I am not a professional woodcarver and, especially, not a master or a teacher. However, I enjoy carving small wooden sculptures and combine all my hobbies in these. I want to share my ideas, show you, that carving my sculptures doesn't require significant expenses or exceptional skills. All you need is a tree branch, a handy knife, and basic safety knowledge. Here, you will find my little simple projects, and I hope they help you relax.

Amazing work. You deserve so much more recognition
Thank you. Glad to hear that. I really like this project too.
👏👏👏👏
Did your knife stay sharp? Or did you pause to sharpen it?
I often forget to properly sharpen the knife, but in this video, I had a bad tree branch. The closer the branch is to the trunk, the better it is, but this one was too soft(brittle?). I sanded the details and filmed the carving to the end, and I liked how it turned out. So, I decided to leave everything as it is.
Excellent work!😊This video really makes me smile. Thank you for your work)🙃
Well done ..very nice project and wonderful Thank you for sharing
I appreciate your kind words. It means a lot to hear your positive feedback.
I love your videos! I got really into woodcarving a few months ago at my school but since school ended and I graduated I haven’t been able to since I don’t have a kit. I have an unfinished penguin who stares at me with his half done face sitting in my room 😂😂 my boyfriend is getting me a really really nice woodcarving kit that I’ll be getting at the end of this month. So excited!! You have inspired me greatly and filled the void of not being able to do it myself, so thank you :)
A few years ago, I spent a whole year carving just one small sea turtle. And I'm really glad about your success. Thank you for sharing this wonderful story that also inspires me. May your new tools serve you well and bring you joy. Good carving to you.
as real
Another cute one. are you on Facebook? would like to show you what I have leaned.
I don't have a Facebook account, but I created a page on Buy Me a Coffee(as your request). It seems there is a messaging feature for my supporters, but I don't know how it works yet. Try it. The link is in the video description and on the channel page. I'll be glad to see you there.
What kind of wood is it that you use
Basswood
Beautiful work, I love it ❣️
Would like to double check the measurements. my first one did not turn out at all. the first line for the head I drew was 10mm my next line was 8 mm from the 10. and the next line is 12 mm from the 10. mine just did not look anyting like your lines. is there a way you could show with a ruler. Love your videos. are you on Facebook or Instagram?
If you measure from the head: 1. Head - 10mm (If I carve a vertical line for the head diagonally, and depending on the type of face). 2. Front paws - 8mm 3. Belly - 15mm 4. And back paws - 12mm All of this can be increased by making the belly smaller. I just make the back paws larger than the front paws. I also left 15mm for the head, but for this, you need a longer piece of wood (55mm). In the video, I forgot to mention that the back paws should be measured from the opposite side. So, thank you for the comment; I will make the changes. Right now, there's enough time only for KZread. If there are any changes, I will definitely post about it in the Community tab. Good carving to you.
@@SmallWoodenSculpture Thank you so much for the info. I just thought 10 mm was so small. and in the video it looks so much bigger then 10. I only have a very hard wood here, Oak and Mazanita. So I bought some bass wood at the craft store and using that.
Oh, I want an oak cat too, but I need to go to a forest. At home, I have several linden trees that need trimming every year, so I can always afford to mess up a few projects. I hope this time you succeed.
Гарна та цікава робота 👍
So cute, would love to see the full carve. and see a place to buy you coffee
Thank you for your comments. I'll try to implement your requests. In the 'Community' tab, you will find step-by-step photos of carving a cat: www.youtube.com/@SmallWoodenSculpture/community Perhaps, at this time, they will help you, if you haven't seen them before. Good luck with your future carving.
Hope you do another dog or cat, Please do a more detail on legs do not understand. Trying a lot. I am a new carver.
Enjoying your videos, thanks for sharing!
Thank you, again. You could submit an article to Woodcarving Illustrated or publish your own book for beginners, that would be nice.
Thank you for your words. This is a good idea. Maybe in the future, I will try.
Very great job! 😊Thanks for the interesting ideas! Keep creating!)
I also love this style of yours! It gives me confidence and the dogs (and cats) are so cute! Please keep them coming!
I'm happy to hear that. Thank you. I'll keep making more new videos.
Cool.
Cool
Great idea. I always try to use the natural shape of wood to work to my advantage.
Glad you like it! Thank you.
A cutie!
Very cute cats!😺Good job)
Excellent! I love this little carve. Thank you - headed out to find a little branch now!
Basswood ?
Yes
Another nice project! I'll definitely need to try this one. I've already done your turtle and this might be a perfect companion for her.
Good decision. Happy carving to you.
Such a great project! These are fantastic :)
Is there special types of wood for carving, or any kind will be fine ?
This is basswood, which is very good for wood carving. I regularly use harder types of wood, such as aspen or birch, and achieve good results. However, if you want to try carving a plague doctor for the first time, basswood would be great.
@@SmallWoodenSculpture thanks for the instructive reply.
love it!
Thank you. I'm glad you appreciated this little project.
Crikey! Cool crocs! Well done, thanks for the video!
Thank you. I'm very glad.
Another excellent teaching, thank you. Especially liked how you carved the teeth.
Thank you
Wow! How cool!🔥🔥🔥 Crocodiles as alive🐊🐊🐊) Very beautiful and elegant work! Thank you!)☺️
Beautiful details. I love it
Would be really cool if you could do some detailed step by step! Thanks for your videos
I wouldn't mind watching a longer video with more details
Nice one !
🐊🐊🐊🐊🐊 very Kool 👍🏻👍🏻
You're so clever! It looks amazing!
Such adorable little crocodiles :)
What knife do you use and wood
I made my knife myself. The blade length is 40 mm. The overall length of the knife is 130 mm. In this video, I used basswood. Good carving to you.
