How is this hydroponics if soil is used hydroponics should be only water based right?
"Coriander" seeds 🤣🤣
What is the EC value for lettuce?
Nice recipe! Nice and simple to get more people into fermenting stuff at home :) I love making kimchi and actually found your channel when I was looking up if I could grow the cabbage for it myself a few years ago :D I usually make Maangchi's Mak-kimchi recipe using 10 heads of cabbage, which makes enough to give away some and keep me stocked for maybe 3 months. (It does actually keep that long in the fridge). Maangchi's recipe is fair bit more work, but if I was going to recommend one thing from it to add to yours, it would be adding the white/daikon radish treated the same as the carrot. It's my favorite addition texture-wise and I always end up picking it out from the kimchi first :D Recently I saw people make fresh kimchi with watermelon rinds, so I will be making an experimental batch with those next time. They retain a really nice crunch when pickled, so I hope it will work the same in kimchi. Anyway, I'm happy to hear that All the Gear is more active now and I'm definitely stoked to live vicariously through you when you start doing distillation content :D
Hey bud had the same problem with plants stressing when refilling the bottles with solution. Currently put 2 heaping tablespoons of perlite in each bottle to try avoid "drowning" the roots. So far so good
This is absolutely amazing guide, thx
not sure if this has been covered elsewhere but how did you create the pucks? I am currently looking into setting up hydroponics and the idea of not using the cup things appeals to my skint lifestyle.
Man Hoocho I loved this idea but the 6 bay silicon tray’s are expensive in the uk so being a man with a 3d printer I turned it into a print at a cost of 30 pence a tray and I love them. Went overboard and designed it into a whole little 6 plant propagation set with a watering tray and top with turn vent. I’m willing to share if you’re interested?

@@Hoocho Just sent you one mate.
Great synopsis on differences. Subscribed.
Hoocho cooked hard in this one!! 🔥🔥🔥
SUCCESS! Great job man 👏
Which is the book that you were referring about Kratky method in the video
Also want to point out how amazing the a1 mini is as well. For $199 on sale right now it’s hard to beat the prints are hard to tell apart from the x1c actually some may say impossible. Bambu is on top of the game for bargain/mid/flagship consumer printers.
Big lavender farm up the road from us in Caboolture Queensland. Looking for skilled lavender growers..
Thank you for the video. You got us interested in hydroponic growing!! Do you only fill the containers with water at the time of planting? No need to top off? With the coco husks does the roots really grow fast enough to reach the edge of the plate before the water falls below the plate level? Can you share where you get your net pots and clay balls? Appreciate the help!
Tip. Inline fan should be connected right to the carbon filter to limit possible air leaks. You want the inline fan pushing the air through the lights not sucking. Otherwise you may get unwanted smells getting sucked into the system.
The coolest part is the dudes giant tanks coming from the pond. Now that is wicked!
I love the rain gutter grow system. I've replaced my Dutch buckets with this system, I love the set and forget (almost) concept
You can improve this by using gravity to automatically water your buckets. It's simple, just put a pipe about 1/3 of the way from the bottom of the bucket. You start with it topped off as you did but as the water drops, the pipe will prevent it from dropping past the level you want it to be at. Hope that makes sense.
Inhibiting growth hormones the crap they spray on our food curse those people.
Better have a plan for darkening those windows in case you want to grow, um, poinsettias.
the timelapse videos on your stuff is so deeply satisfying!
How can I use bakers yeast in my hydroponic planters?
This is interesting. I just got into hydroponics last year by printing my own tower. It worked very well so I printed two more towers. But this year, lettuce that grew well last year have really struggled, and just like yours, the roots are really under developed, brown, and not at all healthy. The only major difference is that I added an air pump. I use a flood and drain method because energy is so expensive here in the UK and it would cost too much to have the pumps run continuously. That is to say, the nutrient pumps start every 15 minutes and run for 5 seconds per degree C of ambient temperature (so the warmer the ambient, the longer the pumps run). When the nutrient pumps stop, the air pump starts and pumps air into the nutrient solution via an air stone for 2 minutes (i.e. 2 minutes in every 15). So I'm just wondering if something is going on with pumping air into the nutrient solution. Is it causing some sort of chemical reaction? Does it affect PH? The fact that you saw problems using DWC with an air pump, and I'm seeing the same issues using flood and drain towers with an air pump, is a bit too much of a coincidence.
Thanks Hoocho
Brilliant!
Great episode. So much helpful info!
Forgot to at lest paint the walls white.
That Intro tho.. epic slide...
I loooove kimchi! I defs have to make my own too!
Pro tip: if your family doesn't like the smell of it fermenting, see previous grow room video for ventilation advice.
Great crossover episode, looking forward to more collaborations with this creator 😉

2 months! That's amazing! Planting tomato from seeds on soil takes 5 months from seeds to flowering! I am in zone 5.
Enjoyed the video and liked the ruse when you cut the fruit open on the surface where you had put an axe. I thought: 'Oh! Oh! He needs an axe to cut it open. That must be why it's called a Dragon Fruit?' Brilliant video.
My Girlfriend really loves Lavender, what system would be best for keeping her happy. Asking for a Friend.
Most of the links in the description are broken (that I tried)
I have grown tomatoes and peppers successfully using Kratky method. I do not see any reason to use DWC, it just adds more complexity into the mix. I got about 1000 tomatoes and peppers from 6 containers. I forgot to use a fan, and that was the reason I have to start over. The production of fruits are great.
OH MY! I love kimchi and that looks so simple! Thank you for sharing stuff from your other channel over here. I'll have to check out your other channel for sure!
@Hoocho Ever heard of making Rum using refrigeration?
I immediately wanted to ask about oxygen within roots. Answer arrived at minute 17! Brilliant! and awesome video!
Your neighbors may wonder why your roof is the only roof that's always free of snow during the winter.
Just a theory. The pH dropped because in the early stages the consumption ratio of water/nutrients is higher, causing the concentration of nutrients to increase. When the lettuce is mature they use more nutrients and the water/nutrient consumption ratio drops. That could explain why after you adjusted the pH, it doesn't change any more. Or not in any significant amount. Fantastic footage and music. Very psych. Adding a root cam was a great idea.
I fell in love with kimchi while stationed in S Korea back in the 90s. I've made it almost the same way as you a few times a year ever since. Nice touch with making your own gochujang
Love those clean clean clean roots!

Since brewing tea for my plants made me learn a bit about fermentation - and beer although i'm "allergic", i wanted to try to make Kimchi a few years ago but some friends discouraged me then i forgot. Thank you for remembering it to me!
Wait a minute, why do you need so much headroom for lavender?
Kimchos 🎉
