good like yours <3. But a good condition car require good condition driver, so we have to stay healthy! ^^
I like the way you put it " They make a connection with driver "Good luck with getting your Vette the way you want it and try to enjoy the process. Stay Safe
@@kussstuff hah thanks, I am enjoying it now, just have to think about it not as A to B drive, but more like my old Lady xD good luck and looking forward for more of your content!
Work smarter not harder
👍You Bet!
Thanks Michael. I bought a torque wrench close to 50 yrs ago. I was worried about it's accuracy after so long so I bought the electronic version you showed. It was so close to accurate I couldn't believe it. Good tools are a great investment. 6 point tools are my tool of choice they grab a lot more of the nut or bolt it's almost impossible to round them out. Great for areas where rust is a problem.
Your right, buying good tools always pays off. I still have a lot of my Dads tools that are not only great tools but have great memory's. Thanks so much for the comment.
Fantastic and informative video! Thanks so much!
That's so great to here, I'm so glad you enjoyed it
Absolutely fucking useless video how's the ribbon go on and off??? That's the only point of a video like this God dammit
Great peek behind the screens!
