    I'm an old guy just learning to ride an electric skateboard and used the tripple8 brand pads, which looked like a known skate brand and not the cheapest thing on amazon. I fell on the pavement with enough forward speed to slide the elbow pads up, exposing my elbow and forearm to pavement. I lost a lot of skin that day and damn did it hurt! The cloth part around the forearm gripped the pavement, while the plastic cap was barely scratched! I'm now thinking about beefy motocross pads, which looks like riot gear armor...

    Thanks Stu! Good to see your name pop up, hope you're well. Long story short i have a plate and 6 screws drilled into my arm for the rest of my life and lost some mobility and use of my tricep. Good news is my skating has not been affected too much and I've even managed to skate every day for the last 2 1/2 years so not all bad! Thanks for the well wishes.

    Dude everytime I went to that park a kid latched on the entire time 😂 one was challenging me to the point it drove me to do tricks I wouldn't have so that was cool, I also became friends with his sister. Gotta love how sk8parks bring all ages, wheels and walks of life together 😂

    maybe use some adhesives or a hot glue gun to fix your original helmet? Have 2 on hand.

    Helmets are not something you want to use glue on and there is no glue that is not going to melt in the Arizona heat. Thanks for the suggestion though.

My tricep doesn't work anymore and I hope to get the plate removed eventually as it's pretty annoying. Otherwise still skating everyday in some way shape or form! Hope you been good brotha! Helmets are cheap, funerals aren't. Helmets are replaceable, you are not. I can't recall how many times my life has been saved by a helmet. I've cracked, as in outright destroyed, two. Both times I was taken out by another skater, and both times laid out flat on my back. Both times I was very grateful it wasn't my skull. We're all aware they are uncomfortable and unsightly, but comfort and looking cool is no excuse to ignore your well-being. Take care of yourself, my friends. Protect your head.

    According to the information posted on their amazon page you'd be looking at a Small/Medium. XS/S fits 18.9 - 21.3 in (48- 54 cm) S/M fits 21.7 - 22.8 in (55 - 58 cm) L/XL 23.2 - 24 in (59 - 61 cm)

    As i tell my kid " you head is worth more than a helmet" and i lead by example. I wont skate without one. Spend the extra money if you can , its worth it as alot of the cheaper ones are not multiple impact rated and that means if it saved your head once , its done its job and is destined for the bin as you dont want to try your luck on another big bash to the head for it to fail. Once again , your head is worth more than a helmet and i cant drive that home enough. You will get use to the weight , my last helmet was a sweat saver and im a wee little thing and after a while it just becomes part of what skating feels like but i handed my sweat saver on to a friend as cut off my dreads and my head shrank. Its a good helmet and saved me a few times on some bad falls. Im now giving the S1 lifer a go in as the size is more adjustable if i end up growing my dreads back and im now getting use to the feel of a diffent helmet all over again . You get that, just like getting use to a new board or skates.

  • @TwoQs
    @TwoQs Жыл бұрын

    All valid points and I'm glad you're leading by example and most importantly keeping your kid safe. Keep in mind this video is over 4 years old. I use a different helmet now and advise people get something better than a Walmart helmet. Thanks for the comment.

  • @jaded9087
    @jaded9087 Жыл бұрын

    @@TwoQs hence my point of spending the extra money . The tony halk tripple 8 sweat saver is still up there as one of the earily obtained yet good quality skate helmets but when getting a sweat saver , not all are equal. Tripple 8 sell a certified and a non certifed versons. There is a diffents in price point but that price point diffents is justified and its always best to get a " skate certification " as anything thats just bike certified is only front impact rated but skate certification is front , rear and side impact rated. What are you using now helmet wise? So id you work out what that grind was called? You would have that nailed by now.

    do these come in different colors? I seen that if they do,theyre usually a "Pro" model or has someones name attached to them, but does that make a difference in the physical skates beyond aesthetics?

  • @TwoQs
    @TwoQs Жыл бұрын

    Hello, I believe the "basics" which are the budget version of the Aeons only come in black. Pro models typically have some better hardware like liners, buckles that sort of thing and come in different colors but are a bit more expensive. I am still riding the Aeon basics every day and I would recommend them if you are trying to keep costs down. You can always upgrade things yourself over time. If you have the money go for the pro's as you will be future proofing yourself in a sense.

    Got a pair of Roces M12's as a first time aggressive skate comming from regular urban skates. Anti rocker felt so terrible to roll that I ordered these in hopes as a commuter frame to get to and from spots. Hopefully my boot's stiff enough.

  • @TwoQs
    @TwoQs Жыл бұрын

    That sounds like it would be a rough transition from urban straight to anti. I haven't tried m12's so I can't speak to their stiffness but hope they work out for you with the kizers! Have you looked into the aeon 72s? That might be a nice Segway from urban to aggressive.

  • @slingshotmcoy

    @@TwoQs I considered something like that but I figured I'd have a really hard time grinding with big wheels skating flat. I though anti rocker might be more forgiving while learning my first ones. Also they where the cheapest aggressive skates i found haha.

I find myself using the front screen on mine for normal phone stuff like making calls and answering quick texts. But when I want to watch media play games edit videos and pictures and send out emails I wind up using the large screen plus multi taskingbon the inner screen is veryveasy and convenient.
