I had an 85 C4 in the early to mid-90's. The best thing about it was how easy it was to work on the engine with the clamshell hood. I would open the hood and sit on the tire with my legs between the inside of the tire and the plastic splash shields. Changing plugs while sitting is one of the things you can only do on a C4 Corvette, plus everything was so easy to get to.

Great job on your video. I've thought for quite a while that the C4 has been under appreciated. It was the biggest change in Corvettes up to that time and now only surpassed by the C8 with regard to change...the first modern Corvette expecially considering the suspension and steering upgardes over the previous generation. Also note worthy was the single piece body panels...no more glueing the panels together using bonding strips. I've owned two: one of the first new '84's in my area wh(ich caused a sensation back in '83 similar to that of the current C8) and and '88 which I've owned for 33 years.

Best thing you can do for cooling is replace those front air dam parts. Just new stock parts are fine. Over the years they get brittle and wear down. Passing over a dead possum can crack or even rip it off the car. Getting new soft plastic parts direct air flow properly to the radiator. Very important part when sitting at a stop light or drive-thru as it allows the fan to suck enough air. Drive-thru tip... hit the a/c button as it turns the fans on at any temp. Throw a couple anti-leak tabs into the radiator some morning before starting it (cold engine). Might surprise you how much more power you get plugging up the gasket leaks and at that age the gaskets leak.

Hey Mike, i subbed! Great to see more c4 coverage! The cinch feature of the seatbelt allows the sport seat equipped cars to be perfect for the track. using the power seat you can move the seat all the way rearward, press cinch, manually feed it back as you demonstrated, but then use the power seat to move you forward to the driving position and when combined with the sport seat bolsters, its perfect for the track straight from the factory. you will be sucked right in. they meant business on the track during the c4!

I have a 2006 Impala with a button on the dash that electrically releases the rear hatch, with no button anywhere else, but the button is electrically locked out when the car is in gear (automatic transmission) so it can't pop the hatch unless the car is parked. I wonder if there is a similar lockout on the hatch button in the console storage compartment of the Corvette, otherwise if items stored in the compartment shifted around they could depress the button while driving and pop the hatch.
@kussstuff

On the automatic transmission the shift lever must be put in park for the console button to open the hatch. On a manual transmission you must shift into Neutral and set the parking brake OR turn off the ignition before unlocking the hatch. Great question, Thank you for asking

Not sure if you’ll see this comment. But I crashed my mustang pretty recently and I’m looking for a new car. I found a great deal on a C4 with pretty low mileage and a targa top. I’m a single 18 year old guy who never needs to haul a lot of stuff. Would you recommend a C4 as a daily driver? I’m a huge car guy and I’ve got a real appreciation for the C3 and C4. The history is simply incredible.
@kussstuff
Ай бұрын
The C4 can be daily drivers if you can find one with low miles and well maintained but you have to remember these are old cars and you have to be prepared to fix things when they go wrong and they will. A lot of mechanics aren’t willing to work on them so be prepared to do the work yourself. This is true with any 30- to 40-year-old car. They are not the safest car to drive, due to their age. This may sound a little negative, but they are a great car and fun cars to drive, Best of luck finding the best one that fits your needs.

I have a 89 Z51. Love it. I have big plans on making it a little bit more powerful. What year is your car?
@kussstuff
Жыл бұрын
My corvette is a 1985 also Z51, 1989 was good year for the C4.
@kussstuff
10 ай бұрын

@kussstuff
