That ankle twist looks nasty. Not sure if you're stretching, but I find a little bit at a time periodically throughout the session as my muscles warm up seems to be more effective than a bunch all at once. The 540 was pretty close, it just looked like you were hesitating slightly to follow through all the way. With 540s it helps so much to have solid muscle memory, so I'd suggest trying it without skates on until you feel like the motion feels more natural. Unless you're skating a huge steep rail, I will always recommend more wax. Friction is your enemy. But if some skateboarders see you waxing stuff they might also be your enemy, so use discretion. The main thing I try to tell people starting out is to always stay bouncy. Bend your knees and think of every muscle in your body as one big shock absorber. Think of the way Franky Morales moves, the way he bounces from trick to trick and absorbs impact. Some of the benefits will start to be apparent early on, but it will tire you out more quickly at first, because you're relying less on your bones to prop yourself up. But the more you do it, the more you strengthen all those muscles involved and come more naturally. It should give you better impact absorption, more maneuverability, more options for recovery from mistakes, eventually your jump height will increase ...I'm sure there's more. Anyway, sorry to ramble, I just get excited about helping people improve their skating ...keep these videos coming!

That is actually the approach I take with stretching. I've heard too much stretching can be just as troublesome as not stretching. However before that day when I hurt my ankle I really wasn't doing any stretching or exercise outside of skating. Now I try to workout at home and stretch when I can in between. I have since started landing 540's! Commitment was a big part of it. As well as a few other things bringing it together. To be fair Franky is a beast! haha I would love to have a tenth of his skills. :the more you strengthen all those muscles involved and come more naturally.: You are so right! I think the working out at home is helping a lot with that. Strengthening my legs and not just the muscles needed for skating. It is still a slow process though but I am enjoying it. I appreciate the advice and feedback and even watching the video! I hope you're having a great time in your skate journey as well!

@@TwoQs Thanks for taking the time to reply! I want to do everything I can to encourage this trend of people getting back into skating, or any brand new bladers. But one-on-one help only goes so far, so I'm working on a series of in-depth tutorial videos. Please let me know if you'd like to request any specific topics I could cover, or if you have any other suggestions.

First, congratulations for the 1k subscribers. I have a question. It's been 5 years since I rolled and I started going to the skatepark a week ago, but I'm scared. I'm afraid of doing 180, 360 when I know how to do it. Would you have a advise for me? thank you in advance
