I personally quite like the reviews of premade systems that just have to be assembled. If hydroponics is to hit the mainstream, it will be through products like these, as compared to the DIY ones. Personally I am still at the stage in which I'm just absorbing information about hydroponics, and won't be able to begin doing it for a while more, but when I do it will most likely be with buying a kit like this one, or the Elfsys one. So I highly appreciate these reviews, just like I also very much appreciate the DIY projects. At any rate, keep up the great videos, and love from Denmark.

Just eating my breakfast in a cold wet hole in Germany watching you Hoocho, my dose of positive energy 😊. Nice you unbox things, set them up and then do a time-lapse. If I was sending out my product for exposure then you would be my first stop. After a long discussion with my family as to what I identified as, Australian, Dutch, German and to stating there was no need for a nationality I do have to admit you remind me of where I came from and feel most comfortable to be around. Much love from a far corner of Germany.

Thanks again for reviewing another great product. What I like is you also show how there is a possibility for improvement, or additional uses. It gives me great ideas for my own DIY projects and also gives me an option to recommend to friends and family for some more polished projects.

I have such a deep appreciation for how you document everything used in your videos. Your presentation is always fantastic, and thorough, that mixed the ease of looking up the links for further information you really do stand out among KZreadrs. I am a dirt gardener who is getting interested in hydroponics, and so far you have been my go to source for building an understanding of the craft. I am hoping to delve in this spring, and when I do, I will definitely tip a beer in your direction.

I love my sunshelf! It is definitely not the cheapest option, but it looks amazing and is great for beginners. I don't have a garage or spare room, so having something that looks good in the house was important to me.

Yeah it looks like a pretty good system aesthetically but almost a grand for that shelf unit is a bit steep. Would be cool to see you do a DIY comparison when you review these kinds of systems, try and create a similar system with off the shelf components and see how it matches up

Good feedback. We know that its a bit expensive for most people, and are looking at bringing the price down without reducing quality. We've got some great ideas that I hope you can keep in touch with us to see them come through. We do also sell jsut the lights and basins individually - which takes out a bunch of cost from the product and makes setting up your own shelf cost closer to $700! but agreed that gardening should be cost sensitive!

Nice, I am interested in a setup like this as I live in a Melbourne death hole apartment where even if I have too many plants sitting in my windowsill I get a letter from the owners corporation that I am violating the rules of the building and must remove the plants immediately or face escalation action.

I have this system. I have had it for approximately 1 years. Aesthetically it looks good. Here are the faults after a year, that I have observed. Each tray contains about 4.5 litres and the are a complete single from any other tray. You have twelve grow holes in each tray. You Can ONLY USE 4 to 6 plants if you want to grow plants to their full potential. Even then you are replacing the water quite regularly and the root clog the pump. Take then that you have the max of 6 trays you really have to keep and eye on it. In my opinion there should be a base water that supplies all the trays. Is it worth it? If you have the time to continually watch it for water loss then it’s great, if you don’t then…….ask me any questions on it, because I am not selling it I have it and use it!!!

I just ordered a Sunshelf . One thing missing from this video Hoocho, is the extraordinary fact that this is an Australian 🇦🇺 company. You forgot to highlight this important fact. I did not know until I went to their website. At first I thought this was Chinese, maybe American. Once I realised they are Australian, I ordered straight away. Keep it local, keep it rural, keep it regional, keep it Australian. Love your channel mate. 🦘

looks like it works great.. i have some questions though.... can the pumps be switched off by a switch instead of having to disconnect them? And when you said they come on for 15 minutes, is that for 15 minutes every hour? thanks

  • @Jon-yh3gb

$60 for 3ft (about 1m) wide shelf with 4 levels. Metal (more my aestetic amyway) instead of wood. Then a 4 pack of 3ft wide led bars (maybe double up for more par) (less than $40) A surge strip with usb ports and 1 usb fan per shelf ($50) so you can diy better starting around $150 (still need water pumps and tubes for nft, or pumps and flood drain beds, or container and air pumps for dwc. Could do one method per shelf.) Pricing was low effort based on 2 day delivery availability.

How do the pumps not overheat the water? They are running 24/7 or are they on time cycle? I don't see the big benefit of it apply that heat energy into the water... unless it was winter and raising the water temp would be beneficial. Anyway, the plants would probably be fine growing down into the water without a pump at all, and then theres no risk of it going dry. OR, Small air pumps would be more reliable, not run out of water, not heat up the water, and also agitate it and create mist like the pump did. I really dont understand the choice of pumps in this setup

Thanks for the feedback! We've tried to make the best product for a beginner getting into hydro indoors. The adaptors and size of the shelves really bump up the price sadly - but we are working on making them more affordable without compromising on quality so that we can help more people get started with hydro!
